Anyhow, he’ll definitely add some spice to the HW division, and I think his wrestling credentials are strong enough to ward off any tainting he has from his pro-wrestling background.

First fight, I’m sure.

Anyway, it will be nice to have a Bob Sapp type around to mock, and can be counted on to occasionally maul someone. I can’t even imagine who Dana White would pit him against; probably some nobody. Personally, I’d like to see him fight Tim Sylvia.

Of course Lesnar will fight a can. The guy has 1 fight. They’ll throw him in there against an eddie sanchez type who will look completely overwhelmed the second they stand toe to toe.

Which, of course, is what they should do. He’ll probably have 2-3 fights against various types of opponents (a la Huerta). See him fight a nobodies who are one-dimensional. A good striker, then a good submission guy. Set him up for an end of 2008 fight against somebody decent, like Werdum, or whichever top 10 heavyweight has a had a couple losses in a row in a year from now and is barely considered a top 10.

Will Brock Lesnar be any good? I don’t thnk his fight earlier proved or disproved anything. He did exactly what we expected of him. Personally, i’m excited to see what he can do. I just hope people dont’ expect too much of him too soon. I could see him faltering a few times by being caught in an armbar or a knee on a shoot.

I wonder if the UFC should have a super heavy weight division? Heavy weight could drop to 205-230, and superheveyweight could be 230-300 (?).

I see a lot of guys like Randy, Vera, etc who are not huge heavy weights. Huge dudes like Lesnar could have their own division.

brock lesnar is a freak. have you seen him wrestle for minnesota as a heavyweight he was huge then. it made sense in a way for him to go the pro wrestling route… nothing wrong with making money.. had the state of mma/ufc been as prominent as it is now.. he might have went ahead and chosen mma, like so many former ncaa wrestlers are doin these days.. like anyone else it’ll take some time for him to fight and defend himself technically.. in the meantime it’ll be entertaining and exciting watching him fight with his raw skillset and watch him develop down the road…

I agree about Lesnar’s dubious visions of MMA world domination. I’m sure he’s good. I haven’t watched his one pro fight (read about it), so I realize he took his opponent out in short order. But his opponents in the octagon will simply begin training to deal with his size and weight. If he believes he has a cakewalk ahead of him, maybe that’s a good thing. Because we’ll get to see the beauty of MMA at work when he gets beat by a smaller and physically weaker opponent.

I personally hope Lesnar just gets mauled by someone. I would love to see him get KO’d the way CroCop got KO’d in his Debute. Or some one with vicious knees like Vera so when he goes to shoot for a single leg he catches a flyng knee and wnds up with Rich Franklin FAce. Slyvia has that devastating round house and a beautiful jab to close up them eyes. bring Munson back for the Darce Choke.

Even the guys on TUF for the most part have been grinding it out in minor promotions for a while (I know, one guy was totally lied and was totally green). Brock has ONE fight total. I’d be pretty annoyed if they bring him directly to the UFC. I also think it’d be pretty unsafe and wonder if the NSAC would saction it against someone with the expereince and record of Sylvia.

Why waste your time on this BUM! Why not sign Tommy Morrison? Or all the other wannabes?

Lesnar beat a nobody lets face it. The guy he beat is just under novice and just above janitor. Straight up Brooklyn Brawler type jobber!

SERIOUSLY DANA use the money your going to spend on him for Fedor!!!

Better yet sign both and make their first match against eachother!

I would like to see Fedor send Lesnar into early retirement!

Here’s a play by play:
Fedor and Lesnar touch gloves
Lesnar takes a punch to the head and another and another. Lesnar is now being kicked in the thigh over and over again.
Lesnar tries to punch back, but Fedor laughs
Lesnar goes for the take down but Fedor reverses it and has side control.
Lesnar is now in a Kamura, he fends that off but now is in an armbar…..oh broken arm =(
He loses! All that in the first minute!

I thought Dana would only sign Lesnar if he agreed to train MMA for a year before fighting? Sure, Lesnar is a big strong wrestler, but any heavyweight who’s even see a picture of an armbar will sub him just seconds after the first takedown. So after Hardonk, who else could Lesnar fight?

It doesn’t matter who Lesner fights. Dana is thinking dollars. One thing about Lesner, is people will pay to see how he does, and he knows how to hype up and promote a fight. look for a lot of WWE style trash talk.

But after all is said and done, I don’t see him making a run at a title. Some interesting match ups yes, but no title.

Lesner is nothing more than a circus sideshow. We as mma fans are wanting to legitimize this sport, well, bringing in the old WWF talent isnt it. He offers the UFC only 1 thing and that is PPV buys. Instead of negotiating with the bearded lady or the man with a tail, the UFC needs to reel in the Japanese talent that was left homeless when Pride was bought.

