Shammy's Back!

I had a couple of bad fights and some in the UFC thought that was that. I never made a comment I was retiring. I’m waiting to see when my next fight will be. My agent Rod Donohue is negotiating with (UFC president) Dana White. I’m ready to return and I hope it’s soon…that time will come when fans don’t want to watch me any longer and my body can’t get ready to be at the top level. That hasn’t happened in either case.

-Ken Shamrock in an interview with NBCSports confirming earlier reports that he is indeed heading back to the UFC but does not name Michael Bisping as an opponent.

OMG… why ken why? We’re all sick of seeing you lose for the last 5 years and you wanna force feed up some more of your beatdowns? ugh.

Here’s a hint ken. move up to HW fight Cro Cop and pray for a high left foot in the first 5 seconds. Really nobody wants you to embarass yourself some more.

I want Joe Silva’s job…..

Stop complaining. This might be a solid fight. Especially since Bisping is a wanker. Put him up against anyone like Shogun or Liddell, he’s sleeping within the first round.

I’ve thought this for a while — what’s kind of sad is that Ken was in the best shape of his life and in his prime when he was in the WWF. He was ripped. Now he just looks like an old man.

What a waste.

He should be falling back on Pro-wrestling now instead of when he was in good condition.

People:

Now is the time to rise up against the establishment, i.e., UFC, and tell them that we will not pay for these fights. This is clearly a fight to gain more overseas credibility for Bipsing. Also, it is a fight that makes no sense. Shamrock is so far past his prime it is a joke. Does anyone know how to get the UFC’s attention to tell them we will not take it? By the way, I am sure if Franklin would have been fighting Kampan this past Saturday, the show would have been on Spike. I do not buy for a second that Spike did not want to air it.

Is that picture up there after a car wreck? His face is mangled. How do you recover from something like that, did they notify his next of kin?.. Oh.. wait.. thats just after Tito beat the shit out of him.. Bisping in the late 2nd or early 3rd by TKO STRIKES.

Bisping is no joke. If his cardio gets a little better he will have the intensity to just run over people. I am kind of nervous about elvis getting him in that rear naked though.. Thats a major hole..

First off “wanker” is a british word and it is ilegal for Canadians to use it,second I dont think it is wise to call someone who has won all 15 of his profesinal fights by KO or submision a “wanker”,and third I think Shogun is not worthy of being compared in any way with Liddell I think Liddell would beat both Bisping and Shogun but I am very confident that Bisping would beat Shogun.
Now dont get all angry now now I know how good Shogun is but I just dont think Bisping has had a chance to proove himself yet against top competition. This in no way means he cant be great and beat the best, anyone who knows anything about MMA can clearly see that Bisping has huge potential and anyone who cant see that, well,I just cant take any of their comments seriously now can I.

Granted he’s not the smartest fighter, he is still a big name and interesting to watch. I’d like to see him against mid level talent and put on a show. As far as Bisping goes, hey you never know, Sinosic almost won with a quick knee to the chin…

I seriously do not want to watch Shamrock fight. There is no logical reason why they would pit Bisping against Shamrock. I wasn’t happy with the Hamill rumor either but at least there was a storyline there. This potential match there is NOTHING to gain for the UFC or Bisping by this matchup.
I honestly don’t think Bisping is that bad, the UFC needs to start moving Bisping against more realistic opponents, right now a fight against Shamrock is DOWN the ladder not up.

Dude’s just taken too many head shots. He gets knocked out cold for all to see but jumps up and swears he wasn’t out. Then he retires but later says he never retired. Dont get me wrong I respect Ken for what he did in the past but clearly he can’t keep pace with the new age fighters.

He has lost a step and its getting to the point where he might be putting himself in a position for long term physical damage.

You can’t compare Randy to Ken they’re not even in the same league. Randy still looks fast still has his head about him in a match always thinking, Ken has really slowed down and doesn’t fight an intelligent fight at all.

Really Ken please hang em up and dont tarnish your legacy anymore!

The fact that Ken has went 2-7 in the last 7 years should be reason enough.

This fight is a joke. Only serving as a way for Bisping to beat a legend. How does Bisping get better by beating Ken?

I know that he’s lost a lot of fights, but that doesn’t mean he can’t compete. Shamrock would likely be the toughest test that Bisping has had to date. I don’t see Shamrock getting the title, but I don’t see that for Bisping any time soon either.

Many of you bafoons have laid claim to the fact that Michael Bisping is “on of the top guys in MMA”.

Like I have said countless times before, he is being protected by Joe Silva and Dana White. From a business standpoint, their golden boy, has cost them a nice deal of money in terms of promotion and marketing. Heaven forbid they throw him to the wolves against a forbidable opponent and risk a loss to someone at or near his level a la Stephen Bonnar who is a bigger dude at 6′3″.

I say if you place him against a Keith Jardine who just moved down in the standings, he would have his lunch handed to him like a 6 year old before recess.

