“Responding to previous allegations that his lifestyle affected his performance at UFC 71, Chuck admits he’s at the clubs, but that he’s drinking water. Says he goes to bed late, but also gets up late when he’s preparing for a fight. Says he doesn’t drink at least a month before the fight and probably has only three drinks in the three months before a fight. Says loss to Rampage had nothing to do with that fight and that he was in great shape and prepared. Chuck says he’s committed to getting the title back.”

Well we will see if the pop belly is gone..
Either way Jardine is sccrewed…
Chuck always says hes in great shape
Why do you always put this pic on when you talk about Chuck? Use a different one already!

“After being asked if his Mohawk was permanent, Chuck says he’s had it since 92 and it’s not going anywhere.”

Mania,
I really like when you have a link over to the conference call notes over on BloodyElbow. GOOD STUFF. How often does the UFC have these conference calls? Is it once per event? If so, is it always the week before the event? I ask because I would like to check up on the notes for the events that don’t happen to be linked. Because honestly, I don’t go to anyother MMA site, unless I stumbled there because I clicked on a link from here.
Chuck’s chances of regaining the LHW Gold is the same as Tito’s..slim to none.
Its a lose lose for either guy…
Keith if he loses is way out of contention…
If he wins its like… “Chuck sucks anyway no since Rampage and Henderson are around”
If Chuck loses well, he lost to Keith… NO reply needed.
IF he wins its like… “The dean of mean sucks anyway and everyone is better than him”
Not exactly a main event that makes me wanna buy it, they the UFC have thier head on wrong. They should have had this fight in London. Dont get me wrong I am glad they did it the way they did I just dont think it is the way to make $$$.
As long as Chuck keeps his spacing he is deadly. Dont count him out just yet. I think he still has some left in the basement.
I would like to see a come back from Chuck. It would set up fights with Wanderlei, Shogun, Henderson, Houston, or Rashad respectfully. Remember, Dana daid that he has to win AT LEAST two fights before another shot at the title. I’m curious, who wants to see Jardine win or get that chance at the belt?
Why do you always put this pic on when you talk about Chuck? Use a different one already!
Yeah - I hate this pic - doesn’t even look like him at all.
…Because honestly, I don’t go to anyother MMA site, unless I stumbled there because I clicked on a link from here.
Agreed - this is by far the best MMA site on the net. It’s clean, easy to use, extremely functional and the RSS feeds actually have descriptions along with them. Most sites don’t bother, I guess.
I also find Keith Jardine’s comments to be somehow, out of whack. He talks so greatly about himself in the first quote, and then doubts himself in the second.
“Jardine says in coming back from the loss to Alexander he’s had no time off. Says he was back in the training room 3 days after the loss and has been training ever since. Says he lost focus and got caught. Says in his heart he believes he wins that fight 99 times out of 100.”
“Keith says when he got the call asking if he wanted to fight Chuck he thought it was a joke, but says he is prepared to do whatever he needed to so he can win again in the UFC.”
But then again, after getting highlight reel KO’d in under a minute, you don’t expect to be fighting someone one fight removed from being the multiple time defending LHW champion of the worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlld Chuck The IIIICEMAN LIDDEEEELLLLL!!! (That was my best emphatic spelling of Bruce Buffer at the end there)
SHOGUN vs Forrest..is the Main Event of UFC 76..well at least in my mind it is.
Chuck better be ready, because you can bet Jardine is gonna be. If Jardine can beat Chuck, its a fast track to the top of the totem pole almost erasing the loss to Alexander. But Jardine is just a rebound fight for Chuck…
This is the order should be for me…
Main event:
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (16-2) vs. Forrest Griffin (14-4)
Diego Sanchez (17-1) vs. Jon Fitch (14-2)
Tyson Griffin (9-1) vs. Thiago Tavares (13-0)
Ryoto Machida (10-0) vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura (11-6)
Chuck Liddell (20-4) vs. Keith Jardine (12-3-1)
SHOGUN vs Forrest..is the Main Event of UFC 76..well at least in my mind it is.
Yea rite! The main event is definetly THE NIGHTMARE vs …well, FITCH DOESNT HAVE A NICKNAME! Then second is TAVARES vs GRIFFIN, THEN its SHOGUN vs Forrest.
Thats right you better change the picture.
I think this fight is gonna be boring. Keith will stand in the middle of the ring waiting for Lidell and Liddell will be running away like always.
Keith wont use his best weapon, the leg kicks cuz Liddell might time him and
Liddell will be even more defensive then he normally is cuz he doesnt wanna get KTFO again
I see this going the distance with Keith getting robbed in the decision.

