“I’m a man. If me and Tito were in line to make a lot of money, I wouldn’t be a friend if I turned down the fight …”

– UFC light heavyweight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson tells the Bostime Herald that if he beats current 205-pound champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 71 next Saturday that he would fight good friend and training partner Tito Ortiz for the right money.

Thats funny cause I doubt that Tito would feel the same if it were Tito as champ and Rampage as challenger.

Good, cause this is a business. Plus, I would like to see how two guys who train together all the time match up against each other. There def wouldnt be any surprising the other guy and there would be the confidence on each side of having seen what the other guy’s got. If this happens, I predict an incredible fight will take place.

I think a fighter should be able to choose if he wants to fight his teammate or not. With that said, I also like to see when a fighter does not pass an opportunity up. I think this would be a great fight, and that it would be a good post Lidell vs rampage fight. Of course Tito would have to work his way up, but it would be a good fight.

Rampage had long maintained that he stayed away from the UFC when his good friend Ortiz was champion. When informed by a radio station during a conference call last week that Ortiz said that if Rampage beats Liddell he would like to fight him, Rampage at first asked for the station to produce the tape. thats from the boston herald, i know you said if tito were champ and rampage were challenger, but still at least we know tito would be down to fight too

I’m not suprised! This is how it should be. This is a business and it’s should have to happen if you got guys in line for a title. You would be stupid not to take advantage of opportunity. That’s all Rampage is saying

Rampage is the kinda guy I like in this sport. he’s a nsatural fighter who just wants action, much like Chucky, Randy, and most of the other top talents.

This isn’t a business wher friends stay friends for life. A Tito/Rampage fight is every bit as big a fight as a Chucky/Rampage or Chucky/Tito. I don’t think any of them were shy about the fact they stand to make millions on those fights, and for good reason. In the end, the spirit of competition demands the fight, and the paycheck also makes it very attractive.

Tito may consider Rampage a friend today, but if they both win their respective fights, Tito can find himself in contention for the title, and I can guarantee Tito begging for a shot at the title.

If you read the quote in the Boston paper, in a radio station interview Tito apparently said he would fight Rampage if he beat Liddell. Rampage asked to hear the tape- I assume he then heard the quote- so he is replying that he would fight Tito for the right money. This headline makes it sound like Rampage initiated this topic but Tito did.

Yeah, the lead-in for this article is a bit misleading.

Thanks man I didn’t know that Tito proposed the match up first. Thats good that Tito can distinguish friendship from Business. Floyd Mayweather Jr and Zab Judah were friends before they signed to fight each other and Even though they had the incident during the fight they have since become kinda friends again. Mike Tyson talked alot of trash to build up his fight with Lennox and after the fight he admitted it was all to hype up PPV buys and that he and Lennox in fact had been friends for many years. Tito and Rampage would be able to talk so much trash about each other and build up the fight I think it would hype up the fight to crazy proportions. I like Chuck as a fighter but he is about as interesting as a log of cheese.

Why wouldnt they still be friends after the fight ? They will both bank in a huge check and get a lot of PR time. It would work out for both of them. Personally I think if tito wins they stay friends. If rampage wins the friendship is over.

It is a sport and do it for a job. They are not fighting cuz they hate and wanna kill each other. Be friends, agree to fight. Go in there, do what you gotta do, when your done, shakes hands and go be friends. I would fight any of my friends for sport if they were down and we were getting paid. It dosnt jeopordize the friendship in anyway.

REVENGE MUST NOT MEAN MUCH WHEN CHUCK GOES PARTYING ALL WEEK BEFORE ONE OF HIS BIGGEST FIGHTS. RAMPAGE VS HENDERSON, TITO VS RASHAD….WINNER VS WINNER….THE WINNER VS CHUCK,,, MAKE HIM WAIT A LITTLE FOR SCREWING AROUND AND NOT TAKING THIS FIGHT SERIOUSLY ENOUGH
