We’ve beaten this to death here. A standing punch when a fighter turns his head away like a girl is not a foul.
It’s easy to beat the former champ when you kick him in the nuts twice 30 seconds apart. Oh, do you forget the GSP vs Hughes match? I hope that ends the “punch to the back of the head” conspiracy. Things happen in MMA that are in no way intended by the fighter. That’s why GSP didnt lose a point for his foot riding up Hughes leg, and why Serra wasnt penalized for an occipital strike.

I don’t think I have ever seen a human being as ripped as GSP. Man, that guy is in outstanding shape and he eats anything he wants except for fast food. (Thanks Rachelle for doing the research for us and using your show to curse GSP and cause him to lose lol) All in all this guy is an amazing athlete and we all know it. However he didnt look like he was in good shape for the Serra fight, he didn’t look as ripped. I hope he comes back looking like a beast that we all know and love.

Now this is a Sherdog troll post if I’ve ever read one here at Mania. Matt Hughes was asked if the kicks to his nuts affected the outcome and he said no. He didnt say they didnt affect him at all. He NEVER said he was playing them up.
Watch it again and tell me they didnt affect him. That second kick was straight to the nads.

Matt Hughes has issues with illegal shit all the time, Frank Trigg, BJ Penn,GSP, honestly who gives a shit, arguing about foul her and foul there is redundant…get into a street fight and see if a ref with come to your rescue if you get poked in the eye kick in the face on the ground or hit in the package….GSP lost, shit happens, Matt Hughes lost, shit happens, Matt Serra shouldn’t be riding his wave of confidence, if he copied a Randy Couture handling of Tim Silvia, then i would have total respect, but he didn’t. So I really don’t feel bad about shit

Then why is it illegal to hit below the belt at all if these cups stop all effect from a kick to the nuts? come on man think before you embarass yourself. Your basically telling us you have a “tiny target” cause it still hurts any guy with normal sized genitals to get kicked in the nuts with a cup on. I suppose you probably “juice” that would explain the shrinkage you’ve experienced…

But I will comment on this. You either have no nuts or a cup made of titanium. I train 3-4 days a week, with a jock and cup on, and at least once a week, I get nailed in the nads. Some worse that others, but even the grazes suck ass. Maybe because I’m rolling and your boxing there’s a difference, who knows.

I agree, the thread is getting a little off track. People need to realize that anything can happen in mma, anyone can get caught at any time. Even though Serra is knowhere near GSP’s level, he can still catch anyone with a punch, even Georges.

People are hating on GSP after one fight, that imo was a total fluke. If those two were to fight next week, I would put all the marbels on GSP. You can’t be hating on a guy who has totally dismantelled the WW division. DESTROYING guys like Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk, Karo, Mayhem, Hughes. Watch some of these fight and see just how good GSP is. He has not had an easy opponent since his debut with Karo, he’s faught and beat the best! Something we’ve yet to see KOS do. The guy hasn’t faught a single big name with the exception of Diego (which was horrible). GSP for President!!!!

Oh yeah, the dude is ripped, bitches love him. Total poster boy for UFC and MMa…..we UFC fans should be honourd to have a guy like GSP representing the UFC. He’s totally marketable, and he’s a Canadian who seems to have won the hears to tons of Americans. Can’t wait to see him back!!

Yes gsp is in amazing shape and probably one of the fittest mma fighters. I don’t know whats going on here with all the attacks but I feel I have to throw in my 2 cents. Hughes was asked in the press conference if the kicks affected him, and he responded that they hit a nerve in his leg and never hit his balls and he thought georges was more affected because maybe he felt he couldn’t use them anymore. And everyone knows serra won a lucky punch in the exchange, but what he did after he hurt georges was a perfectly executed game plan. Could serra repeat that performance, I highly doubt it, even if they fought 10 times, which makes me think it was a fluke. Did he win fair and square, yes of course he did, but he did get lucky. Gsp totally won fair and square too, and I don’t think the kicks to the balls had anything to do with it. The only thing serra proved to me in beating gsp was even the best can lose to an average fighter, it doesn’t matter how many skills you have if you get stunned….your screwed.

As far as being among 25 most fit, GSP deserves it. He’s still a young fighter who’s gonna be among the top fighters for a long time to come. There’s always gonna be some controversy in fights and fighters are legendary for sometimes letting their mouths run while not connected to the brain. GSP is classy but even he can screw up. Matt Sera won and he can enjoy the title while he has it. I have the feeling that the title is going to be changing hands a lot.
