“… big promotions like Zuffa or Dream Stage Entertainment … could easily afford to pay for every fighter to be drug tested on every card with the revenue generated from less than 100 tickets sold.”
–Ivan Trembow from MMAWeekly.com reporting on the random sample of fighters tested for banned substances at UFC 68, which included Randy Couture, Tim Sylvia, Jon Fitch and Luigi Fioravanti, coming back clean.
Sounds like there’s no reason to not test each fighter — silly.

Ahh so Tim was tested though ufcmania?
Ahh so Tim was tested though ufcmania?
Heh?
Remember some people suggested Tim was in fact using juice and wouldn’t be tested. just was double checking the fact that he was indeed tested and cleared of any wrong doing on that account.
yeah tommy, I believe that was Sunny, who knew for a fact that Tim was on roids..due to his back acne and something else…i guess she didnt take in consideration that the dude is 6-8 and oversized for most showers i have seen and probably just cant wash the back side properly……
Oh yes, the infamous omni jaw statement/exchange. BTW, wheres MTU, prison? He’s gone dark the last day or two.
ufcmania…are you saying that you think everyone should be tested?? I think random selection is ok, you can test people like Sylvia and Bonnar who have been caught before, or people like Baroni or Randleman who look like they use steroids, and leave the Kenny florians of the UfC alone….i think random selection is enough to scare most fighters into not using anyway
I promised to name no names soo…However even that guy couldn’t be so stupid as to try that after already being caught once before. Thats career suicide nomatter who you are.
I think everyone should be tested, yes, especially if it is that inexpensive.
yeah i see where youre coming from, i just wish there was a better way to test than wait for results after the actual fight…but i guess if someone was caught right before the fight, then the fans would be screwed out of a fight…..
Yeah me too ufcmania. I understand dudes point but as we see they test for more then just a balking roids. I mean did Tim ‘look’ like he was on roids when he was? I didn’t think so. Did Bonner really ‘look’ it? Its one of those hard to tell things. Better test and be safe and fair for all involved. Oh and yes Thiago you look it!!!!
yeah tim at the time didnt look like it, but compar pictures of that tim with the tim now, and you can tell….thats neither here nor there..no Bonnar was a shock to me…and some guys are just naturally gifted when it comes to muscles.. naturally gifted guys to me…Couture, his got the slender muscle that is just years of hard work embedded in his body…then you have enflamed guys like Monson, who i question
Sounds like Tim is on Roids now, according to other article:
“I just got my MRI yesterday and I got diagnosed with everything so they put me on the pain medication — some oral steroids, [I] go in for a cortisone shot [March 16]“
You can’t only test the guys who like they’re juicing and ignore the KenFlos of the world. How many scrawny relief pitchers in MLB have been caught with roids, not to bulk up but to help their bodies recover faster between outings? Lots, that’s how many. And it would be easy to believe that some fighters are using just to recover from workouts faster, enabling them to train harder for longer periods of time.
They should test everyone, steroid test’s are only around $110.00 last I knew.
I agree with PW you can’t go on looks alone. These guys are not taking the typical dosages that bodybuilders do nor do they eat the amount of food they do to put on weight large amounts of weight. Most fighters don’t want to put on weight when there already walking around 20lbs heavier than there weigh-in weight. It’s usually a single compound to speed up recover time or to increase RBC’s.
creatine helps your body recover from workout..id think that would be a better alternative…although when your cutting weight, i think you might be screwed, probably in both cases…and i really didnt know many relief pitchers got in trouble for roids
Remember it’s not the UFC’s decision as to who or how many are tested. The athletic commissions deal with this, and yeah I agree it’s stupid that they don’t check everyone. I’ve heard the reasoning is that if you test everyone, you’re effectively treating them all like criminals to a degree. Having everyone submit samples and doing a random check sends the message “Hey, we don’t assume everyone might be juicing, but we are checking so be aware”.
To the Tim Sylvia comment, yeah he was using steroids at the beginning of his career. When someone uses steroids it really screws up your whole body chemistry, and is insanly hard to gain any lean muscle after you stop using them. Thats one of the reason’s Tim has such excess weight but low muscle tone.
