BW, I hear what u r saying. It should be a war. Who is the smart $ on though?
even though i think aurelio will win, this is pretty much an even fight and would hate to bet any money on it, but if it goes to a decision and the fight is close the smart money would be on guida. i think the judges might try and make up for some of the close decisions he's lost. this happens all the time in pro sports.

The reason your boy is 0-3 and will soon be 0-4 is because of the way he fights. It might be more exciting at times give or take, But I'd rather see the best possible Mixed Martial Artists contend than a stand and brawl boxing match. Uncontrolled flurries, and Brawler type fighters lose(just ask phil baroni, probably one of your favorites) when they fight the more disiplined fighter of todays mma they get owned plain and simple. The ufc fighters (I.E. competition)is the best now that it ever has been.
Actually Crane Wins, if you knew anything, you would know that "our boy" is 1-2 in the UFC. He lost a close decision to a Top 5 in Din Thomas and he lost a split decision against Tyson Griffin in a fight that it appeared Guida had won. Griffin even believed so himself.

You said that Clay Guida is nothing but a "Uncontrolled flurries, and Brawler type fighter" that looks for a "stand and brawl boxing match". In my opinion, and alsmost every other person's opinion, he is a VERY well rounded fighter. Did you not watch any of his fights and see his ground skills? He has great wrestling skills as well, which he uses to take his opponents to the ground.

You also said, "when they fight the more disiplined fighter of todays mma they get owned plain and simple." PLEASE do tell me a fight where Clay Guida go OWNED in the UFC - I think you'll have a hard time finding one. Since his 6th pro MMA fight, he has only been finished twice, both by submission.

Please don't attack people that like certain fighters. And I don't like Phil Baroni - he's a self promoting jerk.
Excellent analysis ViolentMike. Very well put.

i dont' know about a win getting him in the title picture, but it will be big for his career, i know all his loses are close fights against top fighters, but if he wants to be a champion he needs to be winning those fights convincingly, he might be able to make an argument that he should have won one or two of those fights, but it wasn't obvious, i don't think he got screwed or anything, just because you look good in defeat doesn't mean you actually won, you need wins to get to a title and thats it...

This is what the UFC should be about. True brawlers like Guida who put it all on the line for the win. It's taken a sad turn of late. All we see now is "punishment clothing line" this and "come to my afterparty" that. It's great to see Guida bring back the old school aggression of the good ol'UFC days. Go Guida!

Competition is the best now agreed but I wasn't taking so much about actual MMA skills when I spoke about the old days of UFC but rather the attitude that the guys had. That is what I admired back then compared to today's UFC generation. I agree with you that the level of skill has increased tremendously and I never miss a fight just like everyone else on this site. It's the attitude of the fighters that has sadly started to diminish since the old days. Guida's attitude towards bringing it reminds me of those days. Plus, I agree with Just1Fix, Guida has a very solid ground game.

Now it seems like the big goal is to score an all-access show and to show your place a la MTV cribs. Bring back the war mentality!

I don't remember any shows about Tank Abbot's crib. Well, I guess they didn't allow cameras into bars back then.
