Its Overeem and apparently the only fight you saw was Pride 33 so I don’t think you have seen enough of his fights to decide if he is a champ or not.

What techniques does Chuck show-off in his fights? Overhand left hook? Chuck doesn’t have quite the range Shogun has in his abilities and skills. If people prefer the UFC over Pride thats fine, but then don’t judge Pride fighters on the little background information you have or have not on them.

What fight did you watched? Overeem did not hurt him a single time in that fight. The 2-3 times he slipped were due to the ads on the floor as the commentators said a couple of times in the matches earlier. The only realy threat was a single MuayThai clinch and knee attempt, which failed. Then Rua had him in a Kimura attempt, a little stand-up and then Rua took him down again and won by ground and pound and the superman punches.

Shogun did look like shit at the beginning of that fight. Didn’t he fall down a couple of times? He looked kind of Clumsy, and I think he would match up well with say mike Bisbing…. but not chuck

i agree with tha spida a little….i do think Shogun is bad as shit,he is the future of 205, but first of all under UFC rules, Rampage wouldnt have been getting soccer kicked in the face when he fell, its not like he was knocked out, Rampages broken rib was the reason he fell, Shogun broke his rib, so hats off there, but he didnt knock him out cold. Let me tell you something about Nogueira (Minotauro): when he was 10 he was hit by a truck and was in a coma for a few days. During that time he lost a rib and part of his liver. The make things worse, the doctors forgot to remove a probe from his injured knee, which made it even worse until they discovered it.
A few years ago he had to undertake a eye surgery, because he only had 40% eye sight on one of his eyes – the chances have been 50/50 and unfortunately destiny hit him hard again. Now he is competing for a couple of years with a 80% blind eye. He is fighting in the hardest sport there is and is able to compete with the best.

First off man (Spida), you seriously need to do your homework on these guys your talking about. Second off, if you decide to do any research, you’ll see that Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is definitely in the top percentage of fighters in the world right now: He just got done kicking the shit out of Alistair Overeem, “Again”, (2007), so go watch it. He kicked the living shit out of Rampage, who just happened to have make Chuck look like a little girl no too long ago. He totally dominated the guy who dominated Wanderlei, who was also the guy who went three long rounds with Fedor, and barely lost to him in a decision. He Knocked out Kanehara in a little over two minutes, brutally, that’s the guy that went three rounds to a decision with Cro-cop (who tried the whole fight to knock him out). He Took out Randleman in the first round with little effort (Who happens to be a lot bigger than Shogun), you know, the same guy who KO-ed Cro-cop and slammed Fedor on his neck. The guy is seriously unbelievable, you should watch all of his fights and then see what you think of him. You can’t submit him, you can’t box him, you can’t tire him out, he’s got an iron jaw, he has more weapons than anyone I have ever seen. You don’t know if he is going to kick high, kick low, knee, box, takedown, and he is expert at all of them. He is the most rounded fighter in MMA. Chuck has never fought someone like this before, he won’t know what hit him, just like everyone else. Mark my words “Chuck Will get his ass handed to him when “Shogun” comes to town. If Shogun is just a brawler, then Chuck is a 5th grader fighting at the flagpole after school. Shogun has been Chute boxing since he was 6, he’s one of the most proficient and well rounded fighters in the world. Trust me, he knows what he’s doing at all times, and he’s not afraid of standing in there and boxing with some over-confident fighter who thinks he will get a knockout, it’s just not going to happen with Shogun. He’s way to quick for Chuck, among many other things. Give it a couple of years, for him to kick the shit out of some of your wanna-be champs who are afraid to come to Pride. And lets mention that he didn’t fight Big NOG, only his little brother, many are making it sound otherwise. Shogun is overrated. He is good, very good, but overrated. LIke I ahve always been saying. Rampage and Randleman are the only 2 notable wins in his carreer.

I think anytime you compare fighters and claim that one is superior to another based on there being MORE rules in your preferred venue…you’re basically admitting one needs rules to substitute for fighting ability. Short of banning the really cheap stuff that’s considered cheap by even street fight standards, you can’t use rules as a way of saying one fighter is better than the other…The less rules, the more you see who the superior fighter is…Besides…When rampage got destroyed on every level by shogun….i’m pretty sure they were both allowed the same type of blows….waiting for mommy to bail you out (he kicked me when i was down!), just doesn’t redeem an a$$ whipping like that.
