I know Tavares has trained quite a bit with Big Nog and Anderson Silva. This leads me to believe at age 22 and a record of 16-0 ( even though its against mostly unknown opponenets) he will be a force in the lightweight division.

he’s still an underated fighter and never had an exciting match up since the last one in ufc 73. florian is also underated cuz he hardly throw some spectacular fight and he’s not a very strong or explosive fighter. he fought sherk and he slacks and backing off too much. i hope din and florian come out new and improved and also stronger than before. if din beat huerta or other high level fighters, then he does deserve a title shot.

From what I understand John is that they will have fighters progress like this.

TUF is for the newcomers that are willing to be on a reality show.

Ultimate Fight Nights are the bottom of the barrell events of the UFC, and it will continue to stay that way. This is where you will see a lot of fighters from TUF as well as UFC newcomers.

Then as some of those fighters win fights, they would progress to fight on UFC’s HBO events. These would have bigger names than on Ultimate Fight Nights, but not Pay Per View quality. For example, you’ll never see Randy fight on HBO.

The UFC PPV’s will continue to be the top MMA events. We all know what a UFC PPV is like.

So with this HBO deal in place, there is a sort of progression that the fighters will take in order to make it onto the PPV. This makes me happy because I can’t stand paying money to see the likes of Alberto Crane fight in the octagon!

Florian is going to be a tough fight, if he beats florian he deserves a title match. Im not a fan of Thomas but he is a proffesional in every sense. He’s not bad mouthing the UFC or their current roider champ. I hope Dana see’s that this guy is a tru fighter that deserves his title shot. Unlike Barnett who is just spitting venom at the UFC and Randy. Thomas made his point clean and clear.

Dana White first said he was coming close to a deal with HBO a few months ago and then it all fell threw. Then about a month ago Dana said hes in negotiations with HBO again and if they sign the deal, it will basically only be fights of up and comers or fighters from the recent or future Ultimate Fighter shows. There will also be new commentators

Mike: I agree man that kid is nasty! He looks very comfortable in the octagon, him vs. huerta would be a bang!!!! Him vs. Griffin will also be damn exciting!

I would love to see him fight stevenson.

The only name I recognize besides his fights in the UFC is his first fight against Brian Gerraghty. I also see he has beaten someone named Johny Johny.

I really didn’t know much about Thiago’s past, but from what I have seen so far from this kid, he is as much if not more talent and potential that I have seen in a 22 year old!

He is 13-0, ending every one of his fights except for two of them - his 1st pro fight, and his 1st UFC fight. So that could be attributed to first time jitters.

He is know as a BJJ specialist, but if you have seen any of his fights, you would see how EXCELLENT his stand up is. He is LIGHTTNING quick with his strikes. He even attempts and lands some Cung Le type spin kicks. He is always on his toes while standing just waiting to land something devastating. While on the ground, he is world class.