I saw a guy once, Brad Kohler I think it was, and they dicussed his steroid use, I mean the guy was a beast, physically. But 3 years after he had like 4 cases of cancer and was at like a 46% body fat count. To me that just isn’t worth it, hit it the natural way man!
is that really the DIESEL? if it is i just watched the fight on your profile with grove that was a nasty KO. ive never seen that before. Did you purposely look away to set him up for the KO
I dont think Baroni is gassed up cos he was a natural body builder aswell and he knows how to cut body fat
“When someone uses steroids it really screws up your whole body chemistry, and is insanly hard to gain any lean muscle after you stop using them”
I don’t even take aspirin, so I wouldn’t know, but isn’t that only a problem for a short period of time afterwards?
I think everyone should be tested, yes, especially if it is that inexpensive.
I agree, If you have nothing to hide then who gives a F-BOMB.
Yeah when you fuck with steroids you mess up your ability to absorb Protein Isolate, there by giving you excess weight. Your ability to pack on weight is your tistasterone, it raises your levels like an athlete, but right after you stop using you crash. The sudden change in tistasterone effects everything like little seymour, you heart, your kidneys, and especially, err…. lets say… you cant “get it up… for good!”. And in most cases its perminant.
Most guys did that shit for a short career, but with a proper dieting plan and regular cardio, you can actually keep more muscle on, for a longer period of time even without working out.
To Riggs ya got to add me man-

Lol, you are too funny. I was away on a work assignment with little more than my PDA for entertainment. It sucks. I’m back til Monday, then on the road again for most of next week.
Why didnt Tim test positive for steriods? I thought he had Omnijaw and back acne? Back acne, that is just freaking disgusting to think about.
Excuse me I meant Tistasterone is the key chemical that helps you keep weight off and gain muscle, steroids are like an artificial boost, if ya’d like to look at it that way.
Kind of off topic, but too bad Nick Diaz tested positive for weed after he pulled off a go-go-plata against Gomi (Pride 33).
Jorge, did you mean testerone or testosterone? Tistasterone doesnt seem to be a protein in the body.
If I wanted to increase the level of testosterone in my body, does massaging your nuts work? I hear guys at the gym talk about doing it, but I would feel kinda foolish sitting in my room, rubbing my balls for nothing. Any experience with this? Does it work?

Sorry I was going by the accented and shortened term in português. Oh and to the massaging the nuts part, you cant really tell, of course I’ve always had someone else do that for me… =]~
Lol, good comeback, bro. Hope to see you fight again soon. Good luck with the school. I think I might be a new fan of yours. I like a guy with a sense of humor.
Peace.;)
Wow!!!!! Just got back from the Maldives……..this weather here is depressing. Interesting blogs…
As for steriods, i do not understand why people who do not have an extensive medical background such as myself continue to make false and inacurate statements about these substances.
Steriods are classed into 3 categories: Catabolic, Anabolic and Androgenic. The first is used for inflammation for patients with injuries, bowel diseases ( such as Chrohns) and breathing issues such as asyhma, and COPD etc.. Catabolic steriods have huge drawbacks such as swelling, and prolonged use causes break down and cause deterioration ( eating away of muscle).
The last two are typically used by athletes etc.. Anabolic are the cleanest ones with the least side effects. They enhance lean muscle tissue growth..more for definition.
Angrogenic are used more for larger muscle growth and have the sterotypical side effects such as skin eruptions, mood swings and fluctuations in hormones.
Not all steriods are Testosterone based. The testorone based steriods have their pros and cons. When using them, people have great confidence, feel like they are on top of the world, and recover faster from injuries and fights. Sadly, when you come off these substances, people claim that they feel depressed, lose their confidence and continue to have skin blemishes for months.
Now I just got back from vacation and I did not have a chance to read the article above, all I saw was piss tests. Now here it gets interesting. Urine tests are inexpenisve, but they are not as sensitive to picking up low residue hormones in the body such as a blood test does.