As of right now, Lesnar fighting in the UFC is a joke. But he does have a boat load of potential, IF he is willing to put in the time, and stay focused. But unfortunately for him, he tends to give up on sports/ativities very quickly, whether he is successful or not. He was on top of the WWE when he left. He left because he wanted to play football in the NFL, with NO previous football experience. He didnt make the Vikings team, and they offered to send him to NFL Europe to develop, but he said no. So now MMA is on the rise, and he wants to jump on the bandwagon. What he needs to realize is that the people he would be fighting have been training MMA anywhere from 4 years to their entire life. He has been training for what, 6 months?

When I said that he had a boat load of potential, this is what I meant. First off, he is a HUGE HW. Not only that, but he is exremely agile for his size. He’s no awkard-goofy Timmy Slvia. He is athletic. Then he has world class wrestling skills, I believe he was national champ in college. He was definitely an all american multiple times. So with his size, brute strength, and great wrestling, he would need to add a few more things to his game before he can be a legitimate MMA fighter. He is going to have to work on his stand up and clinch game for about half the time, and focus the other half of his time on BJJ, primarily for defensive purposes. If he can do the above, I see him having the potential to become the Matt Hughes of the HW division. If Randy can pick up Gabe and slam him the way he did, can you imagine the type of slams Lesnar would be pulling off in the octagon?

Nope unfortunately the NSAC wont allow it!

However what they will allow is a ring of fire, broken glass on your gloves, Jean-Claude Vand Dam some kicker boxer guy as guest refs (Since they are experienced in these matches)!

For those who dont know, Lesnar started his MMA training with Royce Gracie & Pat Miletich. If I’m not mistaken, I believe he’s still with MFS. Forget about his WWF career! MFS Gracie BJJ All-American in college = true potential to be an MMA beast. Be clear that this may all amount to nothing in the end but Lesnar in the UFC could also prove to be very exciting. Now we get Lesnar which is cool, but no mention of FEDOR who we all want more than anything. But yet Dana well continue to do what he wants without any consideration to the fans and integrity to the sport.

We will have to set through AA vs TIM III, Cro Cop vs RANDY, Conzaga vs Cro Cop II, Mir vs Tim II, Silva vs Franklin II & III, Hughes vs GSP III & IV, Hughes vs Penn III & IV,

Do you get the idea!! UFC is ignoring its fan base because now it knows its all we got!! The arrogance I see in interveiws with Dana and Joe Silva is wrong!! Take or leave it!! Seems to be their attitude!!

He brings in as much credentials as a lot of these other MMA fighters. While I’m not a fan of his smack talk it’s obvious he knows how to market himself and the fact that he’s causing all this hype is proof of that. As someone said earlier, he hasn’t done anything to prove or disprove the hype. He has as much potential as anyone in the UFC Heavyweight division. Let’s wait and see what he does.

Ok think about it like this. Koscheck and Lesner has a almost the same NCAA wreatling background (Kos did win the championship a few more time), with both being NCAA champions. Now Kos has done pretty well with his limited time in MMA. Lesner will do better and i will explain. Lesner has the advantage of being much stronger and quicker then most if not all his challengers. Not only will he be able to hang on the ground but he should be able to power out of most subs. I cant see anyone have long enough leg to get a triangle on him and i would thing he could power out of a armbar from the top. Now if he works on his guard from his back and his stand ups skills (boxing) i dont see to many guys beating him other then say the top 3. My worry is we may never know because Lesner is in it for the money and once he gets what he wants he may quit.

In all seriousness if Dana wanted to make a hybrid type show he should make a UFC tournament event with all these wannabes!

Mike Vick will be taking care of the bodies….ohhh too soon (SORRY)

I’ll wait till I see Lesnar step into the Octagon before I get excited, and probably not even then.

This is after all coming from Dana White. His Guarantees mean squat.

Lesnar hasn’t beaten anyone of note in MMA. They better give him some cans before they throw him in with a top 10 guy.

Yeah, except everytime he was about to pick up the Big Show, the Big Show would jump. And one he would have him in the air, Big Show would be using his arms and hand to help support his weight by holding onto Brock’s shoulders. Fake wrestling is totally different. No fighter will be helping Brock pick them up, it would actually be the exact opposite. They would lower their base and keep all of thier weight downward. Keep watching wrestling…

Why do people discard Lesnar’s (Olympic style) wrestling abilities just because he did the fake stuff? Let’s see what he can do, whether he gets smashed or he smashes someone. Sign him to a one-fight contract. His first UFC fight could draw PPV buys. This is still, after all, a business. And the more money the UFC makes, the more money they can put back into the organization, and in the end that’s better for us fans too.

What is the UFC about?
It’s about Real guys who get into an octagon and really hit each other.
The idea is to let men see who is the best. To let people prove whose fighting style is the best.
If Brock lesnar thinks he can beat top guys even though he’s only had 1 pro fight, I say give him the chance… whats the worst that could happne… we would get a really cool knockout for the highlight reel?
Who cares about his days in the wwe. If you want to get technical, before that he was a true college athlete; the past doesn’t matter, all that matters is how he does here in the UFC. If he knocks guys out and gets the title, sweet. If he gets knockedout and never sees the title…. sweet. It’s a win/win situation.

