According to the banner on the left, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 2 Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans will return to the Octagon for the first time since his brutal ground and pound knockout of Jason Lambert at UFC 63 back in September.
Evans will face off against Sean Salmon in a light heavyweight match up at UFC Ultimate Fight Night (UFN) 8 on January 25, 2007, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
For Salmon (9-1), this will mark his first trip inside the UFC cage after a busy year compiling a 7-1 record in smaller promotions such as Fightfest and King of the Cage.
And no, that’s not a typo. Salmon has fought eight times this year, losing only once to UFC fighter David Heath.
This is a curious opponent for Evans, who is rising fast in the 205-pound class. Salmon is a relatively unknown fighter and does not boast extensive mixed martial arts experience in the professional ranks.
Is seeing Babalu anytime soon too much to ask?
The middleweight fight between Nate Marquardt and Dean Lister will co-headline Ultimate Fight Night (UFN) 8.
