One final thought on the Bisping-Hamill fight: We’ve never received so much feedback and reaction on one single fight since we started this site in 2005.
It’s overwhelming to be quite honest.
Unfortunately, decisions are whacked sometimes. It’s the nature of any combat sport. And until the criteria — or the judges — are improved then there are probably going to be a number of “bad” decisions down the road.
In this case, however, Hamill perhaps multiplied his fan base exponentially overnight. One could argue that this loss has done more for his career than the previous three wins on his professional MMA record, as well as an appearance on a popular television reality series.
Hamill will be back in action soon and more people are going to want to see him perform than ever before. And he has two judges to thank for that.
Perhaps a small consolation, but we’re just trying to find the silver lining in all of this, folks. In addition, we don’t want to let one poor decision ruin some of the great match ups in store for us in the next few weeks.
And there are some juicy ones lined up.

Here Here. Tavares-Griffin, Fitch-Sanchez, Machida-Nakamura … some great fights indeed. Let’s not forget about UFN, too.
I’m excited for every card to happen and then look forward to the next.. I just hope we don’t keep having the main focus of post-fight card discussions..Of the negative..such as Steroids..Holding for too long a choke..Blind Mice judgement..this weekends event should be more about Rampage becoming the first ever Unified MMA Champion of the World at LHW..but Hammil/Bisping Controversey is Headline News over what should be Front Page..Page!!!
Lets hope the next two can leave us without any bad taste in the mouth.
its a good thing i put $50 on pete sell 2 weeks back… his moneyline dropped down to 200, from 215… looks like i got a better play on my money… i would suggest this bet if anyone is interested.. but then again i think i may be the only one here that thinks drago’s gonna kick some @ss.
thats 200 for anyone who didn’t realize
Mania, i’m posting plus signs infront of the 200 but its not coming up, might me a glitch or something..

..I’m with you on that one..Drago is going to have to put hurtin on that guy.
I wonder if they’ve determined the victor’s yet? I hope they pick Florian.
There are only a few fights from all of those events that I am okay with missing. The rest I wish I could watch them all.
The Thomas/Florian fight to me is the new LW championship bout since it’s likely Sherk will lose the belt via doping.
Def looking forward more to the Shogun/Griffin fight than the main event though both should be great fights.
Cannot wait to see Shogun. He better KO Griffin and not leave it to the poor judgment of UFC judges. Griffin is UFC’s pet project (just like Bisping). Man I am still so mad with the Hamil-Bisping that I could not help mentioning it for the 1000th time.
Im mostly interested to see what Quarry is gonna try and do with Pete Sell. Thats a challenge for the start of a comeback after back complications. Itll be interesting.
Man, GREAT fights this month. Fitch-Sanchez fight is gonna be a barn burner Im sure. REALLY wish that was a 5 round fight… 3 wont be enough.

I completely agree. No disrespect to Jardine, but regardless of what DW says, I don’t think he should be fighting Chuck in the main event. Shogun/Griffin is the main event for me.
Jesse Holland is my hero. Looking forward to the TUF columns with all the obscure genX references and random, yet fitting, historical metaphors! Can’t wait! Do you guys sell Jesse Holland T-shirts?

I totally agree.
I’m not interested in seeing a Bisping/Hamill rematch. I’m interested in seeing Michael Bisping fight Shogun.
I used to be a Bisping fan, and to be honest I think he was a better fighter on the TUF show. He’s lost his focus. Right now he behaves as though he were the champion and it really put me off to see the way he walked out and celebrated in the center of the ring during his pre-fight announcement. His, “back to wrestlin’,” post-fight comment only cemented my new dislike for him.
I don’t care if his wife is hot, Bisping needs to be brought back to earth, and I think a bout against Rua would be just what he needs. It’s not that I want him hurt, I just think a savage, merciless one-sided beating would do good for his mind to remind him that he is a fighter, not a celebrity. If he gets hurt in the process, then so be it. Perhaps some time spent with Huerta to learn how to be a proper poster-boy would do Bisping some good.
I completely agree with this article in everything that was said about Hamill. He is now a very popular UFC fighter, and I hope he joins a good camp to sharpen that raw strength and talent further at a faster pace before the public shifts their goodwill as they inevitably will do if he starts losing. I think joining a strong team like ATT would do this guy wonders. They’ve got great strikers and jits fighters, while Hamill can bring exceptional wrestling. It’s a good mix. I think Hamill should focus on jiu-jitsu right now. Anyone can learn to strike, but he needs to learn how to finish once he gets his opponents on the ground. Plus he’s got a tremendous base, which is everything in BJJ.
Bisping is good, and as a MW he’ll be very good. I don’t know if he can beat the top MW’s but he can definitely be a contender, in my opinion. But he needs to refocus.
Hey Mania, maybe you should post your picks on MMAPlayground =p

Totally spaced. I’ll be back on. Just so busy lately slipped my mind.