Maybe even a Lyota Machida who has two wins against candy asses would be a very nice test since this guy has recently become a name in the discussion of decent 205lbers.

I know one thing, if you place a someone who just got out of jail against Bisping, he’d get abused. In fact the UFC has just got on of those parolee’s. I think hi name is Houston Alexnder

Randy except for the usual fighting injury and that eye thing from Vitor has been pretty lucky in his body staying healthy. Cuts you act like bisbing is a complete wuss who would lose to anyone who actually fought him. The guy is a bad*ss whether or not you think so and he hasn’t shown any real weakness in any of his fights. Sure he slipped in the Elvis fight and that may or may not have been from the uppercut, but every good fighter has slipped or been rocked. I’m not trippin though, I know you and others will talk sh*t about any new fighter until they beat a few good guys, and then you will completely change your view and say how great he is and become a bisbing nuthugger just like everyone is now doing with GSP. remember before St Pierre’s last couple of wins people were all over saying he aint sh*t. its just funny how people develope their opinions.

I thought this was about Ken shamrock lol. Yes he’s getting up there in years and i remember retirement mentioned at one time or another. But can he still compete i think yes deffinitly. Now with “The count” bisping i dunno i think he has a great skill set and the determination. Yes there building him up and their not gonna throw him to the wolves. I think it takes time to adjust to the level the top fighters fight at and if Bisping was just thrown in there it might end bad or he might rise to the ocassion and surprise some. I think if Ken fought Bisping it would be a good fight i dont think Bisping can GnP Ken like Tito has. As long as no one gets caught by a wild punch it would be a great fight. I think Ken can take more punishment then Bisping as anyone knows Ken has fought some wars and has looked like the living dead at the end of more than a couple fights. There is no real way to know unless they fight. I think Bisping has a little better standup and Ken has the better Ground Game even though Bisping does have BJJ training. I dont know if Kens body can compete with the younger guys in MMA i think the minds willing and his body is just aging lol. But as long as he wants to compete i’ll watch and never count him out. Bisping has to watch his chin after that last fight i dunno how tough of a chin he’s got. and if Ken nails him with a good hook it could be all over. If the fight ever happens my mind says Bisping but if Ken won i wouldnt be amazed cuz he’s always been a tough SOB.

The game has definetly passed poor Ken by, but the guy still wants to bang. You can’t knock him for that. I think the real issue hear is that he could possibly be fighting a future contender which makes no sense. For some fluke reason Shamrock wins, Bisping is out of the picture. I still say the Shamrock/Gracie fight was marketable for one last run. The only problem is that Gracie just blew it with the steriod deal.

I do think he is talented but its the fact that the UK Golden Boy is being handled PURELY a business investment and not a fighter.

In regards to if I have evidence as to Houston Alexander being in prison ….. How anyone would actually ask me that is freaking hysterical. Yes he beat Jardine down like he was in the prison yard. Alexander having probably the biggest arms that I’ve ever seen from a TV screen point of view since the Hulkster himself, indicates that he has been doing dips in his cell for the last 3-5 years.

Of all your matchups the only one I can see being somewhat interesting is Gracie/Parisyan and maybe Frya/Griffen. The rest are liteally young guys rolling over the legends in 2 rounds max.

I like Bisping hes a nice guy and a good unproven fighter, but all these “one of the best” and “great” comments are making me vomit. Especially whoever said he would beat shogun, that’s just stupid. And of course their protecting bisping because that is the UFC’s ticket to Europe they will build him up like there’s no tomorrow and keep feeding him people he can destroy to build the hype and make as much money as they can over there. I really hope Shamrock KHTFO right in London so the UFC realizes they shouldn’t do this shit anymore.

Elvis Sinosic (face facts you lose to elvis you deserve to get kicked out of the UFC)
Kimo (ken’s kicked this guys ass so many times I lost count)
Tank Abbot (while tank can throw bombs he’ll get tired in 2 minutes. and if ken can’t survive 2 minutes with Tank, then he should be coaching ballet)
Royce Gracie (Since Ken got the better of their last encounter, Ken might actually pull this one out. Royce like Ken is a shadow of the fighter he was and a has been vs. washout may sell some tickets)

anyone else??? maybe throw him in against Noah Thomas or Marlon Sims(rofl) and show those douchebags what MMA is all about. Maybe he can break one of their ankles for good measure.

Why is everyone talking about Bisping like he is some chump? At least give the guy a chance to prove himself against a worthy opponent before you trash him, he as looked nothing but impressive so far.

As for Shamrock, people will still pay to see him I suppose, but he is going to need a stepping stone fight to gain back any sort of popularity after his last couple of ass-whoopings.

