The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued the medical suspensions from UFC 74: “Respect” this weekend. And the list of injured fighters is rather significant.
Randy Couture and Joe Stevenson, however, didn’t make the list. That’s odd because “The Natural” fractured his left forearm and “Daddy” sustained a broken nose.
Regardless, here’s the skinny:
Gabriel Gonzaga — “Napao” must have his broken nose cleared by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) physician or he can’t compete until February 22, 2008. The minimum suspension will last until October 25, 2007, and there’s no contact until October 10, 2007.
Alberto Crane — He must have his right medial orbital blowout fracture (Ouch!) cleared by an ophthalmologist or there is no contest until February 22, 2008. The minimum suspension will last until October 25, 2007, and there’s no contact until October 10, 2007.
Kendall Grove — “Da Spyda” is suspended until October 10, 2007, and there’s no contact for the Hawaiian until September 25, 2007.
David Heath — He is suspended until October 10, 2007, and there’s no contact until September 25, 2007.
Antoni Hardonk — Must have an MRI of his right shoulder or he can’t compete until February 22, 2008. The minimum suspension will last until October 10, 2007, and there’s no contact until September 25, 2007.
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

And no Couture?
What about Stevenson? I hear he had a broken jaw.

Broken nose. But previous fighters have been suspended after the fight for the same.
damn i still feel bad for kendall getting dropped like that, i hope he comes back and redeems himself, i’d still like to see him fight jason mcdonald
Jesus Christ, sorry. Great attitude!
kendall was just waiting to get knocked out like he did in king of the cage by hector ramirez. Patrick Cote showed superior striking.

I think that could be an interesting fight, however Mcdonald has proven himself with the top boys while grove obviously has not.
As far as Kendall, I was just saying befroe the fight that I KNEW Cote had much heavier hands than Kendall has dealth with before, and yeah, where is Couture’s suspension details? Or did they give up on limits for that guy?
NSAC - “Regarding Mr. Couture, he has sustained a hairline fracture in his arm, but we are sure he is fit to compete whenever.”
Couture’s stress fracture did not involve any displacement of bone(s), from what I read. That’s the best kind of “break” he could have suffered. It’ll heal in no time. A week of rest, and very light exercise for a few weeks, then he’ll be back to training as hard as he needs. But like I’ve read others comment, he could use some R&R for a little bit.
I havent seen the Cote-Grove fight yet… gonna ahve to check that out.
The Babalu-Heath fight is on DM btw peeps.

I would disagree. I acutally think that Kendall was winning that round up until that point. Kendall just got hit behind the ear by a punch that he clearly did NOT see coming. He had no idea that Cote was swinging. A punch that you can’t see/don’t know is coming will ALWAYS have a much more devastating effect than if you knew the punch was coming. Cote is an underachiever. I don’t expect much from him, even in the weak MW division. Kendall on the other hand has the potential to be champ one day in the future if he takes the sport seriously.

REALLY? It wasn’t a prelim, actually it was the first fight shown. Do you not order the PPV’s? and just watch the fights for free days after? If so, I don’t know how you can be so patient…
I dont even think that it was a great punch cote threw. He kind just threw out a lazy overhand hook that caught Kendall behind the ear. I expected much more out of Kendall since learning that he was training wit Randy. I wouldnt care if I never saw Cote fight again.

I guess we will see in the next couple of days, but i heard Babalu is walking away with a little fine, NSAC said there is no need for suspension
