Victor ValimakiVictor “The Matrix” Valimaki (8-2) today confirmed that he will make his debut in the Octagon against David Heath (6-0) on Wednesday, December 13 at Ultimate Fight Night (UFN) 7, according to MMARingReport.com.

Here’s a snip from Valimaki:

It’s kind of surprising. I knew the call would come, but maybe not yet. But now that it has come, I know I deserve to be there.

Valimaki recently captured the Maximum Fighting Championships (MFC) light heavyweight title by defeating Jason Day via rear naked choke. He’s ripped off a winning streak of five consecutive victories, including a win over UFC Hall of Famer Dan Severn, to earn his spot on the big stage.

The 205-pounder trains with Jason MacDonald at Pro Camp Sports Management, who recently submitted The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season three middleweight finalist Ed Herman. “The Athlete” will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 66 on December 30 when he squares off against Chris “The Crippler” Leben.

Interesting note: Leben and Herman trained together at Team Quest … will there be revenge in the air?

Headlining UFN 7, of course, is the marquee welterweight match up between Diego Sanchez and Joe Riggs.

“Diesel” has looked dynamite against lesser opponents, but has struggled against the top tier talent in the division. His showdown with the undefeated “Nightmare” will most likely be his make or break moment.

And the winner will almost certainly get first crack at the winner of Matt Hughes-Georges St. Pierre.

We’ll provide more updates leading up to the show.
