*Note: The NSAC is withholding $25,000 from Babalu until it can review his controversial decision to continue choking out his opponent, David Heath, long after the light heavyweight tapped out.

babalue should be fined at least half and suspended for life. this is ten times worse than any steroid scandal.
@Jamie
You better watch how you spell Babalu’s name or he may come and teach you some RESPECT.
Crazy the difference between payouts for some of the fighters. I would really like UFCmania if possible to find out the overall payout to the low, mid and higher tier fighters (which includes signing bonuses, sponsorships, pay-per-view percentages and other unofficial payments).
I’m sure anyone who hasn’t held a title bar a few dont get much more than what is stated above in the way of additional income, but it would be interesting to see.
Had Mazzagatti done his damn job, that incident wouldn’t have even happened. The fight should have been stopped well before that choke was sunk in. Talk about an all around disgrace of a fight
i didnt see th sobral fight.
anyone got video?
I wonder where I can buy on of those “Mug shot” T-Shirts?

Hahahahahahaha. He wont make it to his house though he would get stopped and charged with a DUI before he got there!
He tapped on Mazzagatti then on babalu..I think things like this should be made clear to everyone fighting and watching..Once the ref says stop..STOP..no a few extra cheap shots or squeeze a little bit longer..that’s a matter of life and death..What he did was wrong..made worse by the visual of alot of blood..and babalu did it to himself..by tapping himself on the back..like yep I had to him lesson..so I didn’t let go..what if that was him..tapping and his opponent not letting go till he is passed out. He trains wit good camp GB..I hope some1 puts him on.
It’s amazing how much UFC is raping these fighters. Only $10,000 for Koscheck fighting in the co-main event? Wow. LOL. How much longer can that possibly last?
Surprised they paid Marcus Aurelio as much as they did.

Why? I watched the fight and it was a bloody mess but it wasn’t over until he locked the choke in. The only problem was that Heath isn’t in Babalu’s class and was dominated and beaten bloody.

the tuf guys (especially first season) signed really long contracts for smaller amounts of money than they deserve, but a guy like kos will get lots of money for sponsership seeing as he’s known by a lot of people, cause of the tv show. dana also gives out lots of bonuses, if it’s exciting he gives out bonuses, if you win by (t)ko or sub you get a bonus, sub and knockout of the night bonus, and fight of the night bonus. so these are not good indications of how much these guys actually make, i remember with the interview with hughes he was asked if he makes more than $300 000, and he laughed … these figures are merely a base pay, it’s actually a smart idea, it encourages guys to fight to impress rather than just win (i’m guessing kos doesn’t get a lot of money, he’s not usually that exciting)
Guida needs to get paid more. His fights are always exciting. I guess Frank Mir still has a pretty good contract huh? He got 36,000 just to show up after his last fight only lasted like a minute and a half.
I’ll bet RC is a Multi-Millionare at this point.
Jamie-Would you condone Steroids over chocking someone? and to ban them for life? It was only a couple of seconds and Heath was fine after the fight.
Good to see KOS only got $10k and GSP $140k
Kos, you got to win 7 fights or loose 14 to make what GSP made from beating you once. How does that make you feel? I don’t think you will brag or be cocky about that.
babalue should be fined at least half and suspended for life. this is ten times worse than any steroid scandal.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Calm down. It was hardly as bad as others are making it out to be, and not that much worse than BJ when he did it to Jens. I don’t know why everyone is crying so much. *rolleyes*
Worse than the steroid scandals? Please. This is the fight game. $25,000 is more than enough punishment.
Can’t believe KOS only got 10K and Kendal Grove made less than 1/2 of the less popular Cote.
Still, why should these guys make ridiculous Tyson like money…..if & when they do you’ll see the sport nosedive, guys fighting nobodies for huge sums, and they’ll loose hunger…just look at boxing.
I liken the pay scale to “Actors” pay scale. The more people you draw, the more money you make. Big wins and high visibility translate into more dollars.
Take a look at Tito Ortiz. That guy is not even close to being top tier but boy can he get the hype going.
If Koz was able to win over GSP, do you really think Dana White would not reward him with a bump in scale? He would have went from 5 to 6 figures I bet.
Until they get settled, fighters like Koz and under will get (relatively) lousy pay days. Heck, until the UFC, half of these fighters were working other jobs just to get by.

Ten times worse than the steroid scandal? Grow up. Watch the fight first off, it was 3 seconds between when he tapped and when babalu got hios arms untied, sure he meant it but come on, Royce Gracies subs’ were WAY worse back in the day than this.
i didnt see th sobral fight.

