Last night, Dana White revealed to reporters covering UFC Fight Night at Miramar that UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre (13-1) and former titleholder Matt Hughes (40-5) will clash for the third time on April 7 in Montreal.
This will be the first ever UFC event to be held in Canada.
Here’s a snip from Canada.com:
Making the St. Pierre-Hughes rubber match in Montreal the UFC’s first show in Canada is a no-brainer for the mixed martial arts circuit. St. Pierre will draw fans to the Bell Centre while Hughes is a ready-made villain, certain to help pump up the fight.
And a quote from Dana White:
“How fun is that going to be. How crazy do you that place going to be that night? How do you think it’s going to be for Hughes when he walks in with 16,000 Canadians in there? They’re going to kill him.”
However, GSP must first handle The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4 Welterweight Champion Matt Serra at UFC 67 on February 3 and escape the fight injury free.

How rough is that for Matt Serra? They already have a rubber match planned for St. Pierre in April, as if the UFC has already assumed he’ll lose. Tough break!
Yeah, he’s not getting much respect at all — not even from the UFC.
Thats because MattSerra is a joke.
I’m an East Coast Boy, but sorry can’t back up Serra on this one. It’s going to be target practice for St. Pierre. Serra is going to get smashed, then GSP will go on to wreck Hughes once again.
