Nice to finally seeing more coverage of MMA….it is only the beginning.
wow its good to see that espn is covering UFC like it would anyother mainstream sport. i agree… its only the begining
i liked it how dana just in a nutshell said “look at the figures” when asked about boxing
“Look at the figures” Great answer. It’s about time UFC gets it’s recognition through the major sports grapevine
Lol Dana White is probably tired of comparing MMA to boxing. There’s been a lot of that lately since De La Hoya/ Mayweather.
I wish ESPN, Sports Illustrated, TSN, etc. would stop calling the sport Ultimate Fighting and refer to it as Mixed Martial Arts or MMA instead.
It’s like reffering the sport of boxing as the IBF or WBO.
Yep, I even turned on ESPN today to try to catch the SportsCenter clips that would no doubt be airing, but I couldn’t sit through all that crappy baseball and basketball stuff. I must have missed it while falling asleep during their coverage of the other sports.
They need to have a UFC Tonight show like they have with baseball!

Give it time, give it time…the UFC will soon have their very own show…how cool will that be?
I like the term Ultimate Fighting better than Mixed Martial Arts. Mixed Martial Arts sounds like karate and taekwondo which the mainstream looks at as kind of a joke. Boxing and wrestling are two of the main fighting styles of mma and people don’t think of them as a martial art. I wrestled for six years and never once realized I was practicing a “martial art”.
Good interview by Dana… not much Ego, lots of fact, very straight.
Everyone hates on Dana, but you watch UFC and you dont see hoakie bullshit like you do with IFL (had to watch the IFL show sat night… god they need a new production company.) Dana and his boys have their heads screwed on straight.
Do yall like how Dana handled himself. I like how he handled the Boxing question. I think that UFC needs to get Rampage on ESPN doing those interviews instead of Dana. I think that when the media gets a chance to talk to Rampage they will all see that he is an engaving character
Damn my bad I meant “ENGAGING” character
The point to this video is that..CHUCK GOT HIS ASS KICKED JUST LIKE I SAID HE WOULD…
Was it just me or was there a hint of somberness about Dana when he was discussing Chucks loss?

that would be cool, at least like a once a week 30 minute show, i know espn could find a slot for that, i’ve seen the same damn poker tournaments on for the last 6 months…

Weird. I kind of agree with both of you in the sense that I don’t like either…it should’nt be strictly UFC and mixed martial arts does sound lame…

MMA sounds l;ike a proper sport rather than UFC, that sounds like pro wrestling in a way.
Call it UFC or MMA, it does not matter as long as we see some ass whooping, in the octagon.
They are also covering MMA on ESPN.COM If you go to the sight clike “other” on the lower toolbar and it brings up a list and MMA is on it. Glad to see they are getting with the program. This sport is about to EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s mostly just content from Sherdog on ESPN.com
That was the first time I can remember Dana not dropping a f-bomb while speaking. Good for you Dana. You sounded professional.
Someone has to shut down the post fight comments from some of these idiots. The sport will never go mainstream with all the cussing and stupidity shown in the interviews.

The sport is mainstream idiot

White takes shots at the boxing organization managements- not the fighters or sport itself. And last year he was initiating some of the comments about boxing but now he only has to respond to them. Shows that the war is already over in my book and the UFC won.

Boxing and wrestling are two, but Brazilian jiu jitsu and Muay Thai kickboxing are the other two, and they definitely are martial arts.

Also UFC is a liscenced brand name and you can’t name a sport after a copyrighted product. It’s just silly. There are other leagues that fighters have to go through just to make it to the UFC. You don’t name sports after thier most prominent leagues.
Besides boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, and Brazilian jiu jitsu are all equally necessary components of MMA so it is definitely a mixture of martial arts.
