In the second round within 1 minute matt got penn down and so did gsp. The only reason matt didn't keep taking penn down was because he was already down, hughes dominated round 2 until penn got his back. Randy couture was saying hughes is getting out just before the bell rang at the end of round 2. Also if hughes wasn't so damn strong I doubt penn would've injured himself going for his back and I believe he got tired out going for the submission. Hughes is a very difficult guy to submit mainly because hes so strong, I feel penn submitted him the first time because hughes was stunned from a punch. I believe hughes was trying to prove a point(foolishly) that he could stand with gsp, he's probably the only person who thought he could. Hughes is lame on his feet and is far inferior to gsp 's stand up, gsp is in my opinion by far the best on his feet. He has beautiful balance and foot work and looks more like an artist than a fighter out there. Some one mentioned earlier that the spider and gsp are similar fighters.....I definetly don't agree. Gsp's take down defense is top notch, the way he totally shut down sherk mr.take down. I still believe hughes is stronger than gsp and could be a big threat on the ground if he could take it there, and think eventually he'll get the take down.