Your an idiot… Sanchez???!?!!! HE LOS TTO KOS DUDE!! HAHAHAHAA “TAVARES vs GRIFFIN” these guys are barely making it on the air let alone the main event… BTW - dont tell Mania what to do.. A$$.
This really did turn out to be a nice card! I was so dissapointed to see this fight announced (Lidell vs Jardine). But they have put together some good matches that is well worth the $ for the card.
I hope chuck wins because I can stand the fluke wins, we have had enough. Thats the only way I see Jardine winning is with a unseen punch, much like the one Rampage threw. But where would Jardine go from there? He has no chance angainst Rampage, Rua, Silva, or Houston. So maybe the winner of Tito vs Rashad II.
This division is stacked with talent, but I believe Soudjukdo needs to be here to finalize it! He beat Arona, and Nog, in very impressive fashion I would love to see him fight Houston!
THE MAIN EVENT IS
CHUCK LIDDELL AND JARDINE, CHUCK SHOULD BE THE MAIN EVENT, MORE RECOGNITION AND BECAUSE OF ONE LOSS TO RAMPAGE DOESNT PULL HIM DOWN UNLESS RAMPAGE OR RANDY WITH A TITLE FIGHT WERE ON THE SAME CARD
SHOGUN AND GRIFFIN SHOULDNT BE THE HEADLINER BECAUSE MOST OF THE NOOBS DONT KNOW WHO HE (SHOGUN)IS YET, THIS IS TO ALL OF YOU CHUCK HATERS. ONE LOSS TO A GUY LIKE RAMPAGE DOESNT MEAN THE GUY SUCKS.
THE CARD IS AND SHOULD STAY THE WAY IT IS IN ORDER
right, i love how a guy defends his belt how many times? then he gets caught on the button once and now he’s done - same thing with CC. damn, these guys are human…Chuck imo is the main event on any card he’s on! if he loses this fight (which he wont) and maybe a couple more then start talking shit. bottom line is he’s won most of his fights by KO including two against the most nuthugged fighter on this site: the natural! at least when chuck fights we don’t have to watch him grind out a decision (not a shot at RC by any means)
Has anyone seen the commercials for this fight on Spike??? They show footage of Chuck and Jardine beating people up like they always do. Then all of a sudden you see Jardine punch Houston Alexander and he falls down……wtf! That is unbelievable! Alexander made Jardine his BITCH!!!! And they have the nerve to show that hightlight!!

he must be joking, he cant be serious, i am definitely looking forward to there fights but definitely not main event or headline material, unless it was a fight night card
When people question Chuck’s shape they are actually questioning if Chuck still has the heart to compete with the best. Thats gotta hurt his ego. I think he is going to come out blazing against Jardine

