brandon vera signs 6 fight contract with ufcUndefeated heavyweight talent Brandon Vera and the UFC agreed to a six-fight contract extension, according to FightNework.com.

The deal locks-in the services of “The Truth” seemingly until sometime in 2009.

Here’s the snip:

“UFC heavyweight contender Brandon Vera confirmed on Fight Network Radio Friday that he had agreed to a six-fight extension with the Las Vegas-based promotion.”

Just last week UFC President Dana White announced that Vera was finally back after management issues shelved him for months. In fact, he hasn’t competed since defeating Frank Mir via technical knockout at UFC 65 in November 2006.

There is already some speculation — fueled mostly by remarks attributed to White — that Vera will lock horns with former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia as early as UFC 77 on October 20.

Nothing at this point, however, is official.

Vera has spoken numerous times about fighting at heavyweight and light heavyweight. With the stable of skilled fighters brimming in both weight classes, it would make for some very exciting match ups.

And now he’s got the time to get in on the action.

THATS AWESOME.. Vera is an amazing fighter. one of my favourites. I cant wait see what fights come up for this guy.

He should Really Think Of going Down to Light Heavy Weight .
He Proved he can bang with the big men BUT he would dominate in Light heavy.

I agree, I think that he is better suited to 205… I actually think the same thing about Cro Cop

Hell yeah Vera vs Chuck and Wandy those would be incredible fights, but he has a chance to be a great heavyweight also.

It’s great to have him back in action. He’s a great addition to the UFC LHW and HW classes and he is always exciting to watch.

Would you say the same for Andrei Arlovski? What about Randy Couture? I tell you what, lets get rid of the weight class thing all-together. We can setup a tournament, ENTER THE DRAGON style with fights to the death… sorry I kind of got carried away there. So anyway, Frank Mir should stick to broadcast., Ken Shamrock’s son Ryan shouldn’t follow in daddy’s footsteps., and I want to see Fedor fight Jens Pulver for the open-weight championship of the world. Thank you and good day.

Yeah Vera belongs at LHW. I hope that’s what he decides. Why give up size and strength to your opponents when you don’t have to. He’d be a big guy at 205 that’sfor sure.

Great news. Good to hear this guy locked up for the future. I really don’t care at what weight he fights at, as long as its aganst top level opponents. Enough cakewalks, time to find out if he’s the ruth or just a big lie. Im thinking a true star is about to be born

Ya, Vera was deadly in his last match, I’m curious to see how the lay off will effect him…..
He is 6′3 and weighed about 233 in his last fight, ya I saw the gut but still thats a decent size to be in the HW division.

Vera is soooo ready to fight. He said the wait is like sex with no release. Sounds like his wife might be frustrated too. Appearently he’s retained with Soku so i’m sure he’s ready to go. Timmy might wanna take an extra month to recover.

Yeah look at Fedor too. Good point. I thought he’d be better suited at 205 and I said as much early but it doesn’t really matter. Either way we’ll see good fights from him.

Before Pride was taken over Shogun said he saw himself moving up to fight the best at HW in the future. In other words Fedor.

Tito should fight at HW, the big cut is part of the reason he gases. His supposed number 1 thing, his cardio is well overrated. Maybe 205 would be tough for Vera, who knows. I’m sure he’ll make the right decision either way.

The whole cardio and energy issue is a possible reason that CC doesn’t fight 205 and Bisping doesn’t fight 185. (He’d be a monster at 185, freakin’ huge).

P.S. Sorry if my Bisping comment offended any Bisping bashers….Okay I hear ya he couldn’t beat Silva, Franklin, Okami, Marquardt and co at 185, let alone hang with the big boys at 205. He’s overrated and unproven yada yada yada. Whatever.

Oh yeah Tito could make 170 if it wasn’t for his mongo head.

Vera vs Cro Cop would be interesting.

I also wouldnt mind seeing Vera at 205 taking on Wanderlei…. oh snap! but that would never happen, too much to risk, but one can dream.

That’s great that the UFC signed Vera. I hope it was worth it since the guy has done nothing but talk for the past year.

I haven’t seen any mention that Vera CAN make 205. Bisping talked about dropping to 185 a few months ago and then said forget it. Crocop has already said no to LHW.

Cro cop said that he has no room in his body to drop down to 205. He said this when he was asked about fighting liddell. He said Liddell would have to move up in weight cuz there is no room for him to cutt down

Some of u dont feel he is big enough to compete against the elite HW of the UFC. What he lacks in size, he makes up for with his athletisism. He will prolly be the most agile HW in the division, only HW close to him athletically is Arlovski.
He has fought big guys like assuerio silva who was much stronger then verra was, n he looked fine. I think he has the stuff to make it at HW, and If I were him id would stay at heavy weight, because its a much harder climb to the top of the LHW division then it is the HW division.

Wandy is 5′10, I dont c him moving up to HW and I don’t believe chuck ever will. But y wouldnt anyone want them to leave the 206 lb division. Its such an exciting division… the possibilities are salivating, and u want to take 2 of its best fighters out of that division? y?

Chuck and Wandy besides fighting each other, both have a list of tough opponents for them to fight that would be interesting. I would be pissed personally if they did leave the LHW division.

Vera can fight at both LHW and HW, he wants to hold both titles at the same time. Dream on. I wouldnt want to have 1 man hold both those titles. With all the pride guys comming over, there are so many dream matches to be made, having 1 guy hold both the HW, and LHW titles, would just stall everything!

John, I never said I wanted to take anybody out of the LHW division. I’m just saying things happen. Wandy and Shogun won’t fight each other right? All I’m saying is if there comes a time when they are #1 and #2 in LHW. Would one of them move up? Would Wandy go to MW? And if and when they get Fedor… litterally EVERYBODY wants a crack at him. I’m just thinking up senarios, that’s all.
Nathan, you are right… his face is annoying for some reason.LOL

Here’s hoping he gets a Fedor, W Silva, Liddell, Shogun or Nog immediately so we can stop listening to him endlessly calling out people he is not capable of beating.

Tim Sylvia will be a big enough challenge for him.

If he wins that one, I’m a lot more likely to listen to what he has to say.
