“I don’t know if he wants to fight, but we haven’t spoken to him and I’m not planning to use him.”
– UFC President Dana White tells Yahoo!Sports that he is considering releasing Ken Shamrock from what is left on his contract despite recent statements from the 43-year-old MMA legend that say otherwise.
UPDATE: Shamrock has been released from his UFC contract, according to FightNetwork Radio.

yes.
Somehow information changes sooooo many times b4 we, the fans, end up getting the correct information. This isn’t anything new. This is something we all have to deal with. And by the way…yes, Ken is senile!
Ken’s not senile!…He’s just a little brain damaged is all. One or 50 to many Tito elbow smashes will do that to you.

Don’t give the credit to just Tito….he did lose his last 6 out of 7 fights or something like that!
Why does the UFC still have him under contract and what the heck good is the contract if he is currently an IFL coach? He’s directly competing with the UFC for MMA television dollars. They put Ken in the UFC hall of fame as they should have but it’s almost like he has told them to stick it ever since. He did make a chunk of money for them hyping his beat downs by Tito though.
Have to post this again, from IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0787900/
I see he’s actually been in a couple of movies but I strongly recommend “Scarecrow Gone Wild” if you want a deep understanding of who Ken Shamrock the man, musician and philosopher is.
Just please remove all pointed objects from the room before the movie starts.
Think about this…how could the UFC sell a fight based on Shamrock?………..UNLESS….he fights the one man everyone wants him to…….his brother!…….Shamrock vs Shamrock would be a great sell and a short lived fight. But it would make money! Unfortunately,…Frank doesn’t get along with Dana, Dana has no use for Ken, Dana hates Frank, and last but not least….the damn brothers won’t fight each other. What bullshit!
If he fought again, he could end up being the first serious injury inside the octagon.
i luv kenny, i think he’s contributeed so much to this sport…the UFC wouldnt be where it is today with out guys like him and gracie and dan sevren and that one guy that looks like a buff magnum P.I.
…but come on he really just needs to leave the sport gracfuly, stay retired…open up a gym, sports bar or strip club…
the truth is i can watch him lose…i can watch him get his ass handled by rashad, or bisbing, or forest and find entertainment in it honestly. every one love and underdog, and who doesnt like a come back story…
…but i cant help but think of shamrock as one of my old HE-MAN action figures, with a miss-matched arm i barrrowed from beast-man, a loose left leg and chewed up head.
he’s just not the same as he was when 10 years ago.
sorry kenny i had to say it.
Ken shamrock, in my opinion, is what the ufc is all about, he’s a hell of a fighter, He’s the KING LION who fights his heart out.
I can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. Had Gracie not blew it with the steroid deal I think both these guys had one last marketable grudge match with eachother.
I would like to see him back in the octagon against someone where he’d have a good chance of winning. He’s a Hall of Famer and should go out on a good note.

ANDY WANG!
I’m so sick of you punkass’s on the internet dissing fighters from yourr safe little keyboards. News flash this sport wouldn’t be where it is today, without ken shamrock. But I guess this is how we treat our legends, they get past their prime and people forget about everything they’ve done. What a buunch of haters

your absolutley right he is a legend, thats why he shouldnt be fighting, he doesnt have anything to prove…if he tries to come back to the UFC, he’s just going to get his ass handed to him by every other fighter out there…then he wont be remember as a legend anymore, he will simply be known as “the old guy that keeps getting his ass kicked.”
easy bronco…Ken does it to himself by staying in the lime light when he shouldnt.
ah not again.. Fight on Fight off Fight on Fight off.
Oh the loveable Ken Shamrock … The only place I want to see this guy fight is in the ring, possibly a ladder match with the Brooklyn Brawler and Hacksaw Jim Dugan.
He should stick to coaching with the steak and chicken guy

Dude… Shamrock has only won 1 fight since 2000.
Information changes so much behind the scenes. Don’t ever take Dana White’s word for it. Dana’s word doesn’t mean shit.
Ken Shamrock versus Andy Wang I love it … Rocky Balboa versus the Samauri Warrior lol

Been there, done that. Now a list of asses Ken can still kick: Wang, Gabe, Matt Hammill, Danny Abbaddi, mine, the monkey-style guy from Bloodsport, Mike Goldberg, Hillary Rodham, and Lobstah.

