Rashad vs. Tito is UFC 73. Remember the name change for the events???
I’m a long time UFC fan living in Belfast, how do i guarantee tickets?!?!
This is a weak event
Man its only April 11, this event isnt until June 16, that is two months away. Yes right now it does look like a weak event, but jeez, at least give it a chance to shape up before you shoot it down.
And who knows what could happen for the main card, maybe this will end up being UFC 71: The Battle of the Matt’s! Who really knows at this point?
Your right Ghost…but the rumor is that this event will be a free one on Spike. Similar to the upcoming 70. Notice there are know title fights on this upcoming card. So….I just don’t see it getting anymore exciting. Of course there are possibilites. For the fans…I hope it gets better
cro cop should be fighting this ppv, am i right??? i know its early, but could this be the CROCOP VS Couture PPV!?!?
The main event is Rich (the PROTECTED) Franklin VS Kampmann
while all upcoming ppvs will be held in comparison to chuck rampage! i also think that it is to early to call these ppv’s weak at this point. you never know what will happen between now and fight night. i mean you got pride greats coming over left and right, and now minotauro, who wil definatly shake up the heavyweights a little. he has four losses and two of those are to the mma god fedor so it’s not like thoughs count anyways
Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis is also on the card, his opponent is yet TBA. He asked for Gomi, but rumors are saying Luke Cummo.
The one weekend I’m in Vegas, and they take the show on the roas! Son Of a B*&%#
Looks pretty poor so far, what could the main event be? It can’t be a title fight all the champions are booked
will it be hughes vs serra?
any other ideas?
Cant wait to see Rich Franklin fight again, he will hold the belt high again. luv to see Rashad v Tito,
or Tito v Jardine
or Randy v cro cop
or hughes v sanchez
Bring UFC to Australia Dana you dumbass, look at the ratings on ufc ppv!
Battle of the Matts, Marcus Davis vs. Luke Cummo,…. a decent card so far… Sanchez vs. Fitch should be added … along with “the Blanket” KOS vs. GSP … that would be BOMB-DIGGETY!!!!
davis cummo would be a nice fight, i was real impressed with luke cummo at 69 he just looked confident and much improved, i think he would beat davis pretty easily…
maybe forrest will fight lambert or babalu, those would be nice fights as well…
Is NOG and Vera a sure thing yet.Not sure if there is a date set or not, anyway that would be a headliner
Now with Forrest’s weaks ass opponent getting named this event got no better. The only way they can save this one is by throwing in Big Nog/Vera. I want to see that one go down
the Main Event:
Rich Franklin (21-2-0) vs. Martin Kampmann (15-2-0)
I’m just glad it’s coming to belfast, yehaa. I got my ticket!
Bring it on
Madman,
Where did you get your tickets from? Where are they for sale in belfast? Im located in the north of belfast.
Cheers!
Think rich will win comfortably, but then again, I said that about the Anderson Silva fight!
Luke has the heart of a lion and incredibly unique submission defence, should be a goodin

Could you tell me where to get the tickets in belfast mate? Cheers!

Just use ticketmaster.com or go to virgin in town
It must be the big Nog debut on this card! Against who is the question?
“The main event is Rich (the PROTECTED) Franklin VS Kampmann”
No doubt… one warm up is enough.
Yep, just waiting for the announcement of Big Nog vs. Vera for this main event…
This is a weak event
The only way to make Stafo’s comment more accurate is to say that this is a pitifully weak event. I dont care who wins any of those fights.
Come on! I want to see Fuckin Stephan Bonnar shit kick Tito Ortiz… when is that goin to happen
Other than Rich Franklin, who is on this card? This card is a floating turd. This is where Zuffa is testing to see how little they need to offer up to get how much in PPV money. If this night makes big money too, then we’re gonna get less and less. Compare 73 already to this one and tell me this doesn’t suck! Unless this one will be free stateside (like 70 was) because it’s over in Ireland. Okay then- for free- this is worth watching.
UFC 72??? WILL THIS PPV EVENT BE PUT ON DISH NETWORK OR CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS(CABLE) FOR THE STATES TO WATCH???

don’t sleep on tyson griffin, he’s an animal, also forrest griffin is fighting and ed herman and jason mcdonald are both good fighters, also jake obrien is an undefeated hw with a pretty nice game, not a lot of superb fights, but some real nice fighters on this card, its not as bad as i originally thought it to be…
Yep, just waiting for the announcement of Big Nog vs. Vera for this main event…
Exactly, what better way to get Big Nog known than when it’s free on Spike TV. Not to mention alot of new viewer will be watching when its free so why not make it a killer card and gain so new fans Dana.
Wait, dude didnt they just announce Big NOG will fight on 73?

