I would align them as follows:
1. BJ Penn
2. Joe Stevenson
3. Kenny Florian
*8. Din Thomas
5. Spencer Fischer
6. Tyson Griffen
7. Thiago Tavares* on the fast track with a win over Griffin
*4. Roger Huerta
9. Frank Edgar
10. Nate Diaz
Flip-flop Huerta for Thomas and I'll roll with that.
Thomas has a long record with a recent victory over the "carpenter" but he doesn't strike me as electrifying. Also, I'd draw a line between #5 and #6 as the cut-off for the gold division. Anyone from #5 up is ready for a title shot (inclding Spencer Fisher).
I like Roger Huerta a lot, be he really hasn't fought ANYONE yet. Which may end up being a smart decision. He is only 24 years old, so theres no need to rush him into a title shot. His 4 wins in the UFC all came against UFC newcomers. He has yet to fight someone with UFC experience. The only loss on his record came to Ryan Schultz who now fights in the IFL. I personally think that Spencer Fisher and Tyson Griffen should both be ranked WELL ahead of Huerta, just based on their level of competition alone. Also, I see way more potential in Thiago Tavarez than I do in Roger Huerta. I would love to see Tavarez vs Huerta after they each win thier next fights. However, I if Tavarez beats and finishes Tyson Griffin, he may only be

There's no way Din Thomas should be in the top five...

There's no way Guillard should be ranked while he's not in the business (though his talent is undeniable)...

There's no way Nate Diaz should even be mentioned in this discussion...I agree with the comments above about Diaz (Stun...)

What about that English kid who faught on the Manchester card...Etim??? I see that kid making waves...

While Melvin Guillard certainly doesn't have the best UFC record in the organization, that fight he had with Josh Neer certainly should have been stopped by the ref. Melvin cut him open better than Ive seen most boxing matches with the exception of Lenox Lewis and Klitchko which was nasty. The blood was gushing from Neer's eye hardcore and no one would have complained if it was stopped. Melvin got caught on his back shortly after and then was beat. He's not one of my favorite fighters in the least but at 155 he has a great deal of potential especially with his experience overall.
No, I mean in the wake of UFC 73, which is the event that Sherk failed his test.
My Bad. Read the article wrong. I am a huge Guillard fan and if he gets some submission defense and a good sprawl he would give anyone a run for their money with the bricks he carries alomg with him.