If Sanchez wasn’t on the verge of death the day before the fight he would slapped Kos all over the cage. He’s healthy now and ready to make an example of Kos’ teammate. This one shuld be a great fight.
It’s very strange how things work out…
This has to be one of, if not the, worst main event in recent memory for a UFC PPV. However, I think that it will be one of the best cards of the year do to the other fights on the card. Everyone know the 4 fights I’m referring to, and unfortunately it does not include Matt Wiman/Michihiro Omigawa.
Styles make fights. This will be a better brawl then most think. Jardine does have a puncher’s chance. Liddell is still the most devastating striker MMA has ever seen
I can’t see Jardine winning any round.(sorry)
Liddell is still the most devastating striker MMA has ever seen
Nooooooooo.
I don’t even know if we can say that Chuck is the best striker the LHW division of the UFC has ever seen. This is a safe bet, but people would argue.
All the fans have counted Liddell out of the LHW title picture, including myself. Hopefully this lights a fire under chucks ass. I hope he comes back strong just for the simple fact that many dream matches wot matter if he is washed up.
I c Chuck comming out and KO Jardine. Chcuck maybe a counterpuncher but isn’t a big fan of decisions. Look for chuck to finish the fight in the second rd.
This division is stacked with talent, but I believe Soudjukdo needs to be here to finalize it! He beat Arona, and Nog, in very impressive fashion I would love to see him fight Houston!
Actually, Soudjukdo beat Nog’s brother. There just about identical in looks and name, so it is easy to make that mistake. Nog’s brother’s name is Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira. He’s a good fighter anyhow.
This is why I like Chuck. By his standards, we are all in great shape.
Also, Kimura by Fedor is right, Soudjukdo would be a phenomenal addition to an already stacked division.
Dana, DO IT.
Yes, I get to stick up for Chuck Liddell.
Look, when he fought Rampage Jackson, there was ALOT of pressure on Chuck Liddell, because this was Chuck’s only loss he had not avenged. Chuck Liddell was scarred that he was going to show that he was volunerable infront of a Las Vegas crowd who has always seen Chuck just manhandle his opponents. Chuck showed that he is just like every other fighter, he can get caught and he can get knocked out.
Now with that pressure off his back, people know seeing Chuck Liddell as, human it makes him more dangerous on his feet than before.
Think when Chuck lost to Randy for the first time. Chuck came back and tore everything up, he was hungry to prove himself, he wanted redemption. What is Chuck going to do come UFC 76? Attempt to Redeem himself.
He is fighting a dangerous opponent though, I think alot of you all are underestimating Keith Jardine. Jardine has hands of stone, and he actually has a ground game as well, that many have not seen.
So what Jardine got knocked out by a guy who hits like a semi-truck? I am pretty sure alot of people in that division, if they met up with Houston Alexander, and they got caught.. they would be out for a while as well.
Jardine and Liddell should be a main event, because it is giving all of the “new era” MMA fans who just want to see knockouts and that do not appreciate the other tactics that go into MMA, well that match-up is going to deliever, and this fight might end up being a Forrest Griffin/Stephan Bonnar bout, in which all 3 rounds is nothing but a hardcore slugfest, or it is going to be a Round 1 Knockout.
That is what all the new era unknowledgeable UFC fans are paying for. The see who gets knocked out when.
Jardine/Liddell is going to be a fun fight to watch, stop bashing this fight.

100% true. When you’re talking about Top 5 fighters fighting other Top 5 fighters then a loss bears no shame. Heck, I’ll even go so far as to say the same when you’re talking about Top 10 guys.

Very lame but I’d fault Soko more-so than the UFC. From what I read on this site about their negotiations, Soko wanted to fight the top guys right away. From a fan stand-point, great! From a business stand-point, no way! After pumping all this money into it’s current stars, the UFC is never going to let some relatively unknown fighter come in & potentially punk it’s top guys.

Chuck is definately NOT the most devastating striker MMA has ever seen. I repeat, definately NOT. You can like Chuck as much as you choose to, even if its in an un-manly way but that statement you just made is completely false.
Now on the other hand, up until recently he was arguable the best striker in the UFC LHW division specifically but thats about it. I may give you that but if you argue the best in the WORLD at 205 then alotta people will have a problem with that. It’s definately debatable though.
It should be Chuck vs Shogun. Unless they are pitting beaten fighter against beaten fighter.
I have a hard time seeing that Jardine will hang with Chuck, but then again. I thought Chuck would hold up better against Rampage…??

ViolentMike: Are you sure Soko signed with K-1 where did you see that or hear it?
Mania can you confirm this? Give us a thread to tell him how stupid he is!
Dis-regard previous post. I found my answer. It is four fight contract so maybe if he stays unbeaten he can still come to the UFC!
WOW ufc_fan
you just put your foot in your mouth eh
Who really cares about this fight anyway? Jardine in the Main Event? Jardine shouldn’t even be fighting Chuck. Chuck should be fighting Houston Alexander. You know, the guy that kicked the shit out of Jardine. It was funny when Rogan said this quote @ UFC 75 ” There are so many big stars around now, Dana is not going to throw you a warm up fight after a loss anymore.” Unless you are Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin twice, or Chuck Liddell. Cro Cop gets thrown Cheick Kongo. Fair? Hardly. Must be nice to be in the “clique.” Fuck Jardine.
I hope so, but it is too early to tell what kind of caliper Soudjukdo is, even with those two fights. They both were over so quick. I won’t, to any extent, say they were lucky shots, but the blows were right on the money, instant KO. Who knows how good he would do when he goes more than just one round. We haven’t seen his conditioning when the fight goes the distance against top contenders; he knocks em out too quick. But, holy crap, the dude’s only 23 years old!! He looks older than my dad. He’s going to only get better. Looking foward to it.
When is his next scheduled fight?
But, holy crap, the dude’s only 23 years old!! He looks older than my dad. He’s going to only get better.
No, that meens he’s gonna get worse. He’s aging quikly. Like the dudes who looked old and had beards back in like 8th grade. But by Senior year they were nothin, just small and old lookin.

