There’s no turning back now.
The weigh-ins for UFC 71 are in the books and each fighter was able to make their respective weights.
Despite the powerhouse lineup the event took place with relatively little fanfare.
I know the UFC’s image is being scrutinized by haters across the world of sports, but a tiny part of me still hoped to see Rampage and Liddell have a little tussle ala Sanchez/Koscheck.ÂÂ
Here’s how the fighters tipped the scales:
Main card:ÂÂ
LHW: Quinton Jackson (205) vs. Chuck Liddell (205)
LHW: Houston Alexander (202) vs. Keith Jardine (205)
MW: Kalib Starnes (186) vs. Chris Leben (185)
MW: Terry Martin (186) vs. Ivan Salaverry (184)
WW: Josh Burkman (171) vs. Karo Parisyan (170)
Undercard:
LHW: James Irvin (204) vs. Thiago Silva (202)
LHW: Alan Belcher (205) vs. Sean Salmon (205)
LHW: Wilson Gouveia (204) vs. Carmelo Marrero (205)
LW: Jeremy Stephens (156) vs. Din Thomas (155)

This sucks blue ball! The storm caused my satalitte to have no signal so I can’t watch the weigh-ins. At least I will see the fight right. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I think Rampage is going to take chuck tomorrow. Chuck looked a little uneasy and Rampage took it all in his stride. Bring it on !!
Rampage looks ripped…tomm’s gonna be a great fight!
is the Salaverry/Martin fight on the main card because they didnt show their weigh in
where can i watch it?
ufc.com does not seem to be able to play it

Yeah I think Chuck is not very quick on his feet when it comes to clever little comebacks when Rampage is being all funny with his jokes, I think he just dosnt really know what to say its not really his thing, mostly business. But I think they’ll both be at 100% tomorrow. Will be very VERY interesting.
“I’ll fight in a phonebooth if they pay me enough” - Rampage at the pre press conference talking cage Vs. ring.
I can’t lie, Chuck did not look to be in the best shape. Hope he goes and does his thing and puts Rampage to sleep fast.
Chuck never really looks to be “in shape”, but he always manages

True, but he looke even a little softer this time around. Maybe it is just the Rampage colored glasses that I have on, but he did look soft.
do we got any picutres yet of the weigh in??
Is the Sean Salmon fight gonna be Televised? How about the Din Thomas?

So there are those five fights on thre main card, but there usually are more than that, or at least six or seven, which of the under card are they showing, the two I don’t really care about?
There are two fights on the undercard I care A WHOLE LOT more about, the Thomas/Stevens bout and Silva/Irvin. I could care less about Jardine/Houston ( will be better than first expected ) and Leben/Starnes.
Houston has some serious standup skills. I’ve learned that in the last day. If Jardine blinks, this could be another upset. This guy does have KO power in both hands, according to an Extreme Challenge guy I talked to. I believed him, so could be interesting… but not enough to be on a main card.

I dunno man, I really wanted to see Sean Salmon. I was really impressed with how he did against Rashad, he has some potential once he gets real comfortable and more expirienced. That’s the one i’m bummed to miss. Chris Leben is usually pretty exciting, Jardine I wanna see as he might be on a potenial start to the way up the heavyweight latter. And yeah Din Thomas, I wanted to see that fight. I could really care less about James Irvin.
Did Houston Alexander look frigging huge at the weighins or what? When they said 204, I figured the scale was broken or he knows some Chris Angel trick of levitation. If I still wagered, I’d drop $50 on him. The UFC gave him a 3 fight contract. They had to see something….
I am a little dissapointed Irvin made the undercard, he really is something to watch. He has great potential.
My guy Houston put it down for da “O”. I glad alot of people didnt think he was gonna win, we knew what was up at home. Nebraska is in da buildin! His name is strongarm not assassin dont forget it!
