koscheck ufc 69 hate diego sanchez
The hatred between UFC welterweights Josh Koscheck and Diego Sanchez runs much deeper than just some good ‘ole smack talk.

In a juicy interview with Sam Caplan at CBSSportsline.com, Koscheck offers up more provacative details about the long-running feud that began after Sanchez bested Koscheck during season one of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) via split decision.

And, one that will be settled once and for all at UFC 69 on April 7.

It’s a bizarre tale that includes not only Sanchez, but also his brother.

Here’s a snip from Kos:

“Actually in San Diego, his brother approached me and he goes ‘Do you know who I am?’ He came up and grabbed and shook my hand after the fight in San Diego for UFC Fight Night. It was actually really funny, I was with a bunch of my friends, and we were all hanging out at the bar in San Diego, a club, and his brother comes up to me (laughs), ‘Do you know who I am?’ And I go, ‘No, not really.’ And he goes ‘Well look into my eyes and tell me you don’t know who I am?’ I was just like, ‘Who’s this f—– lunatic,’ you know? And basically he goes ‘I’m Diego’s brother,’ in a sarcastic voice, kind of like a weirdo, psycho voice and I was like, ‘You’re Diego’s brother?’ He goes ‘Look into my eyes’ and I was like ‘Yeah, yeah, you don’t look like him.’ I was just kind of playing with him, you know? But he’s like hot eyeballing me and just trying to create drama in the scene … therefore, I don’t like him, I don’t like any of his family, I don’t like anything to do with him — anything. I can’t stand him.”

That’s not all — Koscheck, Sanchez and Sanchez’ brother also had an encounter poolside at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here’s more dirt:

“… I was there with some friends and I play a lot of cards, basically I’m a blackjack junkie. I was at the Palms, playing, and my uncles were there and we were all playing, hanging out, and basically he’s hot balling us and he was all drunk, so was his brother. And they tried to start a fight with me and my managers. You know, I’m not going to do anything in public, so I was the better man and just walked away and they were like ‘You p—-! You walking away? Bluh, bluh, bluh!’ And I wasn’t even drinking or anything, so it was kind of funny. But he’s going to get what’s coming to him, and I can’t wait for April 7 to get here.”

I can’t either after reading that.

However, I’m compelled to warn that there is often three sides to every story: Koscheck’s, Sanchez’ and the truth.

Fortunately, Caplan promises some feedback from Sanchez on the situation in the very near future, which we will of course pass along.

Regardless of what Sanchez has to add, it’s abundantly clear that both of these cats hate one another — this isn’t cooked up just to sell seats.

And as soon as that cage door closes one week from today, one of them will walk away 15 minutes later with the ultimate prize — a win over a bitter rival and a chance at the title.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

Diego Sanchez is a freak and so is his brother, both must have the same brain damage. I hate Diegos attitude he reminds me of the classic school bully always eye balls everyone, to me he looks like an insecure retard. He’s going to get his soon, people like him always do, its just a matter of time.

This story is kinda old news. Who really cares. Koscheck has about as much chance Sanchez as AA would against Mirko. A puncher’s chance and little more.

I’m really looking forward to the diego/koscheck fight, I think it will be by far the best of the evening. I could care less about the gsp/serra fight, these tuff shows and the winner getting a title shot is stupid, nobody sane wants to see a completely one sided fight. The bad feelings between these guys will make the fight that much better, gsp and serra like each other……not even a spark of tension there. I can’t wait for april 7 this fight is going to be ugly.

come on Kos thinks his is the man and all he does is lay on other guys. Is he a great collegiate D-I wrestler? Sure, but as a fighter he has a lot of humility to learn

Just watch TUF 1 and really pay attention to koshcheck. He’s a promising fighter but the guys a total douch bag, he’s cocky, he’s ignorant, he’s full of shit. Him and Southworth were in the douch bag boat. Diego proved himself to be the better fighter and a better person. April 7th win/lose/ draw Diego is the better man of the two.

Koscheck ran like a little bitch. His stand up was absolutely horrible, any half decent striker would have laid him out RIGHT AWAY. The whole fight was Josh throwing jabs, keeping his distance, then running the clock. Typical pussy shit, always leaving it up to the judges. We all know he will never win a title fight, if he even gets that far. Sanchez was completely off that night, but one thing he did do was constantly pushed the fight, and he was willing to take a hit to make a hit. But clearly Koscheck doesnt have the balls to do that. OHWELL. whats done is done.
All i can say is i look forward to Koscheck getting his face smashed in, so he can see what UFC is really about.

I admire all fighters, it takes courage. My favorites are Fedor and JosKos. Josh is a world class wrestler and when his boxing and submissions equal his wrestling, the MMA world will see true dominance. Good fortune.

Kos fucking sucks, I am a prior college and military wrestler who made the jump to mma a few years ago. Kos is horrible and anyone who thinks otherwise has no clue what the ufc is really about. Any former wrestler can take someone down and lay on top of them until the time runs out. Atleast in wrestling you get penalized for stalling and stood back up right away. Kos has no stand up, no ju jitsu, no defense, no striking, nothing but a double leg takedown. Diego was undefeated with wins over some good ass fighters like karo, diaz, and riggs. Kos hasn’t beaten anyone and all of a sudden gets matched against Diego after Diego already beat him once. Kos doesn’t deserve to be where hes at and I cant wait until he looses some fucking teeth from GSP in a few days. I really like what dana white has done lately with his signings of Cro Cop, Rampage, Silva, and some other great fighters from outside the ufc but what the fuck was he thinking matching diego and koscheck up again, there was no way they were on the same level. In mma, anyone can lose on any night, thats whats great about the sport, but that is why the match ups are so damn important, koscheck should have to beat some decent fucking fighters before he gets a shot at the title. Dana you fucked up on this one.

I think Diego’s game has improved since his flawless barrage of knockouts and submissions on The Ultimate Fighter. Please also remember what Diego did to Koscheck’s face in their first fight; Koscheck took a trip to the hospital. Koscheck is nothing exciting to watch, and Diego’s record is only getting better as he remains in the UFC; which by the way he won the 6 figure contract and Koscheck went home. Diego may very well come off as a bully, but he’s also not a 2nd grader anymore. It’s the UFC! Being a bully is what pays the bills. I think Diego Sanchez has the heart of a true fighter that will end up with a career like Ken Shamrock’s. Josh Koscheck will wither and fade in a few years.
