Selling over 100,000 worth of stuff sound like Rich isnt very rich anymore. That was bad sorry. But the guy sounds like he is having some serious money issues.

It could be money problems,it could be the plastic surgery bill from the knee smashing,it could be that he just doesn’t want the stuff and hes being smart by turning it into cash….hard to tell…

yeah i would doubt that he’s having money problems, although i wasnt too impressed with his paycheck from the JMac fight, but his does have a big part in American Fighter, so im pretty sure he’s making some money there….he said he didnt like the hummer anyway, plus it was free, i would sell that too..im not sure about the motorcycle, all i know is Dana and any other owner of athletics doesnt like their athletes riding motorcycles.

Yeah I guess after what happened to Frank Mir (Kevin Winslow Jr. or Big Ben for anyone who follows NFL, or anyone who watches TV) the UFC really doesnt want their athletes riding motorcycles. I think most of it is pure stupidy, I have been riding “crotch rockets” since I was 16, I am now almost 20 and have never had a accident in my life. But thats just my take on athletes and motorbikes. Maybe he is just getting rid of things he doesnt need but it really does seem like hes scrambling for cash.

Yea, but you are Steven Stone-Cold Austin, you are invincible. Back to a more serious note: I don’t see anything wrong with him selling the stuff. From a economical perspective its the smartest thing to do since assets like those (especially if not used) are wasted money. Maybe he got himself someone who knows his way around money, good for him I say.

I doubt Rich is desperate for money. He’s got the smarts to realize how to not screw up his finances. This is probably a case of him not wanting/needing to have these items anymore and trying to cash in on his current fame.

I was recently at an MMA event where Rich had a table selling t-shirts and signing autographs for 3 straight hours! For a t-shirt at 20 bucks each, it was a very profitable appearance.

BTW, who wouldn’t sell a Hummer for 60K+ that they didn’t pay for? I sure as hell would.

UFCmania we need the picture posted a while back of Timi on his scooter to compare. Maybe someone could start their own collection of bikes previously owned by fighters. : ) Sylvia is such a tool.

Rich is a smart guy and getting smarter by getting rid of this stuff, he’s not going to make the same mistakes as Mike Tyson or MC Hammer and piss all of his money away on dumb crap, especially after all the time off from his injuries in the last couple of years. He knows a fighting career only lasts so long and when it’s over his income is going to shrink substantially unless he becomes a commentator or something.

American Fighter and the other MMA companies out there are really selling nothing more than some T-shirts and hoodies. I’m sure they make some money but they’re not the gold mines by any means, as I rarely see anybody rockin that gear at events or in the streets.

YouTapped I was never saying i am invinceable or anything like that, accidents happen its a fact of life and a fact of driving no matter whether that be a car or motorbike. I was more so just eluding to the fact, Kellen Winslow, hurt while trying to do a cat walk, Big Ben hurt while not wearing a helmet, and I do not know about Frank Mir’s situation, these athletes think they are invinsable and can do whatever they choose. All it takes is a bit of saftey and your chances of getting seriously injured are reduced drastically.

Debt for things like toys and doctor bills are a claim on future earnings.

Rich is doing the right thing by trying to get his financial house in order for the day after he throws his last punch.

Maybe Rich doesnt like outdated american technology like choppers and hummers?

Probably going to put his kids through college with that motorcycle and the hummer will pay off his house.

For an Ex school teacher, a 100 grand is a lot of money when you havent invested in it at all. Plus rich just bought a 15 acre property In cincinnati, he aint having any sort of money issues.

Even if a rider takes all the precautions in the world, its still very dangerous. You may be a damn good rider as i’m sure most people think they are.But the danger has more to do with the other drivers.A fender bender in a car is minor thing most times. On a bike it is usaully alot more dangerous.People just don’t notice motor bikes like they do cars when their driving. But i must admit i enjoy dirt bikes.

You are completely right about that The Man, I can not count the number of times I have been flying down the road and had some person decide they were going to cut out infront of me. The other drivers is always number one percaution, but far far too often I see some dumb ass deciding to ride wearing a pair of sandles, shorts, and a muscle shirt and I can help but think I hope he crashes so he never ever does that again. Granted leather may be hot but at least wear a pair of jeans at the very least.

Btw, sorry for turning this from Rich Franklin selling off his personal poessions into a motorcycle discussion.

Rich is trying to be a hustler. I dont blame him. Hummers are not the tough guy vehicle they use to be, so they are wack. Women are using them to pick up grocerys and kids from soccer. And he looks more like a ninja motorcycle kinda guy.

Guys, I don’t think this is his bike, nor is he the one selling it. The auction reads:

“…The bike’s primary purpose was to promote American-Fighter apparel and accessories. The guys at Damage Wear decided that it’s time for a new bike, so this one is being sold through this auction!

As pictured below, you will see that the bike has been signed by Rich Franklin. Rich is endorsed by Damage Wear and always wears the American Fighter brand of apparel during his UFC competitions.”

It also says:

“This bike was built by Ace Custom Choppers for Damage Wear, Inc., Home of American-Fighter apparel.”

He just signed it and did some promotions for Damage Wear (American Fighter).

I thought that too before posting. However, I saw this on Matt Hughes blog:

“For those of you interested, I see rich Franklin has his Hummer and custom motorcycle on Ebay. Starting bid for the Hummer is $80,000 and starting bid for the motorcycle is $20,000. The reserve’s not met on either. -Matt”

Franklin and Hughes are good friends, so it led me to believe that the bike is indeed Franklins.
