randy the natural couture
Spike television network will run four hours of programming dedicated to UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture on August 23 from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. ET.

Dubbed “100% Natural,” the “Captain America” marathon will promote the mixed martial arts legend and UFC Hall of Famer, as well as his upcoming showdown with Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 74: “Respect” on August 25.

Here’s a snip from a recent press release:

“… Spike TV pays tribute to the champion with a marathon of programming featuring some of his [Couture's] greatest moments inside the Octagon.”

Check out the schedule:

  • UFC Unleashed (10 p.m. ET) — The UFC 68 bout with then-champion of the division Tim Sylvia in which Couture pulled of one of the greatest (and unlikely) comeback performances in the history of the promotion.
  • Countdown to UFC 74 (11 p.m. ET) — Get a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming pay-per-view event, which also includes the welterweight clash between Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck and more.
  • UFC All Access: Randy Couture (12 a.m. ET) — Former UFC Octagon Girl and program host Rachelle Leah chronicle Couture and his training leading up to the big night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • UFC Unleashed (12:30 a.m. ET) — Couture and Mike Van Arsdale clash at UFC 54: “Boiling Point.”
  • Pros vs. Joes (1:30 a.m. ET) — Three “regular guys” attempt to escape the grasp of Couture in submission wrestling matches.

We’ll be sure to pass along another reminder closer to the actual showtimes of these programs. For more information about UFC 74 check out the fight card here or our complete archive here.

I’ll definitely be taping it, to keep from going commercial stir crazy. A 25 min bout stretched to an hour!

Damn! This is awesome but y wait till the night b4 the pay per view. Its toooooooooo long away. It would have been better had they produced like a randy documantary instead of just showing us a couple episodes of UFC unleashed feautirng Randy. Show some oh his fights from the older events that arent out on dvd

Who am I kidding, Im still gonna watch it

Pros vs Joes… what a CRAPTASTIC show that one is.
What happens if Randy shows age and gets owned by Gab?

Even in a defeat to Gonzaga..The Natural will forever be what a champion should be..Randy sets the bar for what a champion is..He is a living legend and what happens in the Octagon against Napao will have little or no negative affect on the Natural’s persona..I would love to see Randy win and shock more people and to hopefully have a Couture vs Fedor match..in the near future..believe it or not I think Randy still has what it takes from what I’m still seeing to beat Fedor right Now if that fight would to happen. Gonzaga will bring his all at UFC 74..I’m Brazilian and always root for my Brazilian peeps..in this fight my love of the sport roots for Captain America and my pride roots for Gonzaga..basically as a fan I’m in a win situ..but still believe in miracles.

If he does then he’ll still be a legend and still be the most classy fighter/champion of all time. No loss can take away his accomplishment in his fighting career and all that he has done to promote the sport of MMA

in a fight against gonzaga, randy will loose the way any warrior or legend of his status would want to loose… with guns blazing and swords swinging with all his might randy will not go out without fight. against gonzaga randy will die a warriors death, simular to arturro gotti and other great warriors of my time. he will return home beltless but still a legend in all of our eyes, a legend that i will tell my kids about, for a legend never dies. i will never forgot the wars he gave me that brightened my whole month. ill never forget how he destroyed that giant tim sylvia or how he defeated chuck liddell, so even if he looses to gonzaga i will still feel that all is well because he will loose the way all warriors would choose to loose, with guns blazing and swords swinging and his mark on the mma world would last forever.

Personally I would love to see the natural win this match. It would only add to a fantastic career and add to a fantastic comback.

First he de-throwned the undeserving king at the time (Tim Sylvia) and then took the crown to became the King of the jungle.

Beating Gonzaga would be like a lion defending his leadership of the Pride under attack by the seemingly stronger and more youthful lion (sorry “kenpostarfighter” has got me in that warrior talk mode), so him defending the title would be perfect in my mind.

The final chapter would be him fighting Fedor. In this match I would love it to be a war with couture the victor, but I think Randy would definately lose. However in my world of fantasy there is a silver lining, here it goes…

Once upon a time…

Randy fights a good fight but is eventually overwhelmed by the sheer power, technique and savagery of Emelianenko, BUT what he manages to do is use his famous strategic mind to show huge holes in the seemingly flawless game of Fedor, basically even thoguh he was unable to execute his plan fully he shows the path to the rest of the world on how to destroy the previously invincible Fedor. After this the closest fighter to Fedor decides to train under Randy Couture for a match up with Fedor and the whole world wait for the outcome.

And they live happily ever after

See, better than Harry Potter!

Even if Randy loses he’s still in the game until he’s 45.