Ken’s still a big tough lookin dude. A Bisping win moves him out of the
TUF category and fighting Hamill wouldn’t. A win for Ken sets a bigger money fight for the UFC down the road…..say Ken Shamrock, (on the come back trail), VS……..
well..who cares…it will still be a $40.00 pay per view. (Like it or not).

Bisping VS. Hamill…big whoop…under card stuff for now.
It’s a loaded division.

I said it before and I’ll say it again…when is Dana White gonna bring on the midgets. He’s already crunched the numbers. He knows they’ll fight for half
the price. Eventually he can shrink the octagon down and put in 150 more front row $eats.

I think Hamills getting gypped. He has to get away from the Tito/Dana dynamic.
Captain America should pick him up…In two years he’d be gone or cleaning out the division. Dudes strong….just needs the right handling.

I kind of wanted to see Bisping/Hamill…to bad…maybe later………..

Ken Shamrock is a beast =) as u all know MMA fights consist of 50 percent luck. so he has a 50% chance to beat bisping. I would like to see Ken fight till he is 51……

Later MEOW. Bloddy DUDU

wow I guess Fedor is the luckiest guy in the world and Elvis Sinosic is the unlickiest. Hell give ken a rabbits foot and he’ll beat tit right?

MMA is about 90% skill dude. And normally skill, dicipline, conditioning and gameplan all amount to more of a determining factor than luck.

In fact NONE of the recent strings up upsets in the UFC is what I consider luck. All the underdogs brought a better gameplan and were all better prepared than the favorites, hence you see them.

anyone of you guys who have been involved in competitive sports when you were younger or have suffered an injury should know why ken still wants to compete. you never lose that fire, your mind still thinks you can win, but your body doesn’t move like it used to. i for one think ken should keep fighting as long as he can be competitive. i think with his age maybe he should take a step back down the ladder with his opponents. he can never tarnish his legacy in my mind, he earned that when he was younger and nothing he accomplished before can be taken away. they said that crap about jordan coming back too. bunch of BS…

I distinctly remember Shamrock saying, “I’m not a fighter anymore…” anyway I like the oldschool Shamrock, but he doesn’t need to risk the injury, I’m sure there is someone he can beat in the UFC, and I would watch his fight if he fights again, but honestly the risk is not worth the reward. The interviewer makes him sound like hes a badass just because he has “ripped muscles…” yea he was jacked for the Tito fights, but we all know he still got abused in all 3 of those fights. I really do like Shamrock, but this is hazardous to his health. Guy Mezger is in WAY better condition to fight in the UFC and even he doesn’t pursue it I’m sure because he is older now and its not worth the risk of getting seriously injured.
lets maybe run down the guys Ken might have a chance of beating in LHW or HW division….

anyone else???
Here’s the guys he definitely can’t beat right now at age 43:

C. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson
1. Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell
2. Dan Henderson
3. Mauricio “Sho Gun” Rua
4. Rashad Evans
5. Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz

Plus a few more just missing the cut (if this list ran 8 or 10 deep starting next month (UFCMania?)), Keith Jardine, Jason Lambert, Renato Sobral, maybe Bisping is #9, Forrest Griffin making #10. Add in Stefan Boner when he is off probation… insert Houston Alexander high into the list after his next fight if he wins. Maybe Eric Shaefer too.

I think Shamrock can beat anyone not on this list… so he might be ranked lucky #13 in my book.

I think Bisping will put Ken down with a flurry of punches.

yeah when jordan came back to the wizards right? that tarnished his career more than it helped it, as his team didn’t support him, and eventually he was run out of washington with fans booing him off.

ANd Ken is at least 6 years removed from any competitve fighting state. his last respectable performance was Tito/Ken 1 and even then we saw that he was washed up. Ken has no business back in competitive fighting as he’s just another rollover with a name and he can hardly please the fight with a good fight. Ken’s only draw is his name, nothing else.
shamrock is back! bisping V shamrock would be a great fight!
Shamrock would beat bisping, the worlds most dangerous man would
have easily beaten ortiz at ufc 40 if it werent for a torn ACL shamrock took evrything ortiz had to throw at him and hit tito with one punch and knocked him to his knees. Tito knows this because after ken had the surgery he kept asking tito for a rematch and big-head kept refusing, bear in mind ken in 43 and tito is 31 at least shamrock had the balls to get into the octagon and fight. And didnt keep talking trash and not backing it up like that 90lb boxing P*SSY MAYWEATHER

In his entire mma career bisping has not faced a decent striker and has only been rocked once by elvis sinosic at ufc 70 Shamrock would beat him.

In fact the UFC has just got on of those parolee’s. I think hi name is Houston Alexnder
Do you have any evidence this guy was actually in jail, or are just basing it on the prison-style beating he gave Jardine?
Laff
Jardine definitely dropped the soap in that one.
Damn right Jardine got turned out in a cage. That happens in US prisons all the time.
Alexander has spent time in jail. His redord is about 5 pages long and includes assault and shoplifting, shocking I know.