Brock has been training mma for a couple years now.  Not to mention he has been training with his college coach and the legen Royce Gracie!! Brock will shock the world with his ufc debut. He quit wwe because lets face it, Vince Mcmahon is a dick, and I’m sure there was some turmoil there. As far as his short lived football career, he was not that bad. I’m sure minnesota didn’t sign him because during a scrimmage play brock made a tackle, was pushed after the play and charged back starting a brawl!! I’m sure the higher ups decided that he was probably to aggressive for the sport and didn’t think it would be a good idea to sign somebody that is going to beat someone up after every play. I can’t wait to sit back and watch Brock put a foot in everybody’s doubting mouth! Tim Sylvia is a punk by the way, Brock would smash his face in!! The guy has no heart!!!

Lesner is like 169-0 or 1 loss or something like that in wrestling. Sure he has alot to work on, but there isn’t one guy out there maybe Monson, that can deal with him on the ground. He’s just to damn strong. He might get submitted early, granted. But over time, watch out. UFC has already proven its a lot faster pace, the PRIDE guys minus Fedor or Wanderli, can’t stand the quick pace. Brock will take position at will. He’s a true athlete. Just don’t count him out. We’ll see if he can take a punch. And, hell, he’s learning Jujitsu from a Grace. Say what you will, but that’s where all of this started. That’s the big thing. I think he’ll make a good addition.

This guy isn’t just some hack WWE wrestler. He’s for real. He’s an undefeated amateur wrestler with immense size, strength and skill. Based on his background, I might take that roids bet.

The kid worked on a farm his whole life. He wasn’t just milking cows and feeding chickens. He was carrying livestock around on his sholders and tossing hay bales and pulling plows at 12 years old. Because of his upbringing, he’s sure to have tendon stength that would make him hard to submit.

I can’t wait for him to rock some dudes. Once he gets a solid stand-up game, he’ll be hard to stop.

Alright, first off, some of these guys here are hugely underestimating the athleticsim and sheer toughness of the athletes, not just in WWE but in pro wrestling all together. Yes its scripted, but these guys perform 5 nights a week, 300 or so days a year. Educate yourselves. With that said, Lesnar not only will make an impact, but will be in contention for the top spot in the HW division for a long time. As long as he wants. The man isnt normal. Hes 280 pounds of strength, speed, agility, and an uncanny level of aggression. You will all see what I mean when he’s left the “pitbull”, the “maniac”, and yes even the “natural” Randy Coture in a daze inside the unfriendly confines of the octagon. Dana better get back to work on signing Fedor, before its too late and there are no heavyweights with the testicular fortitude to sign with the UFC.

where to start about Lesnar? He certainly has the right to compete in the UFC. Check his college credentials. My problem with him rests on the fact that while he is an amazing athlete he gives the APPEARANCE of illegitimency to a sport that has fought long and hard to lose its brawling image. Former pro wrestler (they are incredible athletes, but it’s entertainment, not competition), former(?) steroid abuser, current loud mouth douchebag. But that is part of the beauty of combat sports, put up or shut up. Do i want him in the UFC? No. Do i want to see him get his fucking mouth shut/broken/hospitalized? Yep.

I wouldn’t make fun of Brock if I were you. Brocks not a push over I mean look at his size. He’s 6′3” close to 280lbs and very quick for his size and not slow like sylvia.
Not forgetting his wrestling ability, former NCAA wrestling champion. He’s just as good of as a wrestler as koscheck maybe better. Plus he is learning jiu-jitsu from the master royce gracie’s camp. i can see him hangin in there with couture and vera, mir. Brocks only in his mid-twenties and the guy has accomplished alot already. Brocks a force to be reckon with. Can’t wait till he debuts in the ufc.

Brock lesnar is the next big thing of ufc. This guy has been pumping weights for years in the gym. There is no running from his pure strength once locked in that octogon. Maybe he won’t be technically great at first, maybe he doesn’t know all the cobra chokes and jujitsu ankle locks but power and strength will be all he needs I’m picking. Not to mention outstanding wrestling skill base. Surely he will be thrown straight into big fights as they surely wouldn’t pay him the big dollars to smash bums. I think test him with Arlovski, a legit striker. That would be a great test. What do you guys think?

bro, Brock is a world class wrestler in high school and college 106-5…106-5. You really think he’s so stupid that he can’t learn different styles. This guy knows how to train hard, he’s strong as hell, smart, and an animal. Yes, he might not be great at first but give this guy time and there will be no doubt he will hang with the best of them. Brock will run over EVERYONE for his first few matches! Then WIN the title within 2008! Of course for that to happen the writer strike would have to end VERY soon. Oh, and he would also have to talk to Vince McM. and ask for his old job back! The goof should have taken the Viking’s (NFL) offer, not wine, and worked on his field skills!
I think the guy’s gonna get so face-smashed (literally) he’ll be asking Dana “who’s supposed to win the main event?” by St. Patrick’s Day.