When someone is using the latter two steriods, TIME IS THEIR BEST FRIEND. Depending on whether the steriods used were WATER BASED OR OIL BASED, will dictate as well how long the person needs to flush or stop using them in order to test negative. Depending on the cycle as well, it can take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks to test negative.
As for bloggers who say that steriods cause impotency, that is not true for all steriods!! I have had patients and their wives come into my office and literally show me their husbands privates, certain steriods can cause almost all day and night erections and arrousal! ( such as the steriod sestanone)
And GH is not a steriod! Growth hormone is not a steriod!!!!
It causes huge muscle growth, and did you know that in China, some doctors where extracing GH from human cadavers…and people here in N. America ( body builders) where buying it up and using it!!! This by the way is illegal!!!
Finally, steriods are not a wonder drug. You must eat very clean and train hard, if you do not do these two things, you will bloat and have massive water retention.. Steriods only increase your muscle growth by 30 percent. So eating too many carbs or fast food will leave you looking like a bloated bastard!
I used steriods more that 8 years ago. I used Winstrol V, which helps to cut and define the body, not to gain weight!! This is not a testorone based steriod. Many fitness models and female wrestlers use this mild steriod.
Unless pharmacutically made, I would never reccommend buying steriods from someone from a gym etccc… many times you are not getting steriods!!!, this is a very dangerous activity that you men engage in, buying what they think is steriods on line, please be carefull.
Yes I have made very serious statements here about certain fighters, because I am 100 % confident in what I am saying. I do not know when the all access segment on T was taped and the time frame between that taping and his fight with Randy. However, from the face I saw in all access, T was on the program.
The best revenge is that Randy Couture won, like I said over and over that he would, and I was freaked on and told that Tim was younger, taller and heavier, and he still lost.
And I am still going to say this: Randy will beat Cro Cop.
BTW… what is MTU,
and SUNNY SANTORO… Santoro is from GFELLAS and SUNNY is from GODFATHER…my two favorite characters combined into one.
THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME A LIAR, AND EVERYONE DOESNT NEED TO BE SCHOOLED ON THEIR BLOG NAME.
Sincerely,
SUNNY SANTORO
OHHH noo…please not again….PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…Lets all take a vote on this person. Please lets vote this typing piece of negativity off ufcmania. Your own words make you a liar Sunny.
After watching certain fights, I was shocked by certain fighters, young fighters that is, and what lay people refer to as bitch tits.
The body naturally releases certain amounts of testosterone and estrogen. When someone continually takes testosterone based steriods, the body stops producing the natural amount because it knows its getting testosterone from another source.
When you stop using testosterone bsed steriods, the body doesnt produce or release the natural test. right away ,the body first has to rid itself of the high amount of residual test. So what happens is that there is a rise in estrogen- higher that the amount of test in the body for some time. One of the secondary side effects of this in men is fatty deposits behind their nipples caused by the higher amount of estrogen, hence called bitch tits. In medical terms this is called gynoplasty. That is why steriods if used in small amounts and in short cycles, does not dissrupt the body as much as when people take steriods for too long a period and mess up their normal hormone balance.
Unfortunately, this physical side effect does not go away, men have to have surgery to remove the fatty desposits, such as the famous wrestler know as THE ROCK had done years ago..
One of my favorite fighters here in the UFC has these tits, and its sad, because he is only 25!
SunnY
haha sam hoger, rashad evans??? you can have bitch tits without steroids
Since you like to be so technical – isnt it Sonny?
OK, lets stop this before it even gets started. Thanks.
You can’t correct a liar Mayberry. They just continue to lie instead of saying they were wrong. Theres no dishonor in being wrong…we all are from time to time…however to just act like your right instead of learning, proves real ignorance that big words and spell checking can’t show.

Last warning — I mean it kiddies. This is getting out of control. If you’re thinking of talking about the stupid argument above, don’t. Move along. At the very least, talk MMA/UFC — that’s what this site is all about. Not all this other first-grade nonsense.
Let’s all just calm down please. I have my opinions of sunny, but I am just letting it go, not reading her frigging books, and taking everything she says with a grain of salt. Just ignore Omnijaw, Tommy. I dont want to see you get banned.
