im just glad that its taking place in japan, im tired of having Pride in the US! dont get me wrong, its cool that theyre traveling around the world and trying to get Pride known world wide, but the rules in the US are not as great as the rules in Japan!
and also, since theyre having UFC fighters fighting under Pride rules, they should also have the Pride fighters fight in the UFC under UFC rules; NO EXCUSES FOR THE LOSERS!!!

In the poll on the this site regarding this event, it seems many here havent used their head.
You must fight twice in the same night on two occasions to win. Penn never has and never will have the stamina to fight that much. Sherk’s game is not meant for 2 15 min matches in the same night. He also will not last. You’ve got to look at guys that can end fights with brutal KO power quickly, like a Hansen or Gomi. Or you have to be able to submit with the skill of Royce Gracie, a la a Hermes Franca ( my vote ) or a Florian ( should have been on the list ) or Nick Diaz ( my pick to win it all if MaHa ( Mach to you ) doesnt participate).
Unfortunately, the Pride lightweight class was 161 because that is the natural weight physionomically of a man 5′8″. With Pride having to adopt the bullshit UFC weight classes that are based on boxing, many great Pride LWs wont fight. The Japanese dont really cut weight much. They consider it disrespectful.

uh, dude, Sherk’s title fight is in the middle of the tournament. there’s no way he’s fighting next month, because he’s still hurt. Sean Sherk will NOT be in the PRIDE Grand Prix.

Being biased is one thing, you don’t have to make an art out of nuthugging thou. Pride has alot of talented and very entertaining lightweights. If UFC fighters can prove they can win a tournament and not only a single fight every 3rd month: good for them. Speculating leads to nowhere, but this stuff is really not needed:

The UFc has to send the top guys over there to make a statement. I hope they put it on spike.
Also now that Zuffa owns Pride are we gonna start seeing only five fights a PPV instead of ten cuz that would suck!!!!!

I truly felt sorry for Tyson Griffin that night. It shows how matchmakers can nearly ruin someones career with such lousy match-ups. One or two more matchups like these and he can forget about MMA.

He is a guy with alot of potential, so lets hope with a new check-up the suspension gets lifted before july, so he can compete at the grand prix.

i forgot about ty griffin being suspended, that sucks, i think he out of all the ufc lws could have used this tourney to prove the most, he lost to edgar and that was a bad ass fight that i don’t think he was expecting, i sure wasn’t, i love griffin he’s one of my favorite guys, i wish he could fight in this

I gotta agree that as long as there are no serious injuries a lot of fighters will see this a chance to get their name out there. Fights scheduled before the Grand Prix probably wont keep them out but I doubt any of the guys that have fights soon after will elect to go.
