That sums it up pretty nicely. Both Mirko and Big Nog are out of his league, but Couture has cage experience and lots of heart. When people here say that Mirko is gonna win they simply state the obvious: Mirko is younger, he is one of the best kickboxers to walk this earth (with Ernesto Hoost and Peter Aerts), he is in his prime and considered for a long time the #2 or #3 in MMA worldwide. Couture fans shouldn’t be offended by facts. Cheer for Randy, I’ll cheer for Mirko and in august we’ll see who’s holding the belt.

Now lets check out Cro Cop: Big Nog, Fedor and Aleksander Emelianenko, Mark Hunt and Josh Barnett. Thing is, while Randy lost by TKO to Barnett, Cro Cop won 3 times against him. I’m not a fan of “X beat Y and Y beat Z, so X would be Z” logic, but if you start saying things like “Mirko hasn’t faced anyone like Couture” I think this clearly shows how wrong you are.

That is the Liddell-Pele fight from a Vale Tudo tourney years ago. This is a HUGE upset win for Liddell. No one at the time including me thought Liddell, the Kempo kickboxer, had a chance to last 5 mins with Pele, let alone win. I didnt see this live, but back then you could get on a mailing list and the IVC would mail you the VCR tape of the fights. I was in Kosovo at the time and had no idea who won. We sat around waiting to see the brutal KO, and when the fight kept going and going, I just couldnt freaking believe it. It’s 30 mins, so let it download and you can skip around if you dont have the time.
Sadly, this was the beginning of the end for the greatest MMA fighter of all time. He went on to win some more, but was never the same. He is still fighting, believe it or not, but now he’s a sideshow, like Severn.

I think Cro cop is a little over rated, all this cro cop destroying Gonzaga reminds me of the serra/gsp fight were almost no one is giving Gonzaga much of a chance. I hope cro cop isn’t under estimating Gonzaga’s striking ability because it could be yet another upset. Personally I think chuck hits harder with his fists than cro cop but I think cro cop has the hardest leg kicks in mma. I think liddel would do better against cro cop and fedor than most seem to think.

Couture is a class act. I enjoyed this piece Mania. Randy may not be able to hang with Cro Cop and Big Nog, but Captain America will always give us a good show.

I agree that Liddell would give both these guys a run. Fedor might have is way with him as soon as we wrestles him to the ground, but you could never rule out Liddell’s hands. You will eat some major blows on the way in to the clinch. Look at the way Fedor got caught with Linland. Liddell’s punch is a major threat. Although I feel Rampage has a great chance because he can take a hit on the way in.

Lets see cro cop get by Gonzaga first then we’ll chat about couture v.s cro cop.But to make things easy,just say cro cop will destroy couture.We don’t want to make MTU upset again.

First, nothing at all to be ashamed of. How did you get that? You high again? This was a huge upset and he should be proudest of this fight.
Second, calling this Liddells second fight shows how little you really know about MMA fighters. By this time in Liddells career had probably fought 50-75 times ( a guess, but a good one I think ). Sherdog, where you got your info, only scores fights in what they consider sanctioned events. Liddell fought Kempo, underground, pit, cage and just about anywhere else he could lay a wager on himself ( considered a good thing, btw ). If you watched the Pele fight I posted, you will see how good Liddells ground game was and he clearly shows serious talent in Thai fighting ( not Muay Thai, whole other world ).

I’ve seen many CC fights, many Liddell fights, and many Couture fights. CC is overrated, BIGTIME. His first UFC fight was nothing special. In my opinion, he didn’t look to carry that much power in his hands. And while his Pride fights were good, he never really impressed that me much (other than how loud his kicks were). There are several UFC fighters who will give him a serious run – Arlovski, Sylvia, Couture, Vera, Nog (now that he’s here), mabye even O’brien. I could see Chuck putting him to sleep, early.
Then again MTU, you’re the expert.

Oh yeah, if CC wins at Nations Collide, my money will be on Couture this summer.

Couture himself said he’d be the underdog. Being the underdog is not something you decide with a coin toss. You take a look at the record, the most recent fights and make an educated guess how the fight will turn out.

Randy: comes back from retirement after losing a few times too often to Liddell. Returns to defeat overrated UFC Heavyweight champion Sylvia – no other fights in the recent past.

Mirko: won the open weight grand prix (OWGP) end of last year, which is considered a higher title than any weightclass title among PrideFC fighters. In the process he kicked the lights out for Wanderlei and made Josh Barnett tap, a better wrestler than Randy is (watch Couture-Barnett). Eddie Sanchez was a walkthrough and Gonzaga won’t make it to decision either.

I hope you guys don’t bet on fights.

CC will probably destroy Gonzaga sure but the beauty of mma is you never know.All it takes is that one mistake and it’s over.

Wow! One of the reasons I am rethinking posting on the sight, too much calling people out.

