Tamdan ‘Barncat’ McCrory will fight at UFC 78 on November 17 in Newark, N.J., according to an article in The Ithaca Journal.
No opponent has been named at this time.
Here’s the snip:
“McCrory’s next fight is in November in New Jersey, and he’s looking to make up to $12,000 with a win, with a possible $30,000 in bonuses and endorsements off that fight alone.”
That’s some solid beer money for the 6′4″ 170-pound New York-based college student-turned mixed martial artist.
Up until this point, the tentative UFC 78 fight card has been loaded with 155-pound talent such as UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk (maybe), BJ Penn, Frank Edgar, Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon.
McCrory — a self-proclaimed nerd — is an undefeated welterweight who has one win inside the Octagon to his credit — a submission of veteran Pete Spratt at UFC Fight Night 10.
Stay tuned for more details about his likely opponent. In the meantime, check out the latest UFC 78 fight card right here.

Not really UFC news, but the K1 2007 GP is on tonight, 3PM Hong Kong time ( 08:00).
go Aerts!
UFC 78 should just be an all lightweight night. Might as well if more than half the fights are gonna be that way, but then again there’s no way in hell I want to miss the Arlovski-Vera fight.
This kid is only 20 years old and has tons of potential. I can’t wait to see him evolve as fighter.
Go Barn Cat!
I hope that its not a all lw fight card, that ufc is in my backyard ill def be there. Hah.
Nice to see history being rewritten in the Ithaca Journal article. First of all, it says, “[Marc] Ratner joined the UFC in 2000, and shortly thereafter, the unified rules were formulated.”
It also says, “Ratner also explained that UFC is careful with its image. For example, when two fighters on the Spike TV show challenged each other to a backyard rumble, the UFC kicked them off the show and declined offers from the network to televise a fight between the two. “Spike wanted to put them on the air and we said absolutely not,” Ratner said. “We said we wouldn’t reward thuggish behavior.”
In fact, Spike TV requested the fight, Zuffa agreed to the fight, which was then booked and officially announced. A week later, after numerous editorials in outlets such as the Houston Chronicle criticizing the UFC’s decision to reward street-fighting, UFC president Dana White publicly claimed that he had never heard of the fight and that it was being cancelled. Then just a few weeks ago in an ESPN interview, White said that the UFC had agreed to the fight but later changed its mind. And now it looks like the version of events that will go down in history, or at least UFC management’s version of history, is “Spike wanted to put them on the air and we said absolutely not. We said we wouldn’t reward thuggish behavior.”
I suppose they removed the beer and hard liquor from the house when they filmed TUF 6, right?
