Quoteworthy (from UFC President Dana White):

“As crazy as this sounds, this is the pinnacle of my seven year career in this company. I’m so excited to have this guy under contract. He grabbed my arm and looked me in the eyes like one of his pre-fight staredowns and he said ‘I’m gonna fight so good for you, you’re gonna see the best fights ever from Wanderlei Silva…. This guy is a real fighter. He reminds me of Chuck Liddell, and he’s the kind of fighter that all fight fans love to see fight. He’s a gunslinger. He will get in harm’s way to inflict damage and pain. This guy comes out like a speeding train and never stops. He goes for the finish, he likes to knock people out, and I just think he’s going to bring so much excitement to the UFC, I feel like I’m going to jump out of my skin.”

Former PRIDE FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva will return the Octagon in December for the first time in more than seven years — no opponent has been named at this time. “The Axe Murderer” is a light heavyweight who was almost booked to fight former 205-pound champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 76: “Knockout” in September. What great news to start off my day. Now drag tito’s bitch ass to the octagon n let wanderlei smash his face in (december). I really dont wanna c wanderlei fight chuck in his UFC debut. He is signed, there is no rush. Id like to c him destroy tito 1st.

We have to get wnderlei vs henderson part III
The serious is split at 1 win a piece, a third fight is inevitable. WOW!!!! Excited

WOW! What great news to wake up to. about Time! I just hope dana doesnt rush the fight between him n Liddell. Wanderlei is signed no reason to throw him in the cage wit chuck right off the bat. In wanderlei’s return to the octagon, his 1st fight should be him avenging his loss to Tito….. I really wanna c silva smash tito’s face in. I doubt Tito will ever come up wit the guts to get in a cage wit wanderlei, rampage, or shogun, but hopefully Dana drags tito to the cage n throws him in wit silva. Results: Tito get mauled in the 1st rd.

Dream match opponents for Silva:
Tito

Liddell

Verra

Hendo 3 wit the series split at 1 win each a 3rd fight between the two is inevitable

Rampage 3 (curious to c if Rampage learned to stop the tai clinch)

Forget Shogun, they would NEVER fight each other

Seeing wanderlei destroy Rashad would be entertaining.

If Houston Alexander beats Sakara in a dominating fashion,
I wouldnt mind houston being wanderlei’s warm up fight(they would both put there chins down n swing for the fences) in no way do I think that houston has a shot at winning. But it would be entertaining (if Houston continues to fight like he did against Jardine that is)

I would have added Forrest to that list, but I suspect that forrest will be out of action for a while after what shogun’s got in store for him. After that fight it will be a long time b4 forrest gets into the ring wit a chute box fighter again.

Welcome Axe Murderer!

Wanderlei and Shogun are training partners as are Koschek and Fitch. I’m sure there are plenty of other sets. Those guys will never fight each other. That might seem like BS at first- that fighters should be prepared to fight whomever the UFC says. But those guys are so good BECAUSE they train with the best. So certain additional considerations have to be made when they’re trying to put together a PPV event.

Plus shogun n wanderlei r more like family then training partners. wanderlei is older then shogun n they been around each other forever, so shogun prolly grew up lookin up to wanderlei. Point being, they r family n we will never c them fight each other. Lets respect that, cuz I dont know about you but there’s no way Im fighting my brother in the octagon.

If u r just training partners I say fight!
If u r family, or consider each other family then I have no problem wit them saying they wont fight each other.

Shogun sacrificed a lot because how tight he is wit wanderlei, He has never had a title shot only because of how close him n wanderlei r. If he stepped away from title contention, then obviously these two r close to the point were they shouldnt fight each other.

Doesn’t mean we cant watch n enjoy them destroy everyone else

Who cares about Wanderlei signing at this point? Its been done weeks ago and the actual signing was just pro forma. More interesting, in a recent interview Sokodjou revealed what the deal-breaker with the UFC really was. It was NOT the money, he said he offered even to fight for less money, if they would give him some names. But - as he stated - the UFC is too protective about their fighters.

After asking to fight for example Michael Bisping a UFC representative replied with: “Are you on crack?”. He did not wanted to reveal any names of those who have been offered to him as opponents, but he said that they’ve been offering nobodys/nonames.

RobH: I have seen a couple different interviews (wanderlei) saying that now its Shoguns time to shine, and that shogun is the Chute Box question.

So to answer your question. Shogun will definetly get 1st crack at the title. If Shogun doesn’t win the title(which I really doubt) then wanderlei will go after the title. But IM Positive that Chute Box plans on having Shogun as the UFC champ.

Many guys from the UFC have a good shot at being LHW champ: Liddell, Couture and Vera could be within the next year or two… In the more distant future I could see the champ being Forrest, Rashad, or Bisping. Dana, for all the good things he did for the UFC, he sure makes it hard for us to like him when he does boneheaded shit like that.

The Liddell vs. Silva fight is a given, but the other opponenets that Silva may potentially fight are awesome, as well. I agree John that seeing Silva fighting guys like Evans, Jardine and Griffin won’t be the most appealing, but fans would still pay money to see those fights, I know I would. What I would love to see is Silva rematch with Ortiz and fight Vera, when he decides to down to Light Heavyweight.

They’re going to put Wanderlei against Chuck; at least, they should. Anything else would not only be a disappointment, but also a betrayal. Because of that, Shogun is going to get the first shot at a title (if/when he beats Forrest Griffin, he’s next in line to go at Rampage or Hendo).