As for the fight, I will never bet on a Cotour bout, and thats because whenever he is underdog he seems to pull out the victory. I really think Mirko will dominate, especially in the later rounds. Randy always gassed in his heavy weight bouts towards the end of the fight (but he also is in better condition). I think Crop cop has what it takes. As far as questioning his wrestling, I really think he is a very top notch wrestler (Randy). End the end Randy will probably lose, but I hope not. I like MTUFC’s comments, in that he backs them up with great highlights that I have not seen in years, but I don’t agree with calling people out. Its just opinions guys, leave it at that.

Also I like both these guys, and I think both are amazing athletes. Oh and I agree that Tim Silvia was way overrated.

ANYONE CAN BEAT ANYONE! However, that is not the core of the debate. When comparing CC to Randy, to some degree you must evaluate WHO they have fought within WHAT time-frame & HOW they won their fights. You must also do the same with their losses. A loss doesnt count out any fighter. If anything, the nature of the loss is the clear indicator. Was the fighter who lost outmatched, outskilled, got caught with a lucky punch, injured during the fight, etc? You must consider these things in order to make an educated assesment. No shame in having a favorite fighter or proclaiming that they win simply because you like them so much. Definately keep your personal opinion but dont be fool enough to ignore the facts. Dont be scared to learn something new. When you look at WHO CC has beaten in the past 3 years versus who Randy has beaten in that same time span its not a matter of opinion as there are solid facts being considered in that arguement. CC has faced a literal who’s who in the MMA world & beaten most clearly. Randy, as great a guy as he is, has not garneredd the same MMA accomplishments as CC. Thats no secret. I understand that there are plenty new MMA fans that are only familiar with the current UFC roster & recent fights but they are only scratching the surface of this thing called MMA. Ever heard the saying, “to know where you are going you must know where you came from”?. Thats the best way to sum up what is being said about WHY CC will best Gonzaga & then Randy.

Oh, I cant ignore the crazy talk about Chuck hitting harder than CC. CC is not only known for his powerful kicks but also for breaking the Orbital Bone (the bone surrounding your eye) of his opponents. When he beat Barnett at last years Pride GP, Barnett tapped out because of this. Also see CC vs Bob Sapp where CC did the same.

FYI, I respect Chuck as a fighter but the man has not faced any legitimate strikers in 4 years & definately not any World Class strikers such as CC. No man is unbeatable & I think it’ll be a fantastic fight but outside of the luck factor, Chuck doesnt stand a chance against CC.

I beg to differ and wouldn’t be suprised if cro cop got knocked out in the first with liddel. Odds mean nothing, past fights mean nothing, serra and randy proved these things, you can analysis fights all you want, no one can really pick a winner with certainty. On paper a fight with randy and cro cop looks bad for randy but so did sylvia and serra(in the extreme). Like I said before I’m never counting randy out again, the man is smart and seems to have a great strategy coming into fights, I’m going with randy on this one.

Well, what you are saying is true in that you never know EXACTLY what will happen until the fight itself. To dismiss odds & past fights? I’m not so sure that’s wise. I mean, would you dismiss the records & accomplishments of the current Super Bowl champs in favor of a lesser team? I’m not saying to give up on your boy but think about it.

For the record, I picked Randy over Sylvia right from jump (believe it or not I’m a Couture fan as well). It was a perfect match-up for Randy. Randy’s strengths are everything that Sylvia is weak in.

Let’s not forget that the only comparable striker Randy has faced was Chuck while CC has faced a few grapplers the likes of Randy & beaten most.

I’m not saying change your pick or that your boy Randy can’t win. I’m just sayin it’s a bad fight for him. No matter who wins, I win. Why? Because I like both fighters equally but each for different reasons.

I bet plenty..I wouldn’t bet on Couture over CC…I would have over Tim, but I didn’t. Thats simple truth. I do believe CC will destroy Gonzaga. The ufc won’t take a chance on him actually losing until the get a pay per view worthy of the dollars they paid him. Can’t chance anything on that, thats bussiness.

Well they should have given CC another can like Sanchez then because GG destroyed him .CC is one dimentional(kick boxer) and the big dogs (Randy, Vera ,Chuck and GG)in the UFC are well rounded fighers. CC will never be champ in the UFC.

Even the ufc didn’t plan on GG winning. You know Randy wanted CC and that would have been one of the biggest PPV of all time. If anything this should prove that the ufc is not fixing fights. GG surprised everyone and knocked out CC but who is he? Did they really mean to give him the title shot? They planned on Couture vs CC, just didn’t work out that way.

Cro Cop has a terrible china chin and can be beaten by anyone who gets to it. If you want a graphic sample of how bad his chin is besides the times you have seen him literally unconscious then check out his fight with Michael McDonald. Mcdonald throws a couple very light punches inside, the pitter patter types fighters throw when awaiting a clinch to be broken up and Cro Cop was literally out on his feet. If you watch it I guarantee you will be amazed or looking for excuses for how pathetic his chin is. No decent professional lightweight boxer would have been hurt by these harmless clinch punches yet Cro Cop was knocked out just moments later as a result. Anyone hitting Cro Cop in the head can take him out, anyone!
