Back in 2004, Chris Leben (16-3) knocked out UFC middleweight fighter Mike Swick (10-1) during a World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) bout, handing the Texas native his first and only loss in his professional mixed martial arts career.

The two later both starred — albeit in losing roles — in season one of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

On April 7, Swick will step inside the Octagon with Yushin Okami at UFC 69. With a convincing win, it’s a fight that could propel him to the top of the division and an eventual showdown with the 185-pound champion.

Leben, on the other hand, has dropped two of his last three fights and needs a win bad over Kalib Starnes at UFC 71 on May 26 to get back in the mix.

Anyway … just want to pass along old footage of Leben putting his “stamp” on Swick back when their careers were at different heights than today.

Swick has clearly improved. It’s amazing what a few years — and a good camp — can do for a fighter.

i know he has a lot of haters out there, but win or lose i’ll always watch a chris leban fight, i love his i don’t give a fuck attitude in the octagon, he’s never gonna be a champion, ever, but i don’t care if he loses his next 3 fights, i’ll still watch the 4th, he’s like the cabbage of 185ers, he’ll fight anyone anywhere anytime, gotta love that…hope he puts the stamp on starnes, he should be able to, i think starnes is a naturally gifted fighter, he’s just a pussy when it comes down to it and he’ll never go anywhere it would be shitty for starnes to win this one and us have to watch another one of his fights later on

I dont mind Leben, he’s got a pretty good chin and a heavy left hand…when facing someone who is a good technical striker he could easily get picked apart….Swick has gotten light years better since then, I dont think Leben really has, but I still would watch him fight

That pretty much sums it up. However much you dislike Leben you can’t deny the heart of the guy, or the entertainment value of his fights. He’s just fun to watch.

Thanks for the vid, it’s always fun to find little gems like this.

I’m a little confused as to why this video made it to this site like it’s news? I’m just saying That I never see any other old fights posted like this. UFCmania if your going to show fights like this lets see the one where joe riggs knocks out Kendell Grove, or the one where Ryoto Machida knocks out Rich Franklin.
maybe i’m wrong but this seems like Swick bashing to me

We’ve already posted the Riggs-Grove fight here before. Click here.
Machida-Franklin was also posted in the comments section not too long ago by MoreThanUFC.

Check out our UFC Videos archive — we post videos from older shows and different promotions all the time when they include relevant UFC fighters.

I came across is the other day on DailyMotion and thought it was something maybe some of our readers would find interesting, especially since Swick is fighting in two weeks.

It is in no way meant to bash Swick — quite the opposite, really.

Ufcmania, very diplomatic, I hope for your sake you have an alternate tag on here for trash talking. Anyways, after Tito’s cowardly pull out of the Dana boxing match, I have a new respect for a guy like leban who wont back down from any fight. But I have to ask, with all this talk about Leban and prostitutes, do they do blood tests on these guys, cause I wouldnt want that dirty bastard bleeding on me!
