I feel bad for the fighters, those salaries are really low compared with the TON of money UFC is making in those events now!

Herring was injured supposedly.

And if you go back and watch the beginning of the fight, at 4:43 in the 1st rd, Herring’s left knee buckles.

So it seems like he was injured.

Every fighter that gets in the ring is always injured…..Lidell beat Ortiz with a torn MCL never once heard him use it as an excuse before or after b/c any fighter worth his salt knows once you decide to get in the ring injuries mean nothing.

Funny that the highest paid guy on the card wasn’t shown on TV.

So are we supposed to ignore the fact that his injury kept him from fighting the way he has shown he can in Pride? Let’s be realistic here … sure, being a whiny bitch about it afterwards wasn’t cool, but the fact is the guy was injured and it wasn’t a minor injury. People will talk trash for now but when he comes back in 3 months and knocks someone’s head off then things will change.

Herring’s injury wasn’t the cause of his loss… it was his weak ass sprawls that caused the loss. Liddell had the same injury and said wrestlers tend to get it a lot and it usually doesn’t affect your balance or what not so it wasn’t that big of a deal, that is why he didn’t mention it.

I can see where injuries are good excuses:

Penn/Hughes 2- Penn loses due to broken ribs
AA/Sylvia 3- AA can’t stick to his gamplan b/c of an injury
I’m sure there are others but

The just don’t pay these guys enough… There should be a 10000 minimum if they bring a guy into the UFC. I am glad to see that the UFC didn’t shell out huge money to get Hearing in though… I don’t think any minor injury can explain away his pathetic jujitsu, and if the injury wasn’t minor he shouldn’t have been fighting.

Great fights and Rashad made the whole hour worth it.
No one comes to see a decision.
We want a knock out or see them cry after Royce bends an arm backwards.

For showman-ship and knockouts thats worth an extra 5-10 grand.

Loosers paid fairly.

Really surprised at Rashad’s newer skills but still not ready for a Chuck Lidell I would like to see him fight Tito Ortiz or let Matt come up to 205 to fight Rashad. A little teacher/pupil get back.

These fighters get paid like shit. I can’t belive they don’t make more than that. I can’t wait untill these guys are getting paid like boxers. Then they’ll be raking in some cash.

They didn’t make the big bucks because this isn’t the big show. Pay-per-view events are where the money is made.

You know, I get a feeling I can only describe as embarrassment when I read the payouts to fighters. I don’t know why the payouts are what they are so I am not going to point fingers but just say that many of the fighters deserve to be paid more.
I never get to see what the top guy’s make but the numbers I have seen are in my opinion very low considering the physical and mental commitment it takes to enter the octagon and the risk of injury involved.
I don’t know why the payouts are what they are so I am not going to point fingers but just say that many of the fighters deserve to be paid more.
Someone please tell me that they are provided medical insurance at no cost!
As a fan I just want to say I hope the fighters payouts increase substantially.
Good luck!

some of you are deluded when it comes to boxer pay. some major draws make millions however most average around $100 per round. the ones you see on tv do somewhate better getting as much as $1000 - $5000 per match. fighting is like most individual sports. winnings are not big bucks. if they make big $$ it is via sponserships. for instance the leading winner in auto racing is the nascar champ (06-jimmie johnson) won 7 mill in 40 contest (175,000 per event average) with the highest cost of competing in all of sports.
06 golf leader was tiger also with 7 mill won over 20 contest (350,000 per event)they also pay thier own expences as well s that of thier cat who also recieves 10% of all winnings.
in mens and womens tennis once you get past the top 5 money winners no one else breaks a million in total prize $. #5 in each earned $900,000 over 40 contest playing aroung the world again paying all thier own expences (ave $20,000 per event)
these listed are the HIGHEST paying individual sports. once you get to extreme sports, snow sports, motor cross, cowboy sports and so on the money drops to where only a few make a full time living at the sport.
the value of an individual sport is exposure and thus advertising on ones back. in time MMA will build that value and is already past many sports that have been around much longer. no it isn’t THE highest valued sport as of today, boxing is but to say they are not well compensted isn’t reality.
