how can anyone who lives here complain about the card, who would ever have thought it would come to belfast, yeah the lightweight fight was the best of the night and the main fights were average but i wholeheartedly thought it was 55 quid well spent!

great night and great craic, looking foward to dublin
HELL! YEAH! ! !
they should have had it in dublin not belfast cause dublin is more in the centre of the country.i dont really want to travel from where i live which is the complete opposite end of the country for this shit card.
Where u at Owen, Cork? Anyhow like you I have watched UFC from the very begining thanks to the internet ;). I also watch other mma events, Pride IFL etc. Anyhow like you Owen i was so excited to hear the UFC was coming to Ireland, we (6 of my mates) were all set to go hoping of course it would be in Dublin in The Point. Then we heard Belfast which again is another 2 hour drive on top of Dublin, we were hoping to drive back to Cork after the event even with it finshing we guessed around 11pm ish, but Belfast was a put off but still once the card was right we would still make the effort, we didn't care for the price of the tickets we ould buyt the most expensive ones as it might be a while yet before UFC comes to Ireland again. Then we saw the card and we just was so disappointed and said it wasn't worth the hassle. Dana listen man, you got it wrong badly wrong. You know I have watched the UFC from the begining, the days of the gracies, bas, shamrock, back to UFC 1 and have watched Pride K1 and other smaller mma events, so please don't think that we don't know mma here or that we weren't aware of mma or UFC. We just won't be fooled that easily, in fact I would go on to say that many of us here in Europe have more understanding of mma than what some think. I don;t mean disrespect but when I hear boos at ufc events it makes me so annoyed. Many attending I believe only have heard of UFC. So Dana next time you want to come to Ireland and I hope you do several times a year make sure the card is worth paying £250 sterling plus ($493) for and I and others will make the effort to go. Just my piece.

u seem to be mistaken. dolly parton did not have the record attendance she got the record gate until ufc took in £608,000 last night! i believe the record attendance is 12,000. im sure the odyssey arena can't wait to get the ufc back to belfast considering the amount of money they made! imagine how much they'll get if they pull in a full house next time!

Dana admitted at the post fight presser that paid attendance was about 7,500 and the venue could hold 10k I think. At least they beat Dolly Parton who held the previous attendance record. I dont even wanna know what the MMA-haters would done with that one if they didnt...
I'm in Ireland and definately would have gone to this card had it been a bit better, I went over to Manchester for UFC 70 because the card was so good. I fully expect the UFC to roll out the predictable cover lines "MMA hasn't really taken off in Ireland" etc but the fact is there are more than enough people here who were willing to travel to Manchester to see UFC 70. Its nothing to do with the interest levels here.. Its to do with putting on card with no title shot, 4 "main" fights and an almost insulting attitude that this is the best they are willing to offer us.

A card like this one would struggle to sell out anywhere in the world.
I agree with you completely on this. Although the under cards ended up being better fights then the headliners. If you want people to come and see the amazingness that is the world off MMA and the leader that the UFC is. It was hardly something I wanted to spend money on the PPV for, and would mos def not have spent the money on the live tickets. I mean come on Forrest vs. Hector "Who" Cuida vs tyson "who". Do not get me wrong the undercards were great fights better than the Headliner, but most of the people in the US hardly knew who half the guys on the undercard were let alone people who are getting to see this live for the first time. You want a great turnout in a new country give them a big bil. Give them the MAnstream UFC RAndy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, recognizable names. Not names the we here in the US struggle with unless you are a hardcore MMA fan. You can not tell me the rough and tough Irish Football "CLUBS" wouldn't love to see the big names bang it out. Then once you gte them hooked, they know what the UFC is about, then you can hit them with the smaller names. This event more than likely would have struggled to sell out in the states let alone in a country with little knowledge about the UFC.

Was at the event last night! Was basically sold out just the odd empty seat. A few of £250 seats were given away for free to people standing around the fighters hotel. Good enough event, the irish crowd really loved any irish fighters. Hope its back soon with bigger names because that was the main factor in the UFC not selling all the £250 seats!
