"I think the UFC will need to set up the Hendo vs A.Silva fight asap after Franklin loses their rematch in order to allow 185 to sort things out with various match ups. There are waaaay to many unanswered questions at 185 and no one is emerging as a true #1 contender. Plus, during one of those recent conference calls Dana was on he mentioned wanting to sign Denis Kang but hadnt heard from his management. This would allow time for those negotions to take place. "

Do you think that if Jason MacDonald were to beat Yushin Okami in the very first round by TKO or submission, that he would not be considered for a title shot with Silva or Franklin ? What is Okami wins in the same fashion Machine ?

Violent Mike ?

I just feel that if MacDonald or Okami win, who do they then fight ? If Dan Henderson gets his 185 pound title "unification" (nonsense because PRIDE is all but gone) fight, Okami or MacDonald would then fight an opponent who is beneath them in the rankings ? Who would they fight ?

Both guys have fought Rich Franklin, thus no one cares about seeing that fight ! With a win you should move up the rankings and fight the next best guy (hence Silva or Rich if he has the belt).

We are somewhat aware that Patrick Cote wants Terry Martin after he wins, so Martin is out.

Leben will be out of the UFC, and it is a lose-lose FIGHT for Okami or MacDonald. Does nothing to elevate their careers.

So while I understand Dana will almost 100% have Dan Henderson fight for the title at the very next available time, where does that leave the two talented fighters after one of them wins ?

My guess is fighting in a fight which has no significance, congrats to the UFC for not having a control on the 185 pound division and on other things in general.
I'm curious as to why the 185 division is so weak. Is there no up & coming talent developing in this weight class? I've gotta start scouring around the net for some new 185 contenders from other promotions because no one in the UFC seems to be doing it.
wouldnt matter, if hendo fought at 185 lbs, silva would still mop the floor with him, his striking is amateurish compared to silva, rich franklin would problably destroy hendo, if he dropped to 185, the problem is no matter who drops to 185 is going to get his ass whooped by the spider

its not that the division is weak, its just that silva, is so far ahead of anyone else, rich franklin could problably beat allmost any LHW, even fighting at 185
Who will be the first to KO Silva? Any thoughts people? Your allowed one name, and one name only. Go..
first to k0 silva, let me think, no one, his striking is on a different level than anyone out there, dont see anyone ever out striking him, only chance hendo, has is to do lay, and pray, which he is better at then nate, but, it wont be easy taking silva down, now that his knees are healthy, not to mention, if he dropped down, silva will be as strong as hendo, and has to worry about his submissions, in short, anderson, may never lose a fight, in thje next 5 yrs or so

As I look on it now, Dan Henderson will almost definitly, and more than deservingly get a shot at whoever holds the 185 lb. crown.
2.okami
3.mcdonald

another interesting match would be Lister vs Terrel. 2 elite BJJ experts going toe to toe! Talk about a technical match!

unless they make it official hendo is still in light weight. give nate the great either leites or maybe even kendall grove. i doubt nate will be fighting okami, franklin, or mcdonald so early in jan when they fight in oct. watch it will be grove or leites or henderson if and when it is official. evan tanner is slated to fight dean lister in dec. found out in nov ed herman is fighting dave terell. interesting fight that would be. my top 5 without hendo

1.franklin
2.okami
3.mcdonald
4.marquardt
5.martin
with leites right behind him

Machine,

As I look on it now, Dan Henderson will almost definitly, and more than deservingly get a shot at whoever holds the 185 lb. crown.
