I think only Frank Mir knows if he can start climbing back up. If he was working 100% to be where he was when he was champion, he has to put in 200% now to get back in the HW mix. It would be a great story if he did climb the ranks. He would need his agility back, and some serious cardio work. Hard to do after an injury and being out for such a long time. I'm optimisitic because he had to have drive and dedication to climb to the top in the first place. He's a competitor that got seriously thrown off with his bike accident, then subsequent lack of work, then another accident.
the maine-iac is just looking for a piss easy fight because he knows that mir is strugeling after his bike accident and I think he is just being a pussy and taking a fight he should easily win,but I hope and have a feeling that Franky boy might just take this one and suprise everyone. He is gonna have more drive than ever for this fight and I thinks Timothy is gonna take him lightly.
My prediction is that Mir grabs hold of the same arm and cheered on by the crowd thirsty for blood he proceeds to rip it off and then to the delight of the crowd devours Tims sevoured arm in a blood crazed frenzy and then the Maine-iac dies on the way to hospital from massive blood loss.
at least thats what I am hopeing for
I think you're right Mcanena, I see Mir wining this one too. It takes a long time to be 100% after an injury like that and Mir looked to be in the best shape ever, with much improved standup in his last fight. Vera just made him look bad ,thats all. Mir has to know if he loses ,he's DONE.
Brandon Vera, Jake O'Brien, Eddie Sanchez, Josh Schockman ... UFC is starting to do the same mistake they did back then over again: build artificial contenders in the heavyweight division, which will ultimately make the division look weaker as soon as we start to see those guys being declared real contenders. It's ridiculous and I hope most fans can see thru it.
Ok ,Eddie Sanchez is a can but ,to put Vera in the same catagory is a joke. If you think Vera is an artificial contender then you're in for a rude awakening. Come on Dana, Vera vs CC at UFC 74 so we can lay this myth to rest that "Vera is overrated".

Personally i would like to see Mir win this fight. But i dont see him being in the kinda of shape he was before the accident. And in my opinion (and i like Frank alot) i dont think his cardio was really ever what it could be but certainly worse recently. Great talented fighter its a shame what happened to him. hope he comes back stronger than his recent fights but thats probably being fairly optimistic. I just dont want to see him totally gassed by the end of the first round (if it goes that far) and i hope its a good fight.

Chris Valentine,

I did say opinions are like aholes-everybody has one. I never said there was anything wrong with stating one, thus your accusation of me being hypocritical makes no sense. All I asked for was for everyone to stop all this drama, I'm a man here to talk about fighters, not someone as one reader hilariously stated interested in a "Full House" episode. Funny how you felt you were the one being criticized...

Thanks for the comments guys.

On the Rich Franklin/Miletich issue, I have tried to get confirmation from a reliable source on this. Best I can get is what Anomaly said. He is officially a member of Team Extreme, essentially his own team. He trades training with other camps. He also has done a lot of fight prep for other camps looking for a BIG 185er. I hope RF doesnt become a full time MFS guy, I cant stand that camp for the most part.

The Closer,
Again I must re comment on the same issue. I do not feel length of time is the factor in which makes a comment more or less valid. Time only is deserving of respect. I have a gentleman I dislike as a college professor, he is a real dick and know it all, but in the end he has been doing what he has been doing for many of years, and with great success, thus I show respect for his opinion, right or wrong. As with the professor, I respect people like MTUFC, and YT, due to the time they have invested in gaining knowledge of mma, but I also do not always agree with them.

Opinions are what make people individuals, and if your "opinion" is that "opinions are like aholes," then you yourself are being hypocritical by use of the act of voicing an opinion.

Also I try to be very Generously forgiving (magnanimous) in the ignorance of "some" of the new fans and there Insults.

God I love this site ("non-sarcastic" for clarity)
I just watched Tim Sylvia's interview on NBC Sports and when they showed some Team Militich fighters, they showed Rick Franklin? Is this a network that's new to MMA blowing one, or has RF switched teams? Anyone know?
Hey, MTUFC, I am not sure where I heard it, but for some reason I remember hearing that Rich jumps around all the time, it's kinda his pholosophy, to never just "limit" yourself to one place with the same group. Trying to expand his source for knowledge and training, like to get more out of it. He frequents Militech alot, but from what I hear he trains at a number of places. Not 100% sure.
