Cocaine is not, generally speaking, a performance enhancing drug. I think the UFC, the Nevada Athletic Commission and every other sporting body should take a good look at what’s occurring in America and refrain from penalizing athletes for recreational drug use.

The media made a big furor over Martina Hingis and her positive test for cocaine in spite of the fact that she’s not even a major contender anymore. Athletes should not be judged based on their morality save for that which applies to their performance in the ring/court/cage/arena/field/etc.

Professional athletes, as a bunch, are despicable in terms of morality. 75% of them would be suspended if we were to judge them based on their ethics. We should give kudos to guys like Melvin, who are upstanding young men who may do a line from time to time. If he were a drunk he wouldn’t face any suspension at all simply because alcohol is a legal drug.

I still believe that Melvin would beat Stevenson in a rematch. He missed a few bombs by inches and it was him missing not like Joe dodged

I went to an IFL event this past weekend. The team fights were decent when they were not trying to promote sponsors every 5 minutes. The worst thing in the world though was the super fight they hyped up for days. It was Marco Ruas vs Maurice Smith. It was the biggest joke around. They just sparred in the ring. I guarantee they talked before the match and said lets take it easy for this fight. It was absolutely ridicuous. Everyone was booing screaming give me my money back. Half of the fans in attendance got up and left – Myself and my group of friends were part of them. It was one of the saddest displays of a fight ever!!! I could not believe the IFL would do this to the fans – get them excited with all these great team fights then absolutely dilute the sport and name by doing something as this did with the super fight. If anyone disagrees I would be more than happy to see your take on what happen last night in Chicago at the Sear Centre because what I saw and many other fans of MMA saw was a joke of a league and sport demonstrated by that “super fight”.
