God that was awesome. I hope the UFC uses that! now that it owns PRIDE
This is the first video that you’ve posted that I can see from work. Usually have to go home to watch em. Link from this site more. haha..
Good video, that perspective kind of humanizes the people that are getting knocked out. Different point of view.
ditto
Ya, that shit was awesome. I actually felt sad there for a minute. Usually I’m screaming and punching the air. I actually felt bad for the loser this time….
Someone posted it a couple of weeks ago on another site and people got all sentimental. It shows partly an aspect of PRIDE that many people loved: every fighter had his own path and story within PRIDE and fans had alot more insight into whats going on behind the scenes. You saw footage like this from former fights, you saw the fighters hanging out backstage, fighters meeting up with fans around the arena, footage from their life within the hotels and some pranks they pulled.
Somehow I never got such a feeling in the UFC. Its always 1-2 scenes of the main event fighters about their final preparation, then the fight, a silly interview with Joe Rogan after the decision and inbetween an hour of commercials. Pride had that whole “entrance” thing worked out, fans really thought of the fighters as gladiators (the UFC equivalent is the stupid intro scene with a homoerotic bodybuilder re-enacting a scene from the Gladiator movie with Russell Crowe).
Yes, this comment is biased, not objective, I am a PRIDE nuthugger, but maybe there are a few others of us here as well and share the same sentiments.
THAT WAS THE BEST FRIDAY VIDEO YOU HAVE HAD TO DATE!!!!
WHO SINGS THAT SONG UFC MANIA AND WHATS THE SONG TITLE?
Why doesn’t the UFC have Ref cam? That was awesome, the close up view of the fighters was intense. The action seemed much faster at times and your really see some unique angles.
@Stunnalator: its Coldplay, the title is “Fix you”
that was pretty cool
Boondock makes some of the best HL’s for MMA. He’s the friggin man. Check out Furious Angels by him. You can find it on youtube.

I agree that the Pride atmosphere was a lot better than the UFC, fans, intros, etc.

Very true. Pride had a much better overall atmosphere than the UFC, the presentation was better.
I posted this before and it didn’t show up for some reason.
Hmmm… not to question any of you on your respective masculinity, but it appears to me that I’m the only one who felt that Coldplay was a little too pussy to be scoring for PRIDE highlights. Maybe next time I’d like to hear something with a little more testosterone… like Kelly Clarkson… or how bout Boyz II Men??
I watched it without music, no Coldplay will ever hit my ears again. I made that mistake once. They should have played some Slayer.
one of the best highlight videos ive ever seen

Yes, right on! Finally someone dares to speak out and I salute you my friend! Let’s define our masculinity by the music we listen to instead of how we act and behave in life! Much easier this way, woohoo! I just hope I don’t accidently hit the “shuffle” option on my iPod or am exposed to radio music, ewww. Might really screw up my act.
Loved that video…That was awesome. That just fuled what started to be a slow friday morning on the westcoast

Normally you would be right. But Coldplay is an extreme case.
Bring Back Pride!
Bring Back Pride!
Bring Back Pride!
Nothing will ever beat Boondock’s Giant Silva highlight. One of the funniest vids I’ve ever seen. The best part is one of my friends, who isn’t bright, thought it was a legit highlight. He actually thought Giant Silva hadn’t beaten Fedor, among others

For those who haven’t seen it

There is nothing wrong with being a “nuthugger”. I’ve been called one on this site before. I agree that Pride had a few elements to its production that far outshine their UFC equivalents, but the UFC has certain features that are better.
With Pride, it seemed to be more about the fighters, not the league. The only element of this I found annoying were the entrances. They were too long most of the time. I did like the complete warrior element, which is hard to describe, that they created as a backdrop. Also, because it was in Japan, where martial arts has a long history, the fans “got it” more than they do here. Top all that off with the tournaments.
Having said that, the UFC has a good thing going with TUF, but it would def be better if they upped the caliber of fighter. I prefer the cage to the ring, mostly because its annoying when they have to move the fighters away from the ropes.
I left a lot out, because I dont want to type forever, but I think the best thing would be for both the UFC and Pride to adopt the more preferable elements from each.

Pride had the better production by far…. How about those opening ceramonies? Bushido production was always good… Ill never forget when Sakuraba was walking to the ring at critical countdown 2005…. The sun rose on the arena dome… Great production.
From this aspect UFC not even close to Pride
Thanks for the PRIDE perspective. I personally don’t care too much about the intros and normally like to see instant action. But i’d definitely be curious to go behind-the-scenes.
Anyone know of any links to behind the scenes of crocop, cyborg, and others?
Sorry If I bruised your ovaries there. It was just a joke, Susan
As an MMa fan, that was the best HL/MMa vid I’ve ever seen!!! WOW! Sick facking vid!! Seing Cro Cop after Big Nog submitted him…man I love that dude…win or loose he’s an embassador to our sport.
P.s. Can’t wait to see GSP destroy KOS!
Wicked shit right there that was an awesome vid!