I agree that these old-school guys shouldn’t be fighting, but the sad fact is that these guys probably don’t have a UFC pension, and they don’t know how to do anything but fight. Sure, they could teach, but that doesn’t earn anywhere near what one more beating in the octagon would get them. For example, how many classes would Royce have to hold to earn the $300,000 he got for his last fight?
Most people think the current fighters don’t get paid enough. What do you think these guys got paid back in their prime? I’m guessing not a hell of a lot.
Dana is pissy to the fact he works with the IFL..
PW you are out of your freaking mind let me tell you. First off you could definitly kick Ken Shamrock’s ass so give yourself a little more credit. Secondly, while Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn’t possess a great ground game (see Monica Lewinsky) she still has a great shot for the fight to go to a decision. She is a great scrapper no doubt about it. Possibly Hillary could win a controversial split decision ?

If Ken still runs The Lion’s Den in Dallas I may be a lot closer to proving or disproving that statement than I really want to be.
I appreciate your faith in me.

Yeah I know, but he never should have fought Tito the second or third time. Shamrock vs. Tank Abbott. UFC 165: Bring the Brain Damage!…Oh hell yeah.

Tank has to get through Kimbo first.
Shamrock was close to beating Franklin before he tried for a high kick then got KTFO. Can he compete? Sure… at a high level/contender? NFW!

He just beat Kimo in 2004, and he has a win in 2001.
He can beat fighters from his era. He can also beat Tank Abbott, I’d hope. Frank vs Royce Gracie would be a match worthy to be on the televised portion of a UFC PPV. As long as there is strong verbage in thier contracts stating that this is ABSOLUTELY thier LAST fight in the UFC

Ha ha hilarious… although he might fall to Danny Abbaddi… after all in his own words “IM A UFC FIGHTER!!”

Shamrock actually was doing quite well. He had an ankle lock and his standup looked good. Then he slipped with a high kick and forgot he was in a fight, stopped defending himself. So Franklin pulled down his own pants and crapped all over Ken’s face.

I think Ken should just go out with a bang, put him in there with Forrest Griffen!!!!!!!!!! I would love to see it!!!!!
I’d like to see who would lose between Shamrock and Tank. Seriously after seeing Ken not improve, or change his gameplan against Tito I figure he is punch drunk.
Poor Ken. He needs to quit, but many are on the money and Ken probably didn’t make that much money in his prime so he needs to take beatings to keep food on the table.
Im willing to bet Ken was released due to his affiliation with Tiger White, and what White said about Chuck. Ken will still draw fans to the arena…
Its either business or personal, dont try to blend it Dana.
How about Ken, Tank and Kimo in a triple threat Tables ladders and chairs match inside a freakin’ octagon. 5 minute rounds until someone can get the belt. Big John forgoes the ref duty needless to say. Maybe Mick Foley hops in there to hand them chairs.

Vince McMahon called, he might be the only one that will take Ken Shamrock back…
And thats KimBO not Kimo, make him sound like a panda bear in a cheap japanime
Apologies if I’ve probably grossly affended the Kimbo fans, but I actually meant KIMO Leopoldo, the tatooed guy. He’s around Ken’s age. Fought in the early UFC’s. Fought Gracie and lost to Ken I think. Anyways he’s not much good and he used ‘roids. The ‘roids and his appearance make him more like a WWE wrestler if you ask me. Oh yeah he’s also fought Tank too.

Who couldnt beat andy wang.
That is good. I only think Shamrock should fight in UFC again if it is against someone of his age, caliber and legendary status, like Dan Severn, Bas Rutten, or Don Frye. If he cannot get a fight with one of them he should fight a few times in superfight matches for the IFL where he is a coach. He could fight Maurice Smith or Marco Ruas, that would be good.
Also he could fight Tank Abbott, they were scheduled to fight at UFC 48 but Tank pulled out for some reason
To all of you talking shit about Ken, I only have one word for you… “IGNORANCE!!” Who started UFC? That’s right!
Ken Shamrock was no good back in the early 90’s and he is even worse now! How a man who never won anything is in the hall of fame is a mystery to me. He is only called a “Legend” becase he was in the early UFCs. Using that pathetic logic the guy with one boxing glove on that was in an early UFC should be a legend as well!!
KEN SHAMROCK IS THE BEST THE SPORT WILL EVER SEE AND WHAT EVER HE DOES FROM THIS POINT ON WILL NOT CHANGE WHAT HE DID IN HIS PRIME.
i think the reason why many people discredit ken because of their rival against tito,if ken didnt fight tito the 2nd time,i think he will be still respect by alots of people like he used to be in his prime,.. but we cant blame ken by fighting tito again because tito really showed in the public how he disrespect ken & always talk trash with ken wherever he is,so the people saw how tito disrespect ken, then the people felt the same way too, (”sigh”)
but the good thing,he can’t trash randy couture the way he trashed ken, randy is very respectful guy & he’s the only man that tito went on the opponents corner to tap a glove of his opponent instead of doing that routine like he was pointing his finger on his opponent & throw a bomb on the ground.