heh yeh, FIREWATER!!
I am a huge Chuck fan, And I think it is so funny that 6-12 months ago so many people thought Chuck was so good. Ya, Chuck is washed up after losing 1 fight, after dominating for years, just like GSP, get real. Don’t even mention the Pride guys , because Tito beat Silva and Sobral beat Shogun so I don’t want to hear they are in a different class.

Two straight bangers going the distance! Has that ever happened. 2 straight standup guys every go the full 15. I mean I have seen guys versed in wrestling that like to bang it out until they take a clean shot then they pull guard, but I can not recall 2 straight heavey hitters going the distance. Does anyone? Bonner and Griffen is one but I do not think their KO power is on Chuck’s orKeith’s level. I do not imagine either one of these guys pulling guard or going for a doulble leg. Maybe some dirty boxing, but this fight is not going three rounds.

Oh I think we can say Chuck is the best striker in the LHW division. Show me a longer list of KOs in a row, than on Chucks record. How many people KOed Randy ,Tito and Sobral before they met Chuck? thats right NOBODY, and Chuck T(KO) them ALL TWICE. It’s not even debatable. Chuck KOs guys who have good defence and generally do pretty well agaist strikers. I’m not a huge Chuck fan, but he is the knockout King of the LHW division, hands down.
I am a huge Chuck fan, And I think it is so funny that 6-12 months ago so many people thought Chuck was so good. Me and my friend had this very same conversation about a week ago. EVeryone said Randy was out (I personally did not think Randy would win, but I am a Gonzaga fan and all in all still am. I think Gonazaga would still own 95% of that division). They have said it about GSP and Cro Cop. It is not like Chuck lost to someguy that got in to the UFC yesterday. This guy so far has had Chuck’s #. He is still top 5 in that weight class. And until we see how succesfull the Chute Boxe guys are without their soccer kicks, and their double and single leg head stomps, he still maybe in the top 2 or 3. This is MMA anyone can get caught on any night. Rua has lost fight to Sobral who Chuck owned and mark coleman who is no where near the top 5 but he is still considered great. Either way this weight class has a lot of shaping to take place…
Pot bellied chuck or not, he’s going to destroy the dean of mr. clean.
p.s. capslock is for fgts.
Chuck is the man, the guy loses 1 fight and now he’s getting dumped on by everybody. Plain & simple rampage is a bad matchup for chuck. Just like silva is a bad matchup for rampage. I can’t wait for chuck to ko jardine, and starting beating up on pride fighters like shogun & silva. You know one these two brazillies is next for chuck. Either way, which ever brazille he fights will have some long term memory loss to look forward to.

1. Rampage
2. SHOGUN
3. Wandi
4. Dan Henderson ( if he stays at 205 )
Mania - there is a real good interview on Nick Diaz on CBSsports..he talks Marijuana suspension, steriods in MMA,fighter’s pay in MMA ( funny stuff on Mayweather ) UFC, Gomi, ElitXc, etc..he is fighting tommorrow night and I think it would be a good post.
TOP FIVE;
#1…Shogun
#2…Rampage
#3…Iceman
#4…Axe murderer
#5…Huntington beach badboy
houston and Griffin dont make the list cause they dont have too many big names on resume,,,but definetly top ten 205ers…
Hendo did not make list cause i consider him a 185er that ahs gained weight to fight big fights….
Im not sure but i would think Hendo will be fighting in middleweight,..at least for now??
and also PhilQNY is right, that is a good interview{diaz}
I hope to see him back..ive been a fan of Diaz from the get go…{anyone willing to box with anyone gets my respect..and dudes ju jitsu’s nasty..he’s winning with gogo plata’s..c’mon man gogo’s? amazing!!

