It's another combat sport. I bet you wouldn't last 2 minutes with any m.m.a. fighter (even the light weights). Try a real sport. Boxing is getting old and m.m.a. is blowing up. Change with the times. I'm sorry.

a boxing match is boring plain and simple, frikin 100 oz pillows.
any event where you need 15 rounds to decide a winner, is a sport where you DONT work too hard.
mma is way more exciting

Ok Look...First of All. There's No Way Boxing Could Stand up To MMA, I'm Not Talking UFC, I'm Talking UFC In General, Boxing Is Constant Punches to the Head and Body for 12 Rounds. UFC Is Constant Kicks, Elbows, Punches, And Knees To The Head, Body And Legs. Plus Slams and Submissions. Look I'm Not Here To Rant About Boxing Its Just That When You Have A Boxer Like Mayweather Trying To Step Up To A Legend To MMA, Chuck Liddell. Someone Should Tell Him He Needs To Stay On His Level. Not Only Does Chuck Liddell Know His Way around the Stand Up Game...He Is Also Good In Ground and Pound and Submission. I Wouldn't Mind Seeing Them Square Off...But I Would Put My Money On Chuck Liddell...No Doubt. Mayweather Is Just Trying To Get Popular In MMA World. Next You Will See Him Challenging The Patriots To A Football Game Or Jeff Gordon To A Race. Put The Facts on the Table You See Two People Fighting on the Street or at School, its Not Going to Be Jabs and Uppercuts It's Going to Be Punches, Kicks, Knees, and Slams. I have noticed the Rise in MMA's Popularity in the Past Year and I Do Believe in another Year MMA Will Be at the Very Top of the Ladder!

[...] Recently Floyd Mayweather (like many detractors) dismissed the skill involved with cage fighting by comparing it to nothing more than a bar fight with a referee and a time limit. [...]

apples and oranges, take your pick.
i watch both. most mma fighters are in better shape than boxers.
you have to utilise your whole body to win.
mayweather would lose in a fight with a smart mma fighter, notice i said smart.
i consider myself a good mma practitioner, and if I was fighting him, i'd avoid boxing and take him down, give him schoolin in leglocks or kimoras. but to stand there and trade is stupid, cuz thats all he does. as my taekwondo teacher once told me-- the best way to avoid getting smacked is to not be there.

First of all, I'm not taking any sides in this dispute. For the morons who really didn't get the whole story and bad mouth on Mayweather misunderstood what he said. Mayweather is just saying that MMA fighters can't stand toe to toe with an average boxer. This could be true, but I've seen boxers fight in MMA organizations and lost, then again I've never seen a MMA fighter enter into the boxing world and win. These are two completely different sports and it's hard to compare. The best outcome is to have two competing athletes compete in both rules and the best performer wins. I seriously doubt that MMA fighters have the stamina to go 15 rounds and the boxers certainly can't wrestle. To those inmature kids, if there is a childish remark that needs to be added on this page then feel free to do so cause kids love to talk and it never hurts anyone.

A new episode of "desperate boxers trying to get a piece of the growing MMA cake":

Pro Boxer James "Lights Out" Toney commented on Boxing Confidential Radio and said:

"UFC is not ready for someone like me. I am too violent."

"If they want to make it boxer vs. UFC, if Dana White has the balls, like he does on TV, he can call Dan Goossen and we can make it happen. I will fight Randy Couture or Chuck Lindell."
