UFC President Dana White and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4 welterweight champion Matt Serra were recently featured on cable channel FOX News to promote this weekend’s UFC 68: “The Uprising” event in Columbus, Ohio.

And what seemed to be a rather cookie-cutter segment on the background and rules of mixed martial arts turned into Serra slapping an armbar on the co-host of the show.

It’s one of those awkward play fights that gets competitive. Well, as competitive as a news anchor can be with a jiu-jitsu blackbelt I suppose.

It still cracks me up that Brian Kilmeade went from hosting UFC 2-4 to Fox and Friends. The play by play on those first couple episodes is some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever heard. Jim Brown never had more than one line per fight.

It sure beats the usual interviews where the majority of it is spent defending the sport to ignorant critics. That was entertaining. Let’s send Matt Serra on interviews more often.

Yeah, I think he did well. He just needs to get rid of that sound that comes out of his mouth when he starts sentences. Sounds like a seal or something.

Yeah, at least one of the hosts was familiar with the sport. Most people in the media, mainly because they are above the 18-34 age group, have absolutely no idea what mma is about, and really dont even care. It’s good to see someone in the media receptive to what they have to say.

yeah the news guys on tv seem to not care, its the radio guys who take a liking to it..i think the tv news people will come around when UFC starts getting bigger, i want to see it on Sportscenter to replace sorry boxing highlights that no one cares about…by the way i heard this guy was waiting for Serra when he went out to his car, they fought again and he took Serra to a split decision, suprised ufcmania didnt get the news first
