ufc 74 randy coutureUFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture will be a guest today (Tuesday, July 31) on the ESPN program, “Rome is Burning” with host Jim Rome at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The 30-minute sports talk show features a “mix of rapid-fire dialogue, hard-hitting analysis and no-holds-barred opinions.” Couture will do the segment via a satellite feed from the Xtreme Couture Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It should be nice nationwide exposure for “The Natural” prior to his bout at UFC 74: “Respect” against Gabriel Gonzaga on August 25.

Be sure to check it out if you have the chance. I will try to pass along some updates of the segment after the show if anything noteworthy is revealed.

I doubt he has the balls to call Couture “Chris.” To check out this classic Rome interview click here.

Haha I don’t think Couture has the lack of confidence that Jim Everett has, to pull something like that.

Plus I think Jim Rome has a lot more respect for Couture than he does for a guy who gets sacked by ghosts.

A little off topic, but I have been going back and watching Couture fights, and it seems like every time he fights someone, the person is never in their element, he doesn’t look that great, but it’s like the other person just lets him do whatever he wants. I wonder if that is just perfectly executed game plan, or if he is just that damn good that people can’t get comfortable fighting him. Maybe both. I think he is going to have to make this a boring fight if he plans to keep GG from submitting or KOing him. Not many boring Couture fights though, he is an entertainer.

Randy Couture is probably the best fighter at creating a perfect game plan and sticking to it. The guy is rediculous when it comes to that fighting technique.

He makes gameplans specifically to keep opponents off-balance, confused, and out of their element. That is how he dismantled Tim Sylvia so dominantly, and knocked out Chuck Liddell in their first fight. That is another reason why it pays to be well-rounded. Couture always has at least one or two more strengths than his opponents, and he always uses it to his advantage. It shows that you have to be smart for that level of MMA competition.

he better have proper training to go with a good game plan. he’s got too many other commitments and no one forgot what happened last time someone underestimated gonzaga

Randys gameplan are really “that good”. He is a consumate proffesional that will not let movies and media attention keep him from being properly prepared to defend his title.. He WILL defend his title! Randy walks away with the belt!

RC is a natural. He can do the outside life and make it happen in the cage. As long as he doesn’t do the party life like some of the younger guys. RC has been there done that. Has nothing left to prove. Win or Lose it will be a great fight that he will be well prepared for.

Randy’s a true role model of how to handle yourself in the public eye.