type in David Heath on Dailymotion to view the fight, the blood was crazy and made it seem worse
KOS fights GSP and gets less than Grove AND Cote?
KOS signed a crappy contract after TUF1 to still be making only $10K. If I’m not mistaken, Chris Leben gets more than $10K to show.
Randy Couture made less in this title defense than Tito Ortiz did in his bout against Evans.
250,000 versus 400,000
And from Matt Hughes alluded to, he makes “well over” 300,000 per fight as said in his interview which was posted on the website.
yeah by no means am I a huge Kos fan….but he is getting bent over backwards on this one and taking it from the man. Frank Mir get’s that kind of money?? He’s looked like shit the last few fights….I guess that 66K is gonna buy him some more street bikes. Go on strike fighters…you deserve more. While Dana White is wiping his ass with his $100 roll of toilet paper , people like KOS and Stevenson who is fightin who a brokin jaw are getting taken to the cleners!!
what disturbs me:
If the UfC is gonna pay huerta $2000 more then stevenson, when stevenson is a marketabale guy to some extent(TUF winner) and he fought a much tougher opponent than Huerta faced(crane)
If Dana is gonna pay Huerta more money than joe stevenson, then its time to “put huerta through the fire”. Huerta is gonna have to start fighting tough fighters from hear on out. I had enough of watching a talented fighter like huerta fight nobodies.
In his next fight huerta better fight:
Stevenson
Florian
Guida
Tyson
Aurelio
He’s gonna have to fight someone wit a “name”, cuz I had it. Pampering is ok to a certain extent, this is just ridiculous.
Marcus Aurelio — $30,000 not bad for losing, first UFC fight where as Josh Koscheck is a proven veteran in the top 7 in the welterweight division. I guess his myspace blog months back is true. He is probably upset with Dana and obviously who wouldnt be. You can possibly feed your family on 10,000. Think about it, you fight every three months essentially so that is $3,333 per month. After taxes, yes they fill out w2’s just like we do it roughly $2000 if your lucky. Living off 500 dollars per week and you are supposed to be a professional athelte ? OUCHhhh someone check Dana’s bank account cause that shit is probably lookin P-H-A-T
Kevin “cuts” Kelly
Frank mir making $66,000 thats a lil crazy.
The guy was a great fighter a while ago… lately he has looked like shit and he’s making that much for a fight against a nobody… and a fight that wasnt even aired?
Wow Dana must love Frank Mir
Does anyone know what the fight of the night was?
Guida is always getting screwed!!
In his next fight huerta better fight:
Stevenson
Florian
Guida
Tyson
Aurelio
I would have liked to seen Huerta vs Stevenson and Crane vs Pellegrino!!
This makes much more sense! It is this kind of matchups that make it so obvious the UFC pampers their fighters!!
Had Mazzagatti done his damn job, that incident wouldn’t have even happened. The fight should have been stopped well before that choke was sunk in. Talk about an all around disgrace of a fight
that fight should have been stop along time before
Guida is always getting screwed!!
That split decision was a total screw job. How can 2 judges see it 30-27 for Guida, and the other see it 29-28 Aurelio, how can there be that much discrepency between judges in a clear-cut win? There was no way Aurelio even won 1 round.
Guida schooled Aurelio, the guy who put the #1 fighter in the world to sleep. Guida has done well in the UFC against top comp.
Guida still is the XFO light-weight champion too, he’s still got the belt.
Is Randy not getting a win bonus because of the high PPV cut he’s taking in? I wonder what else he got in the contract.
WAh wah wah Heurta doesnt make SI cover money… STFU!
babalue should be fined at least half and suspended for life. this is ten times worse than any steroid scandal.
No. I find this comparable to when an athlete from any other sport does something that is deemed unsportsman-like conduct. Yes, he made him unconcious, and yes, it was wrong. But, I don’t think he should be banned. Holding half of his purse and suspending him sends a strong enough message to anyone else who was thinking about doing the same thing.
Christ almighty do none of y’all get it?
First, Josh signed his contract when nobody knew him except for TUF. He makes over 100,000/year. Don’t cry for him, because his base pay is only 10k. His win bonus probably would have been pretty nice and well quite frankly exciting he is not.
Second, Joe Daddy also signed his post TUF contract years ago before MMA became huge. Of course he’s not going to make as much money as Huerta who just recently signed a new contract post SI cover.
Third, Mir was on the last fight of his contract that he signed when he was HW champion. Hell yeah he makes lots of money. Where he goes from here is a good question but at the time he signed he was as marketable as anyone.
Fourth, does anyone actually believe that at the end of the day Randy will earn anything less that 1 million from this fight?
Just like Rich Franklin gets a hellva lot more than his contract dictates, all of these guys have “hidden” money that is not reported to the SAC.
koscheck should be getting paid a lot more than that to fight gsp in a co main event fight, i’m not a big fan of the guy but he’s earned a bigger pay day than that…that makes me think that really was him on his myspace thing spouting off about dana not coming through with the cheddar
Wow very surprised at the Guida payout and the Koscheck payout. There she be an additional bonus just for being in a main event or co-main event fight.

Bonuses for finishing fights or having exciting fights don’t really apply to Kos. If Dana gave out bonuses for blanket of the night, Kos would be in Trump’s tax bracket.
If Dana gave out bonuses for blanket of the night, Kos would be in Trump’s tax bracket.
lol…except this time, KOS was a picnic blanket GSP was lounging on for 15 min.
everyone should be paid at least 50 thousand dollars.

Ya, big John would have slapped a rear naked choke on him.

I think Kos made enough. All he did was lie on his back the whole fight displaying his “world class” wrestling lol.

Koscheck gets 10 K because he is a punk and has always had a bad attitude. If he was a bit more marketable via a positive sportsman like attitude he could possibly make more money.
babalue should be fined at least half and suspended for life. this is ten times worse than any steroid scandal.
dude how can you say that, if BJ Penn did the same thing to pulver the only difference is that pulver didnt pass out, but I highlly doubt that they would have suspended BJ for life are you crazy, Babalu deserves a fine and myb sum time off but not to be fired, and banned for life, dude your cucu

I think the opportunity itself is enough, if I was a fighter and they offer me a fight with GSP on PPV and they say that they wouldnt pay me anything, dude the opportunity to beat a person that many, including me believe is the best mma figter on TV would be enough all the $ and bonus stuff would come later