HOWEVER, in the Franklin/Okami fight, both fighters were coming off of victories, NOT KO defeats, and the Franklin/Okami fight was to see who the #1 contender would be. The Liddell/Jardine does not determine the #1 contender. If Liddell wins, he still needs one more win, probably against Wandi, to be the #1 contender. If Jardine wins, he needs about 4 more wins in a row against quality opponents to be #1 contender.
I don’t know man……I think the Franklin vs Okami fight was the worst headliner.
However I would have to say that Liddel/Jardine will undoubtedly be MUCH more exciting than the Franklin/Okami fight.

Q: How are things with EliteXC? Are you happy with their pay scale?
ND: Yeah, I’m happy with it. But I’m not really happy with any fighter’s pay, though. Like any MMA fighter’s pay. Period. I’m not happy with any of us going on TV and immediately the next day not being set for life. It’s like c’mon dude, we’re going on television here. On Showtime; on Versus; on pay-per-view. Know what I mean? And we’re f—— rock stars, dude. The only reason why we’re not is because they say we’re not. It’s like why are we not getting paid top dollar like some little boy bands are?
Like f—— Timberlake or ‘ol Mayweather? Or ‘N Sync. People are getting paid serious money. There’s seriously some bulls— going on where none of us are getting paid here. And I don’t understand it either because I walked through the mall the other day when I was in Vegas. And I seen happy old Floyd f—— Mayweather after his little interview he did where I think he was talking s— about how he’ll beat any MMA fighter’s ass. And I was in the worst f—— mood ever, dude, because I was just about to say f— it because I was over there to corner my brother and didn’t get to corner my brother because you need to have a license for that.
So Floyd is walking around on a f—— shopping spree, dude. And I don’t even think he has any real friends. He’s got these big f—— Samoan (guys) carrying his shopping bags and all his clothes and s—. He’s walking around “Whoopty-woo. Yaw-yaw!” and this and that, signing autographs and taking pictures here and there and just acting like a complete f—— a——- and I’m thinking like “Man, I ought to just whoop this … ass right here and ain’t nobody would say s—. I could have my friend record it and put it up on YouTube and see what that does for me?
Liddell is still the most devastating striker MMA has ever seen
————————————————————
Nooooooooo.
I don’t even know if we can say that Chuck is the best striker the LHW division of the UFC has ever seen. This is a safe bet, but people would argue.
————————————————————-
Chuck is definately NOT the most devastating striker MMA has ever seen.
I see we sure agreed here.
*** MACHINE, I see we sure agreed here.
ViolentMike: Are you sure Soko signed with K-1 where did you see that or hear it?
UFC FAN, this is definitely a FACT. I read it on this site a while back. Soko trains at Team Quest, and Dan Henderson is his manager. In several Henerson interviews that I have read/heard he also said that Soko is in K-1.
As far as his contract is concerned, I’m really not to sure, but I think its rather short - like 3 fights or so.
I am going to be on vacation during this fight, and not gonna get to order it, i’m just waiting for my buddy to call up and say “JARDINE WHOOPED HIS ASS”. That seems to be the outcome of all the top fighters lately, it’s good to be the underdog it seems.
I think this should be a really good fight and I’m looking forward to it. I do not think this is going to be an easy one for Chuck at all. I am going for the upset.
Jardine made a mistake and took Houston lightly and he paid for it. It seems like people are judging Jardine on this fight alone I think that is a mistake. Jardine is a very tough fighter who has knockout power, excellent leg kicks and a solid chin. Most fighters would probably have not have got up from one of those power shots Houston threw, how many did Jardine eat before he went down. Rampage only through the one bomb at Chuck and he was on the canvas. I still think Chuck is one the deadliest strikers in the division, but I think having not fought any solid strikers in a while in is going to work against him. Most of the people he has fought recently were without doubt some of the best, but I do not think they were genuine strikers like Jardine. Chuck will have the reach advantage but I do not think his experience will come into it when it comes down to slugging it out toe to, which it probably will, and this is where I think that Jardine will come out on top, as I believe Jardine will be able to take more of a beating then Chuck