I absolutley love Dargo in this fight. Nate hasnt fought in a long time, he is campless after recently being kicked out of team quest. Drago is a tough young fighter who has experienced some bad luck in the octagon. Its time for a few things to start going his way. Drago 2nd rd TKO
SHOGUN.
This will be an exciting card, even though no title fights are scheduled on it. I expect some brutal KO’s.
Shogun will put Forrest out of the UFC…”and you can take that to the bank”

I’m salivating at the thought of Shogun’s UFC debut. He is the pride fighter that is getting the toughest warm up opponent so far (Forrest) in his UFC debut. I also expect him to make the best debut since Anderson Silva.
I have Shogun has the #1 toughest (young fighter) pound to pound in the world.
I would have him ranked over GSP. I expect him to come out and completely outclass Forrest. I can’t wait.
Din Thomas vs. Ken flo is a tough fight to call. I am looking forward to that one along with the fitch fight, Tyson griffin, leiben vs. martin.
I am also looking forward to seeing how Machida will do against Nakamura. Machida is a guy that gets a lot of hype. So far I’m not sure that I am buying the hype. I havent seen anything special from him in the UFC yet. Of course I watched him destroy franklin on the internet, but in his UFC fights I haven’t been too impressed yet.
I’m happy to see that since Swick pulled out of the Goulet fight and they replaced him with Hazlett, this fight has been demoted to a prelim. Props to the UFC for replacing that fight on the main card with Drago vs. Quarry.
I really dont care too much for the Liddell vs. Jardine fight.
Right now I would rank Chuck as the #4 or possibly #5 in the world at 205 depending on wheree you Rank Wanderlei
#1 Shogun
#2 Rampage
#3 Dan Henderson
#4 and #5 are chuck n wanderlei, I cant make up my mind as too who is better right now. Im leaning towards wandy since atleast I can see wanderlei beating Rampage and Henderson. I dont c Chuck beating Shogun, Rampage, Henderson, and possibly not even Wanderlei (although stylistically Wanderlei is a dream match up for chuck).
and as for Jardine, he is in no way ready to be worthy of main event status. Dana knows there r more TUF fans out there then informed fans, therefor he is selling the Liddell vs. Jardine fight as the main event. Ne one who knows mma knows what the main event really is.
Shogun will live up to all hype. Dismantle Forrest, scare the crap out of Chuck in the process and then proceed to walk though everyone to the title within the next 12-18 months.
Please don’t let me down Rua!
Believe me, I’m a big fan of Shogun’s but in respect to Rampage and everything he has accomplished recently, he should be ranked #1 LHW in the world.
Shogun will put Forrest out of the UFC…”and you can take that to the bank”
Forest is known for his heart. even if he gets beat down, i don’t see forrest thinking about a career change anytime soon
Believe me, I’m a big fan of Shogun’s but in respect to Rampage and everything he has accomplished recently, he should be ranked #1 LHW in the world.
Normally I would agree, but Since Shogun destroyed Rampage already, I think Rampage is gonna have to take the #1 spot from Shogun. I am a huge Rampage fan, but since he really got his ass handed to him by Shogun, I cant rank him over Shogun until Rampage proves that he can beat him. I really dont even like having this discussion since Shogun and Rampage are both in my top 5 favorite fighter catageory, but I have to call a spade a spade!
However, I think Rampage is NOW ready for Wanderlei!
Hope to get Wanderlie vs. Henderson 3 in the Octagon
I wanna c Houston Alexander in his next fight against either Wanderlei (since he is currently prolly only ranked 5th at 205) or Forrest after Shogun completely outclasses him in 2 weeks.
If Houston Alexander keeps winning…..
UFC 85: Black on Black crime
Rampage vs. Alexander. lol

