I like Babalu and was bummed to see him drop out of the rankings.

And like a lot of fans, I loved watching the old diabolical Frank Mir fights where he would pull a submission out of his ass but- have really lost interest in the post-accident Mir who seems content to step into the octagon out of shape and get his ass beat.

Frank should win this, but is it just grappling or is punching involved? Either way neither has notable hands…

You hit that one dead on. It is really sad to see what has become of the once great Frank Mir. I mean this guy is what got me intrested in MMA watching him break Silvia’s arm was something totally different and something I thought was just amazing. This guy was the top of the heavy weight class and I am just hoping that some how Frank snaps out of whatever groove he has gotten himself into and becomes the Frank of old again… unfrotently I have a feeling that, that is just a hope and nothing more.

True is is definitely a different person.. Don’t forget tho that he almost died in that accident and was told he would never fight again.. Amazing to see him fighting again but nowhere near where he was..

I just hope that he doesn’t fight Sylvia. Tim wants that fight bad, sure… To avenge a loss.. Pfft.. More like to have an easy win..

Whoever photoshopped that pic with Mir and Babalu needs to use the pic of Mir when he fought Dan Christison at UFC 61.

I love BABALU, my favorite fighter!! I wish that he was taking some boxing lessons right now rather than doing more submission fighting though. I read on the int. about a month ago that Babalu had moved to the U.S. and was training with Team Quest @ taclemento or some place in California and was going to do some training with Liddell at ST.Lo. Has anyone else heard this? I know that he has 1 more fight on his current contract. He has to win the next one or he will be finished.

Mir’s afraid to get hit? I like Babalu but he should come into the fight with a helmet on. I bet by now he gets a bit gun shy with strikes. To disrespect Frank is just wrong to me. Yes he has had some bad showings but damn man. He has a burning passion to fight and after the accident has fought battles we will never know. Battles of the body and mind trying to recover from such a tragic thing. You think he’s happy to lose? Be serious man.

Definitely, not so much for his skill like I said before, but more for the hart he shows in the ring. Home many guys actually spoon with another fighter after they rear naked choke them.

I like those first four!

subtract:
Rampage needs to show me something in the UFC first. The Liddell II fight didn’t go long enough which isn’t his fault.

The crow has flown the coop.

add:
Anderson Silva. Like Nick Diaz, I’m amazed at these skinny guys who seem to possess supernatural striking ability. Yes, the Iceman is sort of in that category too.

Kenny Florian. I like watching him because he looks like a skinny nerdy kid you grew up with complete with pocket protector and black glasses with the tape BUT- he could choke your ass out in 10 seconds.

Arlovski. He’s well-rounded, super conditioned and doesn’t seem to be as flashy and arrogant as other guys with his talent.

I’m sure I’m missing some obvious ones too. Rich Franklin is a sentimental favorite and I’m actually coming back around to Matt Hughes because he hasn’t put his foot in his mouth lately.

mine are usually obvious in my posts, i have to usually break them down in weight classes, but guys i will always root for

Rich Franklin/Randy Couture
Forrest Griffin/Chuck/BJ
Joe Stevenson/Hendo/GSP
Arlovski/Fedor
Rampage/SHogun/Bisping

those are top …others would be Kang, Sherk, Fitch, Anderson Silva, Swick, Big Nog

First, it is dissapointing to hear anyon bash Frank Mir. That man has gone through tragedy and then some. I give it to the man to try to come back. The skills that he has is wonderful. Second, the Silvia v. Mir fight is just a rumor at this point. I think that it would be a great fight. If I know Mirhe has been working hard since his last fight and will be a whole hell of a lot more conditioned than Silvia ever is.