Okay- out of all those names, the two Griffins- Tyson and Forrest and Jason McDonald are solid contenders (I know McDonald just got clobbered by Franklin but he’s still improving). The rest are TV guys or untested. And even then Forrest really disappointed me last time he fought.
Knee Injury KOs Kampmann
A knee injury suffered during training has forced middleweight contender Martin Kampmann to withdraw from his June 16th bout with Rich Franklin in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A new opponent for Franklin is currently being sought for the UFC 72 main event and will be announced shortly.
Franklin/Okami is the only fight where there’s two legitimate stars fighting against each other. Other than that it’s more like let’s see what this guy can do matches. those guys would be:
Forrest Griffin
Jason Macdonald
Tyson Griffin
Ed Herman
Jake O’Brien
Marcus Davis
and that’s where the problem lies with this ppv.
it needs a co-main event and Griffen vs Ramirez doesn’t do it!
Even with the addition of Rua, the UFC is getting creamed in June by a company they consistently dismiss. Check out this card from Strikeforce/EliteXC
Elite XC/Strikeforce (6/22/07)
1. Frank Shamrock vs Phil Baroni could be the second fight of any major UFC event
2. Joey Villasenor vs Murilo Rua – Elite XC Middleweight Title this card has a Rua too.
3. Paul Buentello vs Carter Williams Carter Williams continues his MMA career from K-1 to take on Buentello
4. Cung Le vs Tony Fryklund Le’s first real test in MMA
5. Paul Daley vs Duane Ludwig DW is exciting
6. Charles Bennett vs Victor Valenzuela KrazyHorse, nuff said
7. Jason Von Flue vs Luke Stewart the never boring JVF
8. Mike Pyle vs Aaron Wetherspoon
9. Eugene Jackson vs Danny Higgins
10. Josh Thomson vs Nick Gonzalez
11. Rex Richards vs TBA
I now where my June $40 is going.
EliteXC will smoke UFC 72, you mean?
No doubt, but that isnt saying much…I think the EliteXC card is ok only if The Legend vs The Bad Ass pans. Ninja is no Shogun, but overall a decent card.
I have already decided to skip 72 (unless there is a new fight added) …maybe I will check this one out.
I think the EliteXC card is ok
Agreed, but this is a second tier org right now going heads up in June ( week apart ) against Goliath. For them, its a monster. And the top four bouts are all real good, very intriguing. Zuffa let their guard down on this one. Showtime is hyping the shit out of it from what I understand, plus with the lead in from the undercard on cable to the PPV event later on, great idea. Wish the UFC and Spike did that.
ufc 72 is the worst ufc card EVERi willNOT buy it

ufc 72 is the worst ufc card EVERi willNOT buy it

Come on Dana this is not worth even watching.
who ever would pay $40 for this is crazy, save your money for 73. Dana, just change it to a free event if you want some viewers. I mean how could you follow up 71 (in my opinion i thought it was great) up with this card?
2 fight of the year possibilities with franklin vs. okami and tyson griffin vs. clay guida, and the forrest vs. ramirez fight has all kinds of potential, i’ve been trying to defend this card for weeks, but its hard with no belts on the line and not a lot of star power to convince people, but the fights on this card are gonna be good ones, because the fighters are all good and the match ups are very good, ed herman and scott smith will get shown and those guys are exciting and i don’t like rory singer at all and i think he’s gonna lose to mcdonald, but that fight will be a nice ground war, then theres jake obrien who’s undefeated and an up and comer, and eddie sanchez likes to bang and the guy he’s fighting does too so that fight might be exciting enough to get shown, this ppv would have been perfect for spike and its gonna be different to have a mid afternoon show, but i still think its worth it to see some really good fighters and some fights with some really nice potential…
Those guys that sing that “Hey Delila” song are on kimmell; man that song blows…oh yeah ufc is cool.

Agree Spida. The card is weak overall, but the potential in endless when you think about the background that the fights are based on. The main event has two very hungry and talented guys working there way to the belt. Rich working back, and Okami dangerously threatening the division by taking out all the young talent that TUF was bulding up. I can see either one o these guys being Champ. The Forrest/Ramirez fight could be a banger. Oh! and Guida/Griffen WoW. Really looking forward to that 155 bout, but still a hard sell overall. This card is weak just because it’s being compared to the cards that surround it. Look at 71,73,74, and it was originally supposed to be free on Spike.
Any idea when UFC 73 tickets go on sale?