Ideally, we’ll see a Shogun vs. Wandy fight. It was impossible before, but now that Silva isn’t associated with Chute Boxe, there’s nothing keeping them apart.

Tito Ducks every tough fighter, and I suspect that he will do the same when talks of wandy vs. Tito start. He will use his unsettled beef wit rashad as an excuse, then he will come up wit another excuse, and another. Tito belongs in the WWE

Would pay anything to c Tito get mauled by Wandy

I just hope Dana smartens up and gets rid of his huge EGO. Wasn’t he bad mouthing W. Silva a little while back? And now he is as happy as a 5 yr old kid that got his 1st bike on his birthday…..I just think Dana is bad for the UFC.
I don’t think we will see Pride ever again. They are just working on making the UFC the only MMA Brand that everyone will know. I think the only person that can ruin that is DANA because he sometimes speaks before he thinks and takes shit to be personal. Be a business man Dana, but don’t become a Vince Mcmahon. This has already been said and yet I will repeat it in hopes of this topic gaining attention/momentum…

In December, Wandy vs. Tito WHO WANTS TO SEE THIS ON PPV?

This fight is interesting because it has so many layers to peel off. Tito has his Victory of the pairs first fight and Silva has to want that opportunity back at some point, Tito needs to bring his reputation back with a dramatic victory over a NAME fighter at least as well known as “Tito Ortiz”.
Wanderlei Silva provides an impressive name. Because two doses of Shamrock and two *barely holding on for a decision* victory/tie over the UFC TUF young guns and another beating from Lidell are not keeping Tito in the same light he once enjoyed. I think he’s got the tools ,he just needs to wow people again.

This fight would definetly have a Winners Winner and a losers loser. It’s all on the line. They both have a past, present and future in the UFC. And if either of them does win dramtically, think of where that cements both of their own individualy legacies in MMA. And if it’s a an Absolute WAR, then a loss might be better then beating a nobody anyway in the eyes of the fans. Two types of fans will be watching.
Those that want to see Tito Get Pummeled by anyone and those who want to see Wandy kick the crap out of anyone.
And that’s why Tito needs to take this fight…

Reminds me of my younger days watching WCW…in like 93′
Ric Flair- “To be the man, You gotta Beat the Man”

BZ

p.s. almost forgot the “WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAH”

What happens if Griffin beats Shogun? And Wandi vs Tito would be a good warm up fight for Wandi and a chance to avenge a loss. Wandi would KO Rashad in Rd1. Griffin and Wandi would be a bloodbath though we will prob never see it. Page has got to be sweating it knowing all the guys who beat him are now signing to the UFC. Even if Page defeats Hendo i dont see him making it past a second title defense.

Hey,
With all due respect Chuck and Randy were/are great but the UFC have had too many threesomes…Randy,Tito & Chuck, Tito, Chuck & Randy etc etc…meaning those guys weren’t improving by fighting each other so often (no other competition I guess), Pride guys were fighting more “top” guys cause it’s a stronger division…..look who is champ, is going to be champ & who will be champ(Shogun).
I really like Griffin & Bisping but Griffin will never be champ(love his fights and is a great guy), Bisping possibly but will need to improve tenfold asap.
Vera…top guy….spent alot of time with him socialising and having a chat…he wants HW first for sure(though Fedor may be a slight obstacle) and then and only then will drop to LHW. He’s the (old)UFC’s saviour….imo

I’m also concerned about the UFC being “the one and only” MMA organisation. Competition is good….Pride V’s UFC is good…Dana’s Guy V’s Dana’s Guy…bad.
PS..Franklin/Okami…Liddell/Jardine…c’mon…poor main events

If his opponent isn’t up to it they get smashed, and if they are, they normally get smashed for a bit longer b4 the fight is stopped.

Axe Murderer back in the octagon, now the fun really begins. Give Wanderlai one of the TUF guys as a warm up to reacclimate himself with the cage. Then put him in with Tito Ortiz and see if he cuts through the HBB. The following fight, you guessed it…Chuck Liddell, the fight we should have saw in November of 06, that’s a pick em fight. Chuck could KO him like Henderson did, he’s got that kind of power. Wanderlei could give him problems with that thai clich he used to desimate Rampage.

I think Rampage could beat Wanderlei, you don’t go through 2 loses with out learning what to watch for. Rampage has TKO power as well and demonstrated it against chuck. Henderson can beat him again and would give him another TKO. We don’t how these fights would turn out until we see them happen

yes!wanderlei silva finally.i’ve seen all of his fights in pride and it’s always exciting!he’s the most intense fighter i’ve ever seen.my only worry is that he gets dq’ed for those soccer kicks he loves to throw, which were aloud in pride. anyway i can’t wait to see him fight in the ufc. i don’t care who he fights , i’m ready for the kind of intensity he brings to the big show. he’s been by far my favorite fighter ever. bring on ortiz, lidell, rampage, hendo. win or lose the fights will be very exciting and aggressive.can’t wait! to see what he can do to destroy an opponent look at the open weight tournament when he fought and destroyed fujita. it was great. fujita weighed in at 265 lbs. wanderlei made a mess of him. just can’t wait to see him in the octagon! good work to dana white he is truly getting the best fighters in the world. soon he’ll have fedor, don’t worry about it.

IT IS LUDACRIS THAT THIS MORTAL (ICEMAN) EVEN ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE REALM OF WANDERLEI SILVA.
