The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4 welterweight finalist Chris Lytle (22-13-5) has been added to the Ultimate Fight Night 8 undercard on January 25, 2007, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, according to MMAWeekly.com.
His opponent has not been named.
Joining “Lights Out” that evening will be two of the UFC’s most promising lightweights, Spencer Fisher (19-2) and Hermes Franca (17-5), both of whom do not yet have opponents lined up.
And heavyweight Jake O’Brien (8-0), who is 2-0 since making his UFC debut back in August, will also make an appearance. His opponent, too, has not been named. However, if you remember, O’Brien was rumored to be the first UFC opponent for superstar MMA free agent Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (21-4-2).
Of course, Cro Cop has not signed his name on a UFC contract, despite indications —albeit conflicting and maddening — that it is likely.
Even though Anderson Silva made his debut on a UFC Fight Night Card, knocking Chris Leben (16-2) silly back in June, we find it hard to believe that Dana White — if he is indeed on the verge of signing someone like the Croatian — would spend all that money and put him on free television.
So, take that recent report from Sherdog.com with a grain of salt — like we should have.
Here’s the most recent UFC Fight Night 8 card, which reflects the most recent additions:
