rampage jackson ufc 75dan henderson ufc 75Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will make his first title defense against PRIDE FC middleweight and welterweight champion Dan Henderson at UFC 75 in London, England, on September 8.

Rampage confirmed the date on CBS 2 in Los Angeles, California, just yesterday.

Here’s a snip (via MMAWeekly.com):

“I have to fight September 8th in London with the champion of Japan [Henderson]. He has the belt that I was trying to go for that I never got.”

Early reports indicated that only Rampage’s title would be on the line because the fight is inside the Octagon. However, this statement — and others from UFC President Dana White — makes it seem like it will be a bout that unifies the 205-pound belts.

Henderson was a guest on Frank Trigg’s Tagg Radio just yesterday and mentioned that he would prefer to fight in Las Vegas, Nevada, in front of his family and friends. It looks like that isn’t going to happen.

UFC 75 will be the promotion’s third event of the year in Europe, following UFC 70 in Manchester, England, and UFC 72 in Belfast, Ireland. For the developing (and rumored) UFC 75 fight card click here.

Hendo is a great fighter without out a doubt..I just don’t see him beating Page at this point of his career. That fight for MMA fans is worth waiting for. They will put on a great show, just looking forward to it.

One of the biggest fights in MMA history in London
I will definitely enjoy the fight live at the O2

I think Rampage will win by decision. My heart wants knock out. Not sure if Rampage can knock him out though, Hendo has a good chin.

I see a decision to Page. But in saying that its like “will we not see a submission or knock out in 25 mins?” I dont know but I think page will when but I give much respect to hendo. He is a bad ass.

How will they ever unify the belts if you use that logic? have a half ring, half octagon setup?

Man, this really sucks for Henderson. He is so excited to finally be fighting in the US. That is more exciting to him than fighting for the UFC. He wants to fight in his home country. Temecula CA isnt that far from Vegas either. That really sucks that his fight is going to be in England so all his friends and family won’t be able to see it live. The whole point of bringing in Hendo was to have him fight for the title and introduce his extraordinary talents to the American fans. The fight should be in America. He has been one of my favorite fighters for quite some time now. Like I said many times, I really wish that he came in at the MW division. The LHW division is STACKED top to bottom. The MW division is the weakest divison in the UFC. But I read that it was Henderson’s decision to first fight at LHW. I think that he has no chance at having a long title run at 205, but at 185, I think he can become the UFC’s most dominant MW in thier history.

If he started workin on his ground game and stopped waiting around to explode when hes fighting then he would be an unstoppable force..see cro-cop wins when he unleashes a barrage of punches and kicks…the couple times I have seen him lose or get ko’d it always happens when he’s standin around waitin

So, you gonna buy this PPV? That would be a great fight. Talk about integrating Pride fighters into UFC quickly, that sure is happening.
But I agree with Can a Comp, they need to have both the belts on the line. Henderson can go in as the challenger, and I’ve heard a lot of guys say in interviews that being the challenger, from a mental point of view, is preferable to being the champ.

I think age has a lot to do with cutting weight. Look at Randy, he fights at 225, but cutting 20lbs at 40some years old would kick the shit outa him. Plus not having to worry about weight is a wonderful thing. Mirko can have a brownie and a beer the night before a weigh in and still have 30lbs left.

This is a card that is lining up to be excelent and Danas going the right way about selling the UFC to the UK.
It is rumored that Chuck will be fighting Wanderlei Silva on this card and if this is true then this event is a dream come true for me as I live just out of London in Essex.
Picture this card,

Mirko Crocop vs Andre Arlovski
Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva
Rampage Jackson vs Dan Henderson
Michael Bisping vs ? No idea who the f**k its gonna be!

I swear to god please Dana make this sh*t happen!

They are gonna have no problem selling tickets for this, in a huge city like London an event this big would get media coverage from the UK media Im sure and then UfC would realy hit the big time here!

CroCop is 32 years old. So I wouldn’t say he’s getting too old for mma. That seems to be the average age. And he’s had an excellent record as a heavyweight thus far to merit any stepping down to 205. His head just wasn’t in it his last fight.

Wow just found out that the Pride Middleweight division is the UFC’s equivalent of the welterweight divison based on weight.

Here’s a question ….. How does anyone expect Dan Henderson to beat a monster in Quinton Jackson who prob walks around at 215lbs?

Aint happening, you may as well bet on Ken Shamrock to beat Tito Ortiz in their 4th fight (hypothetically).

Henderson is the Pride welterweight and middleweight champ but based on weight classes, welterwighr may actually weight less than 170lbs that is typical of UFC fighters.

Yikes

With the problems in PrideFC, I think unification is a bad idea. Then what? Rampage has to defend in UFC and Pride? or Hendo defend in both? Pride fighters have to come to UFC or UFC to Pride? or if Rampage wins, Pride just gets shut out from the title all together? Messy…

Actually you are totally wrong. Pride’s Middleweight division is equivalent to UFC’s Light Heavy Weight Division, 205 lbs. Prides Welterweight is equal to UFC’s Middle Weight.

Dan hold Prides belts at 185lbs and 205lbs. Even though when he won the belt at 205 he weighed in at 197. He would have came in lighter, but he was forced to put on weight.

Henderson, the lil 185lb champion beat Silva unconcious.

The other thing to consider… LOTS of 185lbs fighters walk around at 200-215lbs. Rich Franklin supposedly walks around at 210, has fought at 205, and whooped a lot of ass at 185. Trust me when I say, 20lbs over 6weeks isnt hard, and 10lbs in 4 days isnt hard either.

Yeah, Hendo did have a tough time with Arona & it’s not up for debate that Rampage is MUCH stronger than Arona is. Hendo’s in for an uphill battle here. I know many will argue in favor of Hendo’s mean over-hand right but can anyone seriously say that Hendo hits harder than Liddell, Shogun or Wand? Based on that, I have to disqualify Dan’s “puncher’s chance”. When you factor in that Dan is really out of his weight class overall with the other shortcomings listed above, I just cannot see how he can win. Hendo is a fantastic fighter and all but at the very best, we can only hope for a good showing & an exciting fight because Dan has nothing in his arsenal that will not be nullified by one of Rampage’s strengths.

i know it will be by knockout but prolly not till at least the 3 or 4 round
the pride guys arent bitches like some of the UFC talent(liddell)
liddell got worse sense the day he left pride
he lost a fight then ran to ufc were he could beat up ppl that can’t strike, his game seemed to become very simple all he did was punch so all it took to beat him was a punch

“I dont know how anyone expects Dan Henderson to beat that monster… especially since Dan Henderson beat one of best fighters in the world, ifnot the best 205lb fighter in the world… Wanderlei Silva.”

UMMMM….so did tito ortiz and where is he? ohh yeah fighting rashad on undercards, one loss from backyard fights in hunington beach for spare change.

all the he beat this guy, but lost to that guy and struggled against this guy crap is getting old. so what if Hendo struggled with Arona or Rampage got tossed out of the ring by Wandy. if people underestimate Hendo they arent that smart. he is a bad mufukka with an iron chin. i think Hendo will win as a gut instinct but Rampage is another great fighter, it could really go either way which makes this such a great matchup. i just hope it lasts longer than chuck and page did.

wow finally someone with an opinion im not gonna bash haha
i agree with jake this fight can easily go either way
i think its a matter of who brings the best strategy i think it would be tough to say Hendo cant take rampage down but i mean hes rampage he has some baddass take down defence

Someones gettin knowcked out but i dont know who or when!

this fight will have no place on the ground n if so not for long

lidell will fight in la not england. henderson should drop down to middleweight it will be a good fight i think based on not only just a big guy but octagon experience that he will beat dan but not till the third round or more. their both really good fighters it will be a great matchup. if henderson wants to be champ he needs to drop the weight

LIKE U GUYS SAID,WHOEVER EXECUTES THEIR STRATEGY MORE EFFECTIVELY WILL WIN AS WELL COMES IN HEALTHY N WITH THE BETTER CARDIO. BUT I DO SEE THIS ONE STARTIN OFF SIMILAR TO THE LEDDELL FIGHT, BUT FORTUNATELY 4 US, THESE GUYS BOTH HAVE IRON JAWS. i SEE IT AS HENDO WILL USE HIS STAMINA AND OLYMPIC WRESTLING SKILLS TO TAKE RAMPAGE DOWN IN THE 3RD AND OVERWHELM THE BIGGER MAN WITH CONSTANT PRESSURE VIA GROUND AND POUND AND SUB ATTEMPTS. RAMPAGE ONLY LOOKS SO GOOD AGAINST LIDDELL BC CHUCKS NOT THAT STRONG, NOT THAT GREAT OF A WRESTLER (ASIDE FROM HIS TAKEOWN DEFENSE)AND CANT TAKE A SERIOUS PUNCH, EVIDENT IN SEVEAL FIGHTS. RAMPAGE HAS STRUGGLED AGAINST THE BEST 205LBERS AND HENDO IS ONE OF THE BEST. O AND FOR THOSE WHO THINK THE WEIGHT IS REALLY AN ISSUE FOR HENDO, RAMPAGE TENDS TO STRUGGLE AGGAINST LITTLE GUYS WEIGHIN 185. QUINTON SQUEEKED OUT ?ABLE DECISIONS AGAINST NINJA RUA AND MATT LINDLAND AND DIDNT LOOK GOOD AGAINST EASTMAN EITHER.THOUGH TALENTED, THOSE GUYS DONT WRESTLE NOR PUNCH LIKE HENDO. THIS ONE SHOULD BE GOOD….ON A SIDE NOTE,
TERRY MARTIN WILL KNOCK OUT FRANKLIN OR OKAMI.

Well everybody, we’re finally seeing these fantasy match up actually happening. One thing UFC 69-71 has shown us all is anybody can beat anybody. Liddell and Cro Cop got dropped with their own trademark knock out shots. Nobody really expected to GSP to lose to Matt Serra the way he did. It’s the year of the ironic knock out. BJ Penn chokes out Jens Pulver at TUFF5 and this is shaping up to be great summer for MMA fans.

After a 2 year run, we have new blood in the UFC 205lbs division with Rampage as the new kingpin. He’s got a very tough opponent in PRIDE 205lbs kingpin Hollywood in a clash of champions at UFC 75. The Iceman and the Axe Murderer will finally go head to head in the coming months. Props to the Zuffa ownership for putting this all togeather. Gonzaga vs Couture is for lack of better term the battle of the underdogs. Nobody expected Gonzaga to beat Cro Cop and he beat him with a head kick! Couture has made a career out of defying the odds and winning when he’s supposed to lose.

If Fedor doesn’t fight exclusively for Bodog, The Chunky Russian machine will in all likelyhood dominate a soon to be unified Zuffa heavyweight division. I look forward to all these Pride/UFC clashes coming up and “May the best man win”

I gotta go with Henderson. Page is good but henderson has all the tools to take the fight to him and i dont see him fairing so well. But yes both great fighters should be a great one.

Mirko Crocop vs Andre Arlovski
Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva
Rampage Jackson vs Dan Henderson
Michael Bisping vs ? No idea who the f**k its gonna be!

First of all Mirko would Knock out Andre
Chuck will Knock out Silva within 2 rounds.
Bisbing i think should fight a Shogun or his lil bro Ninga.

As far as Jackson vs Dan-
Henderson always has that power right punch he’s hurt Silva with it in their first fight and ko’d him the 2nd. He’s got strong Greco base and strength. I saw him fight Nuguera the 2nd time and Dan escaped about 10 submission attempts in the 1st round. So he’s tough. But is he’s prepared for Jacksons strength? i’m sure if it goes into a greco clinch jackson will pick dan up across the octagon like a lil kid. Jackson has the overal punching power but stamina and heart go to Dan. Plus, that lucky Right straight cross.

Was it just me or did Jackson and Henderson take it easy on each other? Especially when it came to the ground and pound aspect of the fight.
