ufc 67 stage
With all the talk of the UFC expanding into England, Mexico, Canada, Japan and other nations across the globe, it’s good to see that the promotion hasn’t lost sight of new markets here in the United States.

According to The Oregonian, the UFC would like to stage an event in the Pacific Northwest. Specifically, in Portland, Oregon — an area that apparently UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner, oft calls home.

Here’s a snip from the Rat:

“My goal is to bring the UFC to Portland someday. Of course, we’d have to work around the Blazers’ schedule. I would love to bring it to the Northwest. We’re not worried about selling tickets. We’re selling everywhere right now. For the first UFC event in Houston, we sold 7,000 tickets in three hours. We’ve sold 15,000 in Columbus, Ohio, and we’re still five weeks away.”

Don’t get too fired up just yet, Oregonians. The article goes on to say that “a Portland or Seattle date still may be years away.”

Regardless, the thinking is there and the fans are there. It’s seems to be only a matter of time.

I just moved to Seattle WA from Jacksonville Florida.
MMA is a lot more popular in the southeast
but it seems as though there are a good amount of
places in Seattle that order UFC PPVs.
I’ll see what happens on 12/29/07.
Its hard as hell to find a place that will be
ordering the Mayweather VS Hatton fight though
and the one that is has a $15 cover charge.

I just listened to an interview Dana had with Tagg radio and he states that it may this year and or may be around UFC 91 in Portland.
This will most likely sell out if it happens.

I’ve read the rumors of having UFC 91 in Portland, OR where Ken-Flo and Joe Daddy have already signed on to fight but now I read today that Randy Couture and Brock lesnar have signed on to fight but it will be in Vegas @ the MGM. Why not have it in Portland? Why not have it where ‘The Natural’ has his Team Quest? Obviously this is a huge name fight and the card would probably be as big so there would be no other place than Vegas, but I think the UFC should really give it some thought.