This is going to be the first event where the Main Event is the fourth fight that I am looking forward to seeing. Here is the order I am looking forward to:
1) Fitch/Diego
2) Shogun/Forrest
3) Griffin/Tavarez
OMG, what the hell. How did I just put Griffin/Tavarez as 3. That fight should be #1. NoNo, Fitch is my favorite WW, and I can’t stand Diego and its going to be a great fight. Best fight on the card in my opinion. Then we got Shogun vs Forrest!!! The debut of Shogun. Forrest the warrior going head to head against the relentless, Mr. Pure Aggression himself, Mauricio Rua. This is the best fight.
How do I rank these 3 fight?? ALL 3 will be spectacular, assuming Forrest lives past the second minute of the first round….
I think that I am looking forward to all 3 of those fights just about equally, and I don’t give a fuck about Liddell/Jardine!!!!
AND those of you with Showtime, DON’T forget about the EliteXC event coming up this weekend as well.
Main event is for the MW belt, Ninja Rua vs Robbie Lawlwer.
But that’s not what I’m looking forward to. OUR BOY NICK DIAZ MAKES HIS RETURN this Saturday!!!! He is fighting some dude named Mike Aina.
Also, Nick’s buddy and training partner, and the just about un-beatable as of late, Jake Shields is fighting Sheruto (BJ Penn’s BJJ instructor).
There are other names on the card that you would recognize as well, but I just don’t feel like going to EliteXC’s website right now. That’s probably why I messed up the spelling of Sheruto and possibly Aina. lol.
Shogun is a great fighter but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to be really hurt by his upcoming fight. Sort of like how CroCop was supposed to annihilate Gonzaga, I remember very similar theories and predictions.
Face it, fighting in the cage with the unified rules can be really different for some fighters. Shogun has his work cut out from him since its his first time in the UFC, first time to my knowledge fighting in front of a large crowd inside a cage…against someone who purposely picked to fight you as the quickest way to get to the top of the heap and has a huge fan following.
The pressure for this fight is squarely on Shoguns shoulders.
I wanna c Houston Alexander in his next fight against either Wanderlei (since he is currently prolly only ranked 5th at 205) or Forrest after Shogun completely outclasses him in 2 weeks.
As much as I’d like to see HA vs Wand, it won’t happen. I’m very confident that with all of his prior accomplishments, Wand will only be facing the upper-echelon of 205 pounders. HA will need to win a minimum of 2 more fights before he gets a crack at any of the top tier fighters.
I should say “it wont happen anytime soon”.

I would have, but Machida really does have a boring style. Not someone I ‘look forward’ to watching. As a matter of fact, he was so boring, that his previous fight got downgraded from main card to prelim.

unless Wandy wants a warm up fight, like all the other PRIDE guys did. Although Wanderlei has fought in the UFC b4 and like Henderson he has earned the right to only fight the best. That beung said, it prolly is gonna come down to if wandy wants a warm up fight 1st, if he does, Alexander is a great opponent, if not give him Chuck.
Either way, I’ll be happy just to c Wanderlei’s first STARE DOWN in the octagon!
Imagine wanderlei vs. Alexander, what a stare down that would b.
All though the best stare downs have to go to Rampage and Wanderlei.
Violent mike: U pointed out that Houston is 35/36 years old, with that being said I think Dana has to capitalize on this guys new found fame right away. I dont expect to c him fighting for the title without beating 2 top 10 guys first, but I would like to c him to fight at least a wanderlei or even a Henderson.
It is ludacris that this MORTAL (forrest) even attempt to enter the REALM of Mauricio SHOGUN Rua. my prayers r with the family of forrest griffin.
This is just another attempt by the UFC to make Chuck Liddel look better than he actually is by matching him up against Keith Jardine. Chuck Liddel is not the top tier of the LH division. Anyone else agree that this is another attempt to make Chuck look better than he really is?
did yall know Shogun beat up Rampage back then in Pride? He also train with Wandy in Chute Boxe Camp. I’d would like to see a rematch in the UFC, that would be awesome and even Wandy too, he whupped Rampage twice by knockout in Pride. Both of them were a serious theat to Rampage and could fight for the title if Rampage remains a champ at the time. And also like to see Houston Alexander vs Rampage and also Houston Alexander vs Wandy Silva and that would f#ckin awesome!
I see a lot of Drago support here… I think you all have forgotten that they fought before and it was over in 42 seconds…Nate’s victory … 2nd round…via KO.
I finally get to watch Machida live! He needs to win in an exciting fashion. Everyone already knows he’s good, but he has to show that he is entertaining too. If you watch his fights before the UFC, he is definitely fun to watch. Nakamura should be enough competition to make this an exciting fight.
Also, I know most of you have your head screwed on right, but what is with the “Forrest is going to knock out Shogun” b.s.? Never going to happen.
With all of the new talent, it is possible that all but the welterweight division will have a Brazilian champ.

HA vs Wand stare down would be intense but the Rampage vs Wand staredowns are something else. There is true animosity between those two. You can almost see the laser beams coming out of their eyes lol
What do you think HA vs Hendo would look like?
Diego/Fitch has the makings of a great scrap. Both guys have the potential to challenge for the belt for years to come. WW is by far the most competitive division in the UFC, and these guys are two of the top five fighters in this division (IMO). Diego takes it though, in impressive fashion… assuming the Diego of old returns.
I’ll go out on a limb - Forrest wins. Yeah Shogun is an absolute killer. But he aint fighting in Pride anymore. Forrest is well rounded, he’s experienced, and he’s a part of an awesome team. He’ll be well prepared for this fight, and I see him surprising a ton of people. On that note, I see Shogun surprising (disappointing) us to. Shades of CC, Nog - face it, fighters in the UFC used to be considered overrated (largely by fans of pride), mabye it should have been the other way around… and don’t ever compare Forrest with Bisping - Forrest has earned his stripes…
Lidell will find a tougher test (in Jardine) than many on this board expect. Jardine got KO’d in his last fight, but what great fighter hasn’t been devastated? The guy was moving up the ladder prior to that fight…and I’m sure we’ll see why against Lidell. Regardless, Lidell wins this one…
And please!!! Stop overrating Alexander. The guys got KO power, but he’s not a belt contender yet (not even close). He beat an underprepared Jardine in May, and on Saturday he knocked out a bag of pucks…give him a top fifteen LHW and we’ll see whay happens…
I think i should remind everybody here that Rampage is THE UNDISPUTED LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.
Just wanted to respond to the comment about Hamill building his fan base. Just because he got severely screwed by the judges doesn’t mean I love him now. His striking was improved but he still has work to do there and he didn’t do much of anything when he had Bisping down. How long has it been since that particular TUF series- a year and a half? He’s improved but not as much during the same time frame as say a Koscheck who was also once a one-dimensional wrestler.
Hamill didn’t so much gain a supporter here as Bisping and Zuffa’s corrupt staff of officials lost one.

This isn’t likely but Jardine does have a puncher’s chance. What if he puts the Iceman down? I’m actually leaning more towards Jardine in this one just cuz.

Rampage said when he was in Japan he had second-rate training and would get called for fights on short notice… sounded like excuse making at the time- blah blah. But he has really improved since coming over here. His striking, his ground game. So looks like he wasn’t just talking sheeeyat afterall. A rematch with Shogun will be quite exciting and I would put my money on Rampage this time. Don’t forget his cage experience too which has tripped up other Pride fighters debuting here.

If the UFC is smart- which is in doubt after the Hamill-Bisping fight- they’ll give Alexander another easy fight or two- easier even than Sakara- and make sure the guy continues to improve and receive well-rounded training. In other words, put him in UFC protected status. I see Elvis Sinosic’s phone ringing soon.
Wanderlei needs an easy to medium warm-up fight. Let’s see, how about Elvis Sinosic…
Personally, I don’t think that Jardine will last three rounds against the Iceman.

I agree, I am interested in seeing if he stays as domoinant without the soccer kicks. I absolutely love Shogun but he was one of the best soccer kickers there was in Pride and that was a huge part of his game. So I am rather excited to see how he can translate that dog fight mentality withot the aggression and power of those kicks…
Id love to see Wandy/Ortiz II, Ortiz beat him in the first fight, but I doubt it would happen again. But who knows, Rampage has Liddel’s number, and Liddel has Ortiz’s number, maybe Ortiz has Wandy’s number. Id love to find out! What do you think?
Id love to see Wandy/Ortiz II, Ortiz beat him in the first fight, but I doubt it would happen again. But who knows, Rampage has Liddel’s number, and Liddel has Ortiz’s number, maybe Ortiz has Wandy’s number. Id love to find out! What do you think?
Thier first fight was soooooooooooo long ago, that it wouldnt even matter if they were to fight again. Its almost comparative to Marvin Eastman and Rampage. Marvin beat Rampage toward the beginning of his MMA career. Then years later they fight, and its a one sided Rampage victory. I think, and hope, that this would be the same case here with Wandi busting Tito’s face open wider than Jenna’s vag.
i’m actually lookin foward 2 seein gray maynard back in the octagon, he should of won his last fight and there is somethin about the way he fights thats excitin i like him but of course i’d rather see jardine v chuck in front of that i’m jus statin a point
HAHA LOL POOR FORREST, I AM A MEDIC AND I WISH I WORKED AT THAT FIGHT THAT NIGHT THAT WOULD BE A GOOD TRAUMA!!
With all the old talent, that is highly unlikely.
